Some chargers are a box with a cable that goes to the wall. As opposed to these where the brick connects directly to the wall socket.

      • I think JV is having a laugh because these Anker's are known to stick out quite a lot so the weight causes them to droop over time as the plug gets looser.

also just something I only realised recently but plugs stay tight if you pull the plug out regularly. if you leave something plugged for years and years (in the wall/ a powerboard/double adapter etc) the plug gets loose over time.

if you are leaving something such as this anker plugged into just a powerboard on the ground facing up the loosening is less of a problem.

nah drill it into the wall mate

    • I've always found that amusing, also the "Power Source: Corded Electic".

ah jv, seems a bunch of Oz'bers have been down voting your comment with zero explanations. I miss the days when people voiced a reason for down voting instead of clicking a "-" and hiding in the crowd.

  • Alot of these fast chargers popping up these days. Are they safe to charge a phone overnight? I heard they will cause excessive heat and degrade the battery? Unless they're made to trickle charge once full

    • Personally, I have this unit but no longer use it. Works well, great charging especially when I used a ROG Phone 6 Pro so i got to use the full 65W charging, sure it generates some heat but it does trickle charge once it hits max battery capacity or limited battery capacity that some phones let you set it to (aka my Galaxy Z Fold 5 I battery limit to 85%).

A lot of devices these days have that battery management to change the watts drawn from the wall down to prevent excessive heat which helps out in cases with a mammoth like this. Trust me, this thing is somewhat big, sticks out off the wall and I definitely bent the pins a couple of times out of carelessness. Which prompted me to swap to a UGreen desk charger instead after about 10 months of using this.

Also don't plug this into a powerboard, my partner did that once and it tripped the board. I've always plugged this into a wall socket

That’s really weird. I have 2 of these and they’re both in powerboards without issue.
I thought Anker was a better brand out there

        • -1

Perhaps the mileage may vary on this one then, but it tripped it once and I didn't do it again.

        • Every brand has its failures. I've had to send back quite a few reputable products including a Belkin charger with something loose inside.

      • Mine is connected to power board 24/7 too, no issues

    • +3

Yes they are safe. Your phone controls the charge rate, not the charger. There is no "trickle charging" - once full, the phones battery management system stops charging the battery.

The charger just supplies the power the phone asks for. The higher wattage charger just means it can supply that much, but it only does so to devices that request it.

Battery degradation is slightly higher when fast charging, but it's kept under the limits decided by the phone manufacturer.

  • mine failed after a few months and charging become spasmodic but amazon were happy to process a refund (but not a replacement) without any issues

    • Its a marketplace item, they never replace them, its always a refund.

  • any benefit of getting this versus this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/826860 ?

    • Anker is a reputable brand vs wtf is a zyron?

      • -1

+1 for Zyron, all my chargers are Zyron now, great prices, great power output and they come with a 2m USB C 100w PD cable now.
Had one module fail after like 10 or 11 months and they changed it out for free even though I purchased through amazon. My other 5 Zyron products are still going strong.
I also have an Anker 737 powerbank, they also make good stuff but for a higher price.

I have this and wouldn't recommend. The ports seem to be linked. If you already have one device plugged in, plugging in a second device seems to make the first one disconnect and reconnect. Also, sometimes it won't charge my Apple watch overnight for some reason

    • +2

That happens to almost all of them if my understanding is correct?

      • +3

Yeah I think this is normal, they handshake.

      • Not sure, but sometimes I need to unplug/replug the cable for it to charge my watch (I just did).

    • +3

plugging in a second device seems to make the first one disconnect and reconnect

This is normal behaviour for every single GaN charger on the market. No idea about the Apple Watch though.

    • Yes, can confirm same problem.

I have a Raspberry PI plugged in to USB-A but powered OFF. The moment I connect the phone to USB-C the Raspberry PI will powered ON

    • +3

The newer A2668 might have fixed the issue. I understand the reset is to redistribute power output, a lazy implementation.

A2667 has a fixed power output for all three ports. A2668 has an intelligent power allocation algorithm that can automatically detect and adjust the output to connected devices.

    Models so confusing…

    • I know right, as if 735 is such an icon, they can't call the updated model 735 V2 or Mark II or 736.

      • I got one of them, I dont' know if mine is better or worse than this or the others, like wth..

  • just got an iphone 15 and now want to charge my 65w surface laptop, plus iphone 15, should I get this and just realise that the laptop will go 45w and iphone 20w (hopefully), or do people just plug laptop into this, with a USB-C to USB-C, then charge the iphone from the laptop USB port, so full 65w can go to a laptop?

    • Generally just do the former and plug both of them in, at least in most situations.

      • Yes this. That's why it has 3 ports.

  • Can anyone recommend a 65w USB C charger for a laptop?

Would this one posted be suitable? Specs suggest so, just need something reliable.

  • This is back in stock. I can't see the option to 'Use the report button on the deal so the expiry can be removed' that I get whilst trying to post a new deal.
