This is by far the most useless product I have seen in a long time…

    • +5

Yes and no. Some people (maybe it's an asian thing?) don't like splashes hitting the tiles and potentially discolouring the grout

      • +1

I hate frying oily things as it makes the floor oily and mopping doesn't take it all away. But the most important part of the product would be to cover the front, which this can't do otherwise you can't reach around to manoeuvre the pan

        • +3

          Body block with an apron.

        • +5

The easiest way is flatten the massive Amazon boxes, lay it on the floor prior to frying. Once you are done, bin it.

You can do the same with the kitchen tiles.

          • @supersaintly: I don't have any spare 😭 have cut back on my Amazon shop past year lol. I used to line it with paper/catalogues but nearly tripped once walking on it.

      • +1

You just gotta clean the mess after you cook. If you leave the oil splashes for a while then yes, you'll get hard to remove stains

    • +2

Why? It saves trying to cover the surrounds of the stove with newspaper if you're frying or cooking something particularly splatter-y.

      • +6

How is cleaning this any easier than cleaning the benchtop and tiles/splashback after cooking?

Looks handy for outdoor cooking, to block the wind.

        • +2

Well in our case we have things near our stove such as dishes, spice rack etc etc, so this is a handy way to stop splatters on all those things. Sure if you have nothing nearby and can just wipe down it's not necessary, but in some cases these are great!

How is cleaning this any easier than cleaning the benchtop and tiles/splashback after cooking?

You can go to town with dishwashing liquid and a sponge at your sink rather than reach back and wipe slightly awkwardly with kitchen cleaner. Splattery foods can also splatter off to the sides all over nearby appliances; this lets you contain the splatter to a smaller area for easier cleaning.

You can also decide to clean it once a week without worrying about splatter permanently staining grout or surfaces.

    • +2

Yes I think I can sleep easy without acquiring this.

    • +4

Its good for rental/apartments where landlords a too cheap to put any sort of splash back etc

      • Which is becoming an increasingly popular option in newer builds these days. Anything to cheap out on the end costs.

        • +1

Then they'll bill you for damages to their wall

This is by far the most useless product I have seen in a long time…

This is how you tell somebody's lucky to have a spacious, well-designed kitchen. You're probably in the top 3% of the society, congrats!

Or you're the pro chef with all the skill and gear to cook without splashing - that's maybe 0.003% of the society.

      • -3

It's fairly useless if you have a 6 burner stove top / 900mm wide.

        • +1

Easy solution, just buy two. :)

If you have a Daiso nearby, they sell these pretty cheap… from memory under $10

    • Are they 40cm tall?

      • +11

I have one from Daiso and just did a measure for you @Dollar Dreamer, the one I got is 50cm tall and it was $6ish.

        • Do you have a photo of it? There are so many variables here, is it stainless steel, the width, depth, etc. Would be great if you can.

    • I got one from Daiso and it was $3.90

      • -2

Could you upload a photo? That would be best for comparison.

        • +3

Look I'm not saying the Daiso one is top of the range quality, or very large which I'm sure this deal is for the price. But for my purpose of surrounding the pan so that the floor doesn't get oil spatters it's functional. For this deal, it seems to serve the opposite of my purpose as if I use it to cover the front, I can't reach around to cook with the pan. I don't care covering the back and sides as it's easy to wipe the counter and splash back but i have a burning hatred for mopping

There were other sizes but I chose this for the design. Would I pay 10x more for something slightly bigger and sturdier, well no I wouldn't.

          • +1

@MeesusEff: Mmm that looks like thick aluminium foil; this is made of rigid aluminium sheets. Functionally probably close enough, but I'm not surprised this one costs more.

    • +1

I was going to recommend this as well. Daiso ones are much cheaper!

    • Are they steel though?

  • For a moment I thought those pans were couches and it got me interested in creating portable bedrooms in the leaving room area lol

    • +2

      leaving room

      How much?

      • departure room

  • Perfect for toddlers eating at the table thanks OP

    • So that you can eat in peace and not have to talk to anyone at the dinner table?

  • Sold out. Ozbargained in 35 mins. Price pumped to $54 now.

A solution to this problem already exists. It's called uber eats.

You need more words for this deal..

Instead of stuffing the deal description with junk, why not add information about the deal itself so OzBargainers can make a more informed decision without having to click through? Almost none of your description is actually helpful.

    • +1

Does this product really need a lengthy description though? It's pretty straight-forward.

  • Sunday fry-ups!

  • Also works well set up behind laptop as a splash guard for… never mind.
