LOL straight up trying to steal customers away from Qantas. Aggressive! I guess the transparency is good and will only bring competition for the flying kangaroo to get better

    • Can’t steal anyone with fees lol. Unlike Qantas eihad is not part of any airline alliance. So perks will be very limited except for some code share arrangements etihad has with some airlines. Unless you wanna go to Europe, most of the destinations in Asia have direct flight from Aus and few cities in North America, one in South America and one in Africa, so I don’t see very many fly on etihad. Time matters to me.

So im Qantas platiunum, I can 'apply' for a status match which they'll give me Etihad Gold at best for 3 months before I need to fly with them, which I need to pay $99USD to apply for?

Don't really get much sense of a deal unless I specifically was going to book with Etihad in the near future.

    • You can apply to garuda and Turkish airline. So you have platinum on both star alliance and sky team. Fully awesome perks to have for 3 months and if you take one flight, it will be extended to 12 months.

  • Too bad Etihad don’t have domestic flights, I choose them over Qantas

    • +1

They have reciprocal benefit with Virgin I think.

      • +1

Correct, etihad Guest Gold = Velocity Gold

For those who cbf reading the FAQ.

…valid for 3 months and can be extended for an additional 12 months with the condition of travelling on at least 1 (one) Etihad-operated flight that has an Etihad flight number and earns at least 1 Etihad Guest Mile into your Etihad Guest account within the validity of the upgraded tier.

…US $59 for Silver qualifying applicants and US $99 for Gold applicants.

So you'll need to pay a bit of money, and also book & travel on an Etihad flight - but I'm not sure when that needs to happen, I presume it's within the 3 months.

Essentially you're paying $99 USD to access a nice lounge when you fly on Etihad (if you're not already a member).

  • Can you just upload a picture of your photo shopped membership card?

    • And give yourself 1 gazillion bazillion million points while at it

    • +1

Yes. People dont like it though but yes, I have seen it happen way too many times.

There is no way to check to see if a status is indeed correct which is why some may ask for an activity statement. The exception if the airline is a partner to the matching carrier, then they may have a system check in place.

      • Hah, might try this

        • Did it work

      • +3

its very easy to do 2 changes to inspect element on chrome from your ff account.

        change <div class="membership-tier-wrap bronze"> to <div class="membership-tier-wrap gold">
        change <div class="column false">Bronze </div> to <div class="column false">Gold</div>

will change the colour and text

      • It says statusmatch.com will authenticate your status prior to the match

Terrible as far as status matches go. You have to pay AUD 152 for only 3 months worth and travel on a paid Etihad flight to extend the status for 12 months.

A real status match should be free and lasts for at least 12 months.

    • Qatar status matched last from 2020 till March 2024 🤣

Submitted a CLPO match, lets see what happens

They are obviously targeting high net worth individuals, to snatch them from Air Asia, Air India Express, Vistara and other distinguished airlines.

It seems that this is also open to students, as they will match Chairman's Lounge membership.

    • Don't think high net worth individuals will travel on Air Asia…

      • /whoosh/

    • Hopefully we can match Air Asia status to Etihad.

  • how fast the application is approved? Any idea?

Did any one try to status match air Canada?

Or knows how to do it via second status match with one of the airlines above and then to Etihad?

    • I tried matching to Turkish but got declined

  • Anyone else having trouble signing up to Etihad as a new member at the moment?
I wonder if they've disabled new member sign up during this period.

Interesting. Has anyone with SQ's KF Gold Elite done this yet?
