New Dishwasher Either Bosch or Miele? Looking for a Bargain

Hi our Miele dishwasher died after many years of loyal service need to find a replacement.

Tossing up between another Miele or Bosch series 6.

Any decent deals around?

Also looking, Bosch just died after 9 years. Looking at Bosch 8 series, Miele 7 series and the Asko models 5 and 7 series of which are $500 off regular price. The Asko newer onces seems okay, Miele price seems to be controlled by Miele.

Is your Miele freestanding, semi- or fully-integrated? If it's a freestander you should be able to find one at the Miele outlet… but I see there isn't one in Perth any more. There must be an alternative retail channel for ex-demo Miele over there?

    • I can buy freestanding, so are they selling refurbished or new etc?

      also freestanding

Miele use the agency model for selling their products so basically their prices are fixed and no discount is available

    • This. Indeed this is how they get around competition law that ordinarily allows a retailer to sell a product for whatever they like - a manufactured cannot enforce a recommended retail price.

I've had a Beko for a couple of years and am happy with it. Cleans well and was cheap. Not a premium brand by any stretch, but it's likely to cost half what a Miele costs.

Agree 100%. I just bought a Beko and I'm very happy with its performance.
The 5 year warranty is peace of mind.

  • Bosch
    else
Euromaid - it's a bit of a dark horse but bought one around 7 years ago now for $399 and it's still going strong.

Outlasted my previous asko by at least 2 years and washes better.

  • Do you have access to GoodGuys Commercial prices? or another similar thing?

My time is worth more than a dishwasher in the long run.

We had a Bosch years ago that lasted at least 10 years, probably 15. Replaced it with a newer model Bosch, also European made, but it doesn't seem to wash as well.

I've had the exact same experience.

In the past 3 years, we’ve had both Bosch Serie 6 (German made with cutlery drawer), then moved house and had a cheap 3 yo Miele, which we sold and replaced with another Miele (7319 XXL). The Bosch was honestly awesome! The cheap Miele (base model) was average at best. The better Miele is also awesome - we chose this over the Bosch because we specifically needed a semi-integrated model with a panel on the front.

For value for money, go a German Bosch (Serie 6) with cutlery drawer. Dont buy the base model Miele.

  • Our first Bosch was purchased in 1985 and was still running fine in 2019 when we sold the house…
Over that 34yrs it never missed a beat, no service calls, it just ran day after day…
If our new (German) Bosch lasts just half as long I will be more than happy.
    3yrs on it's doing a great job, touch wood…

    • my german made series 6 is having issues cleaning and the lower sump floods sometimes. Just hit 11 years

I had a Bosch fridge that died 3 weeks into the end of the warranty. The Bosch service dept took their time in weeks to respond despite my countless calls. That happened during summer when we had to buy food every freaking day. Did they care? Nada. The part they replaced turned out to be a refurbished item. I will never consider their products.
