  • Fantastic deal

  • Tempting…

  • Which one to buy though?

    • Probably the q revo.

      • Is it not worth the $480 price difference?
It looks to have a fair few features though.

      • +1

You don't sound sure. What am I missing in the Q Revo compared to the S8? Looks like an extra 500Pa suction and slightly different mopping mechanism

        • You'll want to check the docks. They're not the same.

        • +1

What are you missing? Nothing. The rotating mops systems work better IMO and you will find that above ~3000 Pa is a waste of power & excess noise. Just be sure to maintain the filter and brushes.

          • @frontier: Did some more research and actually prefer the Q Revo over the S8 now

Price drop is due to the MaxV coming out.
S7 MaxV is now S7 Max.
      MaxV models have the camera

  • Do we know if JB will price match? How reputable is buying from mobileciti?

    • They don't normally match lower prices where coupons are used. Perfectly safe buying from Mobileciti too. These aren't grey imports.

  • +2

Also, I wonder why the price drop. This is an all-time low, plus Amazon and the rest only recently had a rocket drop to 2100~> now $1750. What, is the s9 on the horizon?

  • Valetudo, anyone?

  • Bought one during boxing day sale from HN and been using it everyday since - couldn't be happier with it! The only minor issue is that it won't clean/mop the wall corners, the new version will fix it. But still highly recommended

  • +2

S8 Pro Ultra or Dreame L20 Ultra ?

  • I believe Mobileciti has an Amex charge which is quite high and jbhifi doesn't. Also keen to know where to get these gift cards 😁

  • Thanks OP, bought one

  • +1

I’ve been looking at the S8 Pro Ultra for months now, since it’s Choice’s top rated robovac+mop for pet hair. Best price I’ve seen before now is around $2100 so this is a huge saving

  • bought for $2200 from bing Lee with $330.gift card

  • +1

Highly recommend these machines. Got a S7 MaxV Ultra and cleans the house every morning before we wake up. Obstacle recognition is even better on the S8 I believe.

    • +1

Worse, actually. The S8 Pro misses out on the S7 MaxV’s camera system.

      • +3

Interestingly, it looks like they’re bringing that back with the S8 MaxV Ultra.

I realise that this post is about the S8 Pro, but I thought worth mentioning.

  • I am actually waiting for Taobao, only around 1000, of course, needs to pay tariff if more than 1000, still a bargain, if you understand Chinese, you can do a bit of "negotiation" on selling price :)

    • +5

Beware that Chinese Dreame and Roborock models most likely have region lock.

    • I assume you know stock roborock from Taobao are region locked - will need a by-pass router, or replace the mother board.

  • I think better wait for S8 MaV that will be releases in 2 months time, It has so many improvements

but if you want cheaper and still good vacuum cleaner go ahead with this deal S8 Pro Ultra that op post.

    That is just my opinion

What's the aus price of the Max and MaxV likely to be? Guessing approx $3k/$3.2k, with a bargain/deal getting them down to $2.5k/$2.7k? And is Roborock's history of release to store availability pretty good (i.e. is April realistic to have it delivered)?

I love the idea of some of those additional features, while I'd have no dramas paying an extra few hundred for them, I'm not sure they're worth an extra $700-$1000 and a couple of months wait.

Will weigh it up, but 3 months ago I promised myself I'd snap this S8 Ultra 8+ up the moment it dropped below $2k… now weighing up if $1750 is good enough lol

      • +1

And is Roborock's history of release to store availability pretty good (i.e. is April realistic to have it delivered)?

I ordered my roborock s8 direct from them in November and it only just arrived last week.

And yes… 1750 is worth it.

      • +1

The S8 Ultra will have significantly more powerful suction than the S8 Pro (10k vs 8k), and they are reverting to the obstacle detection system in the S7 Ultra.

  • +1

So people love roborock at $1750 and complain about dyson at $1200? I know it's apples and oranges but it still seems off

    • +2

Because with that Dyson you’re just getting a vacuum, no self cleaning, no automation, etc.

You still need to put the work in and you can get cheaper alternatives that don’t skimp on function/features, whereas the tech for robot vacuums is actually worth it. Ever watched or tried a cheap robo vacuum? Either it just sucks (figuratively) or the app and it sucks.

Roborock/iRobot and other Xiaomi derivatives are the only ones that are worth it.

      • Like I said though that's accounted for in the $500 price difference

They both seem overpriced to me

        • When you go RoboVac you will never go back.

If you value time, you need to experience it before judging it on price.

  • Get the Q revo or wait for the Q revo maxV model? Have kids so better obstacle avoidance is the main benefit?

    • I think that's the new model with the corner brush/corner mop function ?

  • +1

Almost bought one on FB marketplace for the same price with no warranty.

    Got this one instead.

  • Gonna wait till people start selling them for nothing because the battery is tired.

They're easy to replace and most people just give them away.

    • What’s the battery type and where can I get one?

      • I just search for my model on eBay + battery. They're all different

  • https://amzn.asia/d/5DUJpCf - any feedback on this

  • Bugger, been waiting for a deal like this!!!!! Missed it.

  • +1

I have an s8 pro ultra. I’ve never had a robot vac before. This thing is brilliant. Cannot recommend them highly enough
