It's not up to OP to promote the product, especially through misleading descriptions. "Used" is accurate.
Used implies it is sold as is, fresh from original owner, whereas refurb indicates there's been some degree of improvement made - cleaning, testing, upgrading software etc. which is distinctly different.
Refurb is a vague and misleading term.
Some people in the past with similar deals have thought "refurb" meant the same quality as Apple refurbished, ie. basically as new quality with a new battery.

For past deals of "refurbished" computers, people have received PCs that have had no cleaning done and no upgrading. No idea about this seller, but calling it used is much safer imo (and clearly the mods agree if they're the ones who added the tag).
@PainToad: Exactly, most "refurb" computers by these eBay stores are totally based on potluck.
Not matching specs? Covered in dust? Bad luck, these kangaroo stores probably buy these in bulk for cheap and then offload them without precariously checking each PC.

Depends on what codec you need. If you need transcoding, 8th gen is a sweet spot
IGPU in the 8th gen is almost identical to 7th gen, so I'd say if you want to save a few bucks then go for 7th onwards. 6th gen lacking av1 and x265 iirc.
Also hardware transcoding need plex pass so factor that in your budget.
It will hardware transcode (quick sync is available way back to 2nd gen processors), but may not support the codecs you want.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Quick_Sync_Video shows what each subsequent version of quick sync supports. If the CPU doesn't support it, then Plex will drop back to software transcoding.
Nvidia Shield Pro works as a decent Plex server but I tend to just use Stremio (with Add-ons) these days

From a technical point, those are much recent, but I have found Kamrui's quality to be a bit subpar. Some have had good experiences with them.

Again, it depends on your use case; I am only using it for a media server with no transcoding.

Have a look at The m720q or system that supports a PCIe riser. I think that would work better for your use case .

I'd recommend getting the HP equivalent if you can, as it has USB-C for this generation if that is important to you. They have come up at the same price point before. I use it as a media center with jellyfin and it transcodes 1080p stuff without issue.

Depends on if/what you need to transcode and whether you have Plex pass.
I have this system running Ubuntu/Docker along with Plex and it's great. Decoding is all done by the clients. I'm not even sure if I've got transcoding enabled. Plex files are on a cheap NAS.
It's probably just a direct play.
Plex client is idiotic software which regularly insists on transcoding on perfectly adequate hardware that doesn't actually need transcoding.
I've had that issue once before a long time ago.
My current setup never runs into that issue and is pretty much rock solid (other than a few tweaks I'm too lazy to make).
Plex w/ pass is running on a m700 with the primary client being an AppleTV.
If you don't need to transcoder this works. Wouldn't hurt if you had read next line.

Nope, if you are doing a direct play locally, it doesn't. It all depends on what your receiver is, if it can decode the codec, you don't need transcoding.

With the exception of the P330 none of them are upgradable to Windows 11 and updates and support for Windows 10 ends in 2025.
There is ways around it but your PC could stop functioning at any moment due to Microsoft updates to defeat the "hacks", another option would be installing Linux instead.
As more people catch on that Windows 10 will no longer be supported and Windows 11 won't work units such as these (and 100s of others) they will become dirt cheap.
You can still clean install windows 11
