You have to head to the hood and collect it. Just ask for Doughboy.

      What are you referring to?

I got my free coffee and it was delicious. I now buy through them, great coffee so far!

      • Yeah..i was suprised when mine arrived. Generous Downtown bag. Get my support.

  • What blend or grinds would you recommend for a basic filter coffee machine?

If it helps anyone (other than those still intent on revenge posts over an earlier free coffee debacle), a rehash from an earlier Inglewood deal:

For us, Roosevelt>Sunset. Downtown also successful. Roosevelt & Downtown are more at the chocolaty/earthy end of the spectrum with Downtown a little more caramel in character. I find Sunset gentler but still nice. Roosevelt is used by a few places that we frequent.

FWIW, we drink fairly strong flat whites with not too much milk. Not really 'black' drinkers - but all these (bar 'Bloom') seem to produce a decent short macchiato.

We have tried Bloom as well. Not good (for my tastes anyway). Very hard to 'dial in'. Probably better for filter-style coffee (ie. NOT for me).

I agree with your assessment. Roosevelt and Downtown were both my favourites. We drink lattes.

        Email spammers company.

    • What does it mean to dial in to coffee, please? I really do like the Roosevelt, and was going to try the Bloom. I don't know what would make a coffee more suitable to filter, so I'm not quite sure how to interpret your comment.

Well, if you like the Roosevelt, I would not stray too far from that. Lovely coffee!

Dial in? To me it means mucking around with the grind settings and extraction time. Even so, I found 'Bloom' a bit too 'fruity' and I struggled to get a mouth filling flavour. It tasted thin. Never had that drama with Roosevelt (or Sunset, or Downtown).

I suspect that Bloom would work better when you are pouring hot water over the ground coffee sitting on filter paper in a V60 holder. I don't think that the 'violence' of an espresso machine is where it shines…

Same… Still awaiting my promised free coffee. Only thing i ever received was email spam.

  • I know some prefer Line Blue here, and I'm not a pro, but I reckon the Inglewood single origins are fantastic at 50 or 60 percent off. I'm drinking them as espressos. Blends also great value.

    Is Downtown good for Latte?

  • Cafe near me does Inglewood, probably the best flavour profile for me personally. Have tried various other roasters in Melbourne, but this one is the best so far.

  • I am honestly not a fan of Inglewood, beans were OK, not bad, not good, but I suppose when they are on sale they are a pretty good deal. If you pay full price then it is over priced compared to the quality.

My main problem with Inglewood is that the roast date on the beans varies wildly from order to order, as do the delivery times, I have had some come within a few days and others take nearly 2 weeks.

    • Yeah honestly the delivery times are the only thing I could complain about with them, their beans are great (probably my favourite so far) but their shipping service could be better.

I'll still use them if a deal lines up with my supply getting low, but it's a little disappointing when it takes almost two weeks for beans to travel between Vic and SA, while I can get stuff from Qld to SA in two days.

      • I've been ordering from them for a year now (only ever when on sale) and theyve been flawless from my experience, SA based for what its worth.

Inglewood always up to no good…

  • Not valid for subscription?

  • After buying from Inglewood for the last year a few things.
Their customer service was awesome when AusPost completely destroyed one of the deliveries, they just had one of their drivers drop of replacement bags the next day.
Their special varietals are good, but I have just tended to stick with the Roosevelt as my day to day - I will buy some other boutique beans from time to time at cafes.
I tend to stock pile the 250g bags, tape up the gas exchange valve and freeze them till needed. I just can't get through the 1kg bags quick enough before they lose some of the freshness.
I'm a happy customer and just buy bulk whenever there is a deal on - this time I bought 5x bags of Roosevelt delivered for $57.

    • Roosevelt is the goods. But I'd buy 5x 1Kg bags for $120. I just put extras into BIG ziplock bags and freeze. Coffee for close to 6 months sorted!

      • Can I ask the issue in freezing the unopened bag directly.

        • Not scientific - but perhaps fits in with the approach that thrillhouse88 has taken - I'm just a tiny bit cautious with/ paranoid about the gas exchange valve behavior.

I should 'test' the theory - but given that I couldn't tell the difference between coffee made with frozen versus fresh beans, I'm not sure that I'd be much wiser for the effort!

Helps that I have a supply of 4.5L bags (Ikea) that I've struggled to find a use for…

  • So 30% of $60 = $42
    40% of $80 = $48
    And 50% of $100 = $50

    So I guess spend a $100 really?
