  • Not sure why it says expired. The code still works.

How do these compare to a backbone?

    • OP copy/paste'd the title from a previous deal.

      • thanks edited.

    • Appears to have a better quality than BB/Kishi. BB might have better app support.

    • +1

Less compact but more comfortable to use. Feels similar to an Xbox controller in terms of size.

The V2 backbone specifically advertise case support but the G8 doesn’t. Both work on my 15 Pro Max in a Bullstrap leather case however. I suspect the backbone will support more cases without any modifying of the unit.

The G8 can be modified to take an iPad mini if you want a particularly large display. See Reddit for that.

Possibly a bug with the game, but on iOS Inside doesn’t seem to detect the backbone properly but the G8 works fine. Possibly how the device presents to the OS and some bad game code. Oddly enough if I connect a GameSir at startup of that game then switch to the Backbone, the backbone works fine. Raised with the devs and they said they’d look into the Backbone behaviour. I haven’t had issues in the 2 or 3 other games I’ve played, including Limbo by the same developer as Inside.

    • not comparable. Your one is BT only. This one is physical connector that does signal and, passthru charging at the same time. AND 3.5mm audio out

      • +1

They are comparable. They are both controllers for mobile devices.

What you meant to say is this one has the advantage of physical connection, passthrough charging and 3.5mm audio out.

  • I have purchased one before, directly from China for around $80. I was so surprised by the quality. The feeling of haptic feedback is so consistent and everything feels premium. I'm not a hardcore player so unsure about the precision etc, but I do think it does feel better than my xbox and ps5 controller in terms of haptic, and is way better than my legion go.

    • The G8 doesn’t have haptic feedback.

      • +1

Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker and am having some misunderstandings here. By the haptic, I just mean the physical feeling of the buttons, sticks and triggers.

  • -1

Not sure about GameSir, but I got the T1 with the latest firmware and I get the left/right drift, make it unplayable to play, so I'm avoiding GameSir for now.

    • +2

It is highly unlikely you will encounter stick drift with the G8 as they use hall effect sensors.

  • I got one whilst I was in HK for about this price.. but well worth it especially in comparison to the X2/X3 and the Razors (which I also have). The analogue triggers are so much better than previous gen stuff.

Because it has handles, it is chunkier to carry around compared to the other stuff, but it feels so much better to play with and you can play it for a longer time without cramping as a result. Plays everything I've thrown at it very well (yes, including EggNS).

  • Compat with the Z Fold series?

    • Yes.. But without the case though

      • Fold 4 with the Samsung case works but have to put a bit of pressure so that the USB-C connection is made but the after that, it stays connected.

  • how do you guys keep the phone cool with these designs having that bar that covers up the rear of the phone? thermals must be terrible after playing?

If Retro Game Corp says its good. It is good. And he saids G8 > Backbone / Kishi v2 by 5-10x (kinda funny relative measurement, but you get his point).

  • Great deal on the Gamesir G8 Galileo Mobile Gaming Controller! Just ordered mine for A$99.44 delivered. The StudentBeans US discount brings it down to an even better price at $96.05. Excited to level up my mobile gaming experience with this controller.

  • What games do you all play? I can't think of a game that I really needs a controller like this….yes please convince me!

  • i have an S24U in a Quadlock MAG Case.

How does this go with phones in thickish cases?

  • received mine today. very good quality

    • what phone are you using it with?

      • pixel 5/iphone15 pro

        • using it with thickish cases?

I see Amazon have dropped the price to $130, wonder if the extra is worth it for the warranty/easy returns

          • @nhutty: no issues with a thick case.

iPhone pro max 6.7" is the best size.

  • Thanks guys, ordered one just as my Razer Kiishi V1 died. Hopefully this will last longer.
