    Creatine ?

    CReaTine ?!

    CREATINE !!!!!!!
  • Creapure?

    • my recollection is that Creapure was only ever made in Monohydrate form, from Germany.

you can buy the atp science one for ~$50 if you must have Creapure.

      link is for reference

      • Is hcl better then monohydrate?

        • there is some discussion in the comments below.

I dont think its worth the extra cost, personally.

    • Does that 0.1% impurities in non-creapure matter? Its not like those impurities are lead or radium.

      • Who knows what it is. Could be uranium

So what's the final verdict on creatine, yey or ney?

So many different studies, opinions about it etc. Personally i didn't feel any benefit from it workout wise, just felt bloated, especially in the abdominal area, all around the stomach.

People used to recommend certaine before as it was giving you that pumped look, draw water to muscle tissue and give a fuller look etc.

    • +1

from my understanding you need to use it long term in combination with a good workout plan and diet… i gave up after 3 months, didnt really see any diff

    • -2

If you took Creatine every day for a year straight. without doing anything. you'd gain 1.5-ish kgs of lean muscles.
Its really good if you exercise, and use it though.

This information is from Jeff Nippard.
      https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Z9mlsyV7Hek

      • Surely not….???

The current wisdom seems to strongly be that creatine allow you to lift more….

Its only if you use that to then actually lift more that you get the benefit.

        • +1

It causes water retention in your muscles. So your muscles have to get a bit bigger.

Along with the other short term benefits, including mental alertness apparently.

    • +6

It's the most studied supplement and the answer is yes, but about 20% of people are non-responders so there's always that.
There is evidence that Creatine HCL leads to less water retention than the Monohydrate form.

Definitely yey from me, as long as you take it long term every day. However, I'm not too familiar with HCL (cos I take monohydrate) or this particular brand. You will notice a strength and bulk as long as you take it properly.

    • +2

Creatine is one of the very few supplements worth taking IMO.

Bloating should go away after loading phase. You can just take a maintenance dose instead to avoid the bloating, but will take longer to start to take effect.

    • -1

It definitely works, although you really need to know your upper limits to see the difference. Is not going to change anything you see really not going to failure.

Also the water storage and bloated look/ feel is a placebo and broscience. IT only stores small amounts of water intramuscularly for energy conversion. You should not be able to see any difference

      My 28" pythons say yeh.

    • -1

      Short answer: Yes

      Long answer: Double yes

    • Works for me. But just get the cheapest you can find. Currently there are a few sellers on ebay selling for just under $40 for 1kg delivered.

  • +9

Whether it works or not, still don't think it is a good deal. You can get a KG for $44.
    https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/creatine-monohydra…

    • +25

yeah there's no way creatine HCL warrants almost a 9 times the cost difference.

Just buy the cheapest creatine monohydrate you can get.

    • +1

Agree that not everyone needs the HCL but for someone like me who has bloating problems with monohydrate no matter when I take or which brand I take, this is a good deal.

Give this a go only if you have had persistent bloating issues taking monohydrate.

I don't think this should be downvoted just because monohydrate is cheaper and suitable for most people. This is a niche product and considering the usual price, this is a pretty good deal.

Btw, I use this product and while I can't speak for better absorption, I can confirm that this produces no bloating and dissolves well in water. Bear in mind, this is not unflavoured but rather unsweetened lemon flavoured.

    100gms give you 133 serves?
0.75gm per serve. Am I missing something?
Concentrated formula - but is 0.75gm of this product equivalent of?

    • That's a good question — creatine HCL typically has much smaller serving sizes than creatine monohydrate as it is more easily absorbed by the body.

    • +8

HCL is more soluable than mono but studies have shown that it does not necessarily mean more bioavailability.

So you still should be taking 3 to 5 grams per day

750mg is a dose for ants

      • +1

750mg is a dose for ants

is this in powder form? you're also gonna have to budget for some fancy scales and mom's gonna get suspicious.

        • +1

At least 750mg is small enough to snort for immediate bioavailability

  • Looks like same price at elite supps, not free post but there for some reason seem to be a lot of elite supp branches popping up in last 12 months so might be more convenient for some.

      username cheks out.

  • Wonder whether they purify this from meat?

    • I expect it's synthesised by bacteria.

  • I am not convinced that HCL is better than MonoHydrate as some companies claim. Until i see some research data saying this i am sticking to cheaper MonoHydrate.

Not a deal.. get the normal creatine from chemist warehouse, much cheaper and just hit the gym

    • Dear Doctor, Is it possible to get normal creatine from meat and fish?

      • I only eat chicken so wouldn't know, I'm seeing gains on normal creatine. So it works

        • -1

          Eat kangaroo

      • I think the cooking process with heat deactivates most of it

      • yes creatine is a natural thing in meat and fish, but to get the equivalent load you'd also be adding all the other stuff (calories) and paying for a lot more meat.

    • Get it from Bulk Nutrients. Much cheaper

  • +2

Great for all the drug dealers to further cut their stuff! Bargain for them!

    • +1

      Gains & good times.. winning!

  • +3

As others have said, go to the gym, get the cheapest form of creatine..this is a ridiculous price.

  • Not a deal, just marketing BS

  • +1

    $300/kg for creatine?

  • Not a great deal, can buy 2x 250g of Creatine Mono for $37.50 delivered from https://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/creatine-monohydra… using a 5% off coupon (I1J2I2885 OR SS5OFF OR THRIFTY)

Which is cheaper than buying the stuff from Coles https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-perform-elite-unflavo…

    • +3

I bought 1 box of short expiry last year for $40.
It had 12 tubs of creatine mono @ 500g each.

Should last a few years and creatine is stable for at least 5 years post BB Date

      • Hell yeah thats a deal. Where was that from SuppsRus or Bulknutrients?
I've just started a new cycle of Creatine this week, pretty sure the stuff im necking is out of date too lol

        • Just a local store. I usually do a round every now and then to supp stores looking for short dated , post BB date and make then an offer

Hi guys, as a long time lurker I figured I'd dive down the rabbit hole on this one, given that the seller has provided zero scientific evidence for such bold claims.

The source of the increased solubility appears to be this article which is referenced in other journals as being credible, though it is locked behind a paywall. https://doi.org/10.3109/19390211.2010.491507

The main source of increased bio-availability claim comes from a theoretical model developed via ONLY testing CM on rats: https://doi.org/10.3390/pharmaceutics10010031

This expansive review is an excellent source for all things creatine but I found these two quotes to be most relevant: https://doi.org/10.3390/nu14051035

"Research has clearly shown that CrM is not degraded into creatinine during normal digestion, it is nearly 100% bioavailable [12,25,58,59], and markedly increases blood and tissue creatine content. There are no data showing that any other purported form of creatine is more effective in increasing tissue creatine content than CrM [62]. Therefore, claims that a given form of creatine is more effectively absorbed than CrM because it is more soluble in water is unsupported marketing hyperbole." (Sec 6. Solubility)

"Thus, while Cr-HCl is a simple salt that should readily disassociate into creatine and HCL, there is no evidence that Cr-HCl is absorbed more effectively than CrM in humans; Cr-HCl promotes greater muscle creatine retention than CrM at equivalent doses; or, that lower doses of Cr-HCl are as effective as standard supplementation protocols with CrM. Given this analysis, Cr-HCl is classified in some evidence category to support efficacy compared to placebo. However, claims that Cr-HCl is more bioavailable, effective, and/or a safer source of creatine than CrM are not supported." (Sec 9.4 Creatine HCL)

It is also worth noting that most of the limited research on the topic of Creatine HCL provide doses of 1.5-3g, not 0.75g.

TLDR: Creatine HCL is very poorly researched in comparison to Creatine Monohydrate. Maybe HCL is worth a try if you experience severe bloating with CM, otherwise there is no reason to divert from the tried, tested and cheaper alternative.
