Either cheaper or out of stock. It's luck of the draw.
However, "cheaper" usually means 30-50% off, and at the current prices we're already there (if you can grab a deal before it expires).
One year, I waited, missed out, and ended up paying a premium. Another year, I bought at the first sale, then there was a glut later on at bargain prices. There's no way to tell which will occur.
Apart from the first year where the CNY sets 80101 and 80102 were especially hard to find (so hard they actually re-released it in limited quantities months later), all subsequent sets have been mass produced (I can only assume as I don't have the figures) that they are not hard to find and can be found on sale after CNY, where they are more than the typical 20% off (we are talking about prior to the Lego price increase in June 2022). I have seen Target reducing them to 50% for last year's sets but when it gets that low, stock will be hard to find.
I could be wrong but I think they can get cheaper, especially this year. In previous years for CNY, they generally released 2 sets at the price points of $100 and $150. This year, it has been increased to $150 and $200 (maybe the piece counts are more compared to previous years). The willingness for large retailers to reduce it to 30% before the CNY may mean that there are worried that stock won't move after CNY.
I did a quick search of last year's sets and 80111 can still easily be found at RRP and some are 20% off. I did see this set still available at a physical toy store I visited although it's at RRP.
I think the deal posted here is still good. But I for one has to cut down on my Lego spending and only get one CNY set this year with 80113 so that I can complete my 12 Chinese zodiac minifig collection.
Any special events for this Luna New Year? As always there will be lion dances at the Asian markets and some Westfields.
