    Been looking for a while

When is the Tenbot coming out?

  • Current firmware v1.7 seems to prevent the speed hack from 25 to 35km/hr. Any ideas how to work around this? Forums are saying that the controller needs to be replaced.

    • Hope that they're shipping one without the latest firmware.

I don’t know about this specific model, but I recently got a P65 and using downg to change the serial number got me from a 25 to 35.

FYI I was forced to update firmware during initial setup. There might be a workaround for this tho.

      • Going 35km does that tax the battery any more or its around the same? Can you use Downg for G65 too?

        • It does use much more because as you go faster the drag increases at a higher rate. That is double the speed, roughly quadruple the drag.

I think downg works on all Segways. The P65 isn’t listed in the app but I am able to connect and edit certain things. So I think it would work on the G65. I don’t know if the serial hack works for that model either.

    • Could you provide links to some good forums please?
I would like to investigate this scooter,

      Thanks.

I bought my Segway MAX G2 about 2 months ago and this is the 4th Segway that I have speed hacked and it was by far the hardest.
I went to either the Xiaodash or Scooterhacking app (I can't remember which one) then I had to change the serial number of the scooter, from memory the second digit was the number 2 and I needed to change it to the number 1, I also had to change the region to global. After all this you can no longer use the Segway app, but you can still use the hacking apps to change all your preferences, though I'm not sure about the "Apple Find My Device (scooter)". But what I did was while it was still locked I changed all my preferences to what suited me then I unlocked the Segway MAX G2 using the hacking app. Within these scooter hacking apps you can still change a lot of the features just like you could in the official app. But Segway is making it so difficult to unlock their scooters that I will probably pay the extra and buy the Segway MAX G2 Global Edition, 35kph max speed $1,399 or whatever is the latest equivalent when I want to upgrade my scooter.
BTW the MAX G2 is a fantastic scooter, it goes fast enough for me, 35kph. I just sold my Segway P100SE as it went a bit too fast for my liking, 48kph! Of course I could just ride slower but it was difficult to allow those extra watts go unused and I couldn't help myself and at that speed you would not want to fall off. The other thing I like about the MAX G2 is that it looks like the older models and therefore I think it is less of a theft magnet, and with the front and rear suspension it's such a comfortable ride.
      I highly recommend this scooter.

      • I got the Global one linked to in this comment and I'd definitely say it's worth it as you really wouldn't want to be stuck at 25kmph. It seems really slow. 35 is much better.

        • Yes I agree, 35kph is the sweet spot for me. At 25kph my child can keep up with me on his skate park scooter.

      • I did this and re-paired the scooter with the official Segway App and now it works fine with both apps.

        Bought today, firmware 1.51

        • That's interesting, do you have a tutorial link to how this is done?

        • In response to my first reply I just noticed your comment below on how you got it unlocked and working on the Segway app, I'll give it a shot.

pity you basically cant use them anywhere in NSW

(probably could if the riders of them werent such absolute dicks - wanting to hack speed to break law is a dead giveaway)

    • -2

move to VIC - been LEGAL for ever

      • +4

hehe but then theres the whole living in VIC issue :P

        p.s. i have family there
        p.p.s. I never visit them :)

    • +1

      Soon hopefully.
They're running trials or at least looking for councils to run them and have been since the end of last year: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/projects/current-projects/n…

By soon, I mean hopefully sooner than never.

      • They're going pretty well in Wollongong now that the novelty has worn off a bit and people are starting to use them to actually get a around a bit..but the geofencing is too severe to be genuinely useful.

Wow, it's so cheap compared to the JB Hi-Fi price of $1699 I saw last night. But I bought the previous version @ $699 3-4 years ago.

    • Can get them to price match, and then use 10% off GC

  • Ended up getting one from Jb-Hifi.
    Firmware was still 1.51.

Will do some reading on how to unlock!

    • Took 2mins to change the serial to a global one. 35kmh unlocked!

      • Please send me link or the steps you followed to unlock the max peed

        • +1

          I followed Pukeyluke's instructions

          Download Xiaodash
          Connect to scooter
          Changed to Global Model
          Changed serial to 01GX….

Then that unlocked 32kmh, rode a bit, that got it to 35kmh.

Then went back to the Segway App. It said something about serial mismatch. But I just removed the scooter and re-added it, and it was fine after that. I can still change all the settings through the Segway App.

I had Firmware 1.51 out of the box. It does ask to upgrade to 1.70, but it's not forced on you.

          • @Pigey: That's awesome. Thanks, I tried connecting with Xiaodash and could not change region or serial number. Should not have upgraded firmware to v.1.70

            Such an amazing eScooter nevertheless

            • +1

              @ChatGPT-4: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/city-beach-perth/other-sport…

This guy claims to be able to do a software mod for Firmware 1.70. This is what he said to me

"I’m in City Beach, yeah no hardware. I’m of the belief that no one else knows how to do this, which I know sounds weird - but the only option out there is the hardware change. I own the scooter myself, and I’ve done it on a few others, so it definitely works and is completely reversible but just unbinding the scooter 12:"

              • +1

@Pigey: Thanks, will give him a try as I don't want the hassle of stripping out the hardware controller

              • +1

@Pigey: Thanks @Pigey - I visited Paul today and sorted it out in 5mins for me. Hit max speed of 35km/hr on my way home today

                • @ChatGPT-4: Wow, make sure you keep that battery above 65% though. It'll slow down to 30-32 below that.

Can you briefly explain what he did?

                  • +1

@Pigey: Not sure which app he used but he connected and used it to push some HEX code to force the region and serial number change. I won't be upgrading firmware ever again :-D

                    • @ChatGPT-4: Not sure what method he used, but may have been this. Worked for me in 2 minutes running 1.51 firmware. I didn't unbind the scooter from the Segway app, just need to make sure the app is closed and not connected via bluetooth prior to starting the process. Note the Segway app will still show max speed of 25kmh, however the scooter will hit >32kmh. Would be keen to know if it works on 1.70 also.

                      • @aliasneo2000: Wow, I reckon this is exactly what he might have done. I'm on v1.70 and he was able to unlock the max speed for me

          • +1

@Pigey: Thanks for posting this, the other thing is no need to ride for a while to unlock 35. There is a setting in xiaodash - unlock higher speed S, turn that on and it allows 35

    • Did you price match in store? They refuse to do it over chat saying they aren't an authorised dealer.

      • +1

Don't think it matters? They're selling identical Australian stock.

Try the next chat agent. I did mine online

  • $1288 at Segway website with code G288 + Free Helmet

    • Good find. How much is the helmet worth?

JB Gift Card price match and gift card stack is probably the cheapest way to obtain.

More likely to get 1.70 firmware as well from Segway.

    • Is there a link to this? I can't seem to find this promo

  • do anyone know if there is a space for a kid to stand in the front if adult is sitting on the seat?

Don't forget 99 Bikes price beat by 5%.

  • +3

Thanks just bought from 99 Bikes! $1139.05 delivered

    • do you mind sharing which store u got it from and how u got it delivered? I'm quite keen on getting it for $1139.05

      • I’m guessing that’s the 99 Bikes price guarantee. So any store should match it.

        • I asked because the store sales person said it was below cost and he doesn't have approval so he suggested making a price beat request online so the approval comes from HQ and come back to him so I did. I received an email confirming the price beat so I went back into the store to the sales person. Although he was happy and professional to help, I felt bad because it was below cost which meant the store was going to cop a lost, I just hope he personally doesn't loose any commission for this sell.

          • +1

@PavloXYZ: I went to a Perth store and they honoured it no questions asked. They did not blink an eye at the discount.
But…they said they honor the price without delivery. I think the RideHub price included delivery. But ultimately it was still cheaper via 99Bikes.
They wanted $25 delivery. I looked at Didi and it was $10 to get home and the box fits on the back seat of pretty much any car.

            • +2

@seagu11: I went to JB Hi-Fi to see if they'd price match 99 bikes 5% price beat ($1,139.05) as I had some left over gift cards to use. They said price matching Ride Hub at $1,199 was no issue, but could only get to $1,160 as it was below cost, however they'd chuck in a 3-year extended warranty (5 years total). Figured $20 for 3 years warranty wasn't bad given I could use my gift vouchers. Beast of a scooter too once you speed unlock it. Literally took 2 minutes and can still use it with the Segway app.

              • @aliasneo2000: I was looking at speed unlock. Actually happy with 25kph. But I am in a hilly area and could use the extra speed to ramp up when approaching a steeper incline. Buts that's the only reason I would use the extra speed.
How did u unlock ur 1?
I don't have an android phone. im iPhone.

                • @seagu11: Link below. I upgraded with the 1.51 firmware using my iPhone (works with Android too). Not sure if it works with 1.70 firmware (latest), but would be keen to know. Literally took me 2 minutes. The app will still show 25kmh as max speed, but the scooter will go >32kmh. Some methods will say to unbind the scooter with the Segway app but apparently rebinding it may overwrite the speed hack.

                  https://docs.google.com/document/d/16Icy_Hvx-j-amCTEWHQFzNtZ…

                  • @aliasneo2000: Thx for the link. I will take a look and if I try it I will let you know the outcome.
I'm gonna search online first to see if anyone has had experience with the most recent firmware. But the extra boost on the local hills is needed.

                  • @aliasneo2000: Out of interest how do peeps pump up the tyres on the Segway G2?
The gas station pump errored out a few times on the front tyre, and wouldn’t do anything on the back tyre.
If I connect my bike pump to the provided pump valve then it inflates - but let’s put too much air when disconnecting the valve.

                    • @seagu11: Have only owned mine for 4 days, but the following may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYJOnnihdNE

                      • @aliasneo2000: FYI: The G2 is meant to go to 42-48psi.

Read the comments on that video - and you’ll see the big design failure on the tyre pumping
I am already using the method in the video. When you unscrew the (provided) pump extender it lets out most of the air.
What is missing is a valve blocker inside the extender.

2 options I saw in the comments are:
                        - Partially screw in the pump extender to the tyre valve (there’s a sweet-spot). That way less air is lost when unscrewing.
                        - Overpressure the tyre by 5psi to compensate for some of the air lost when unscrewing the pump extender.

                        • @seagu11: Haha, good to know! Pretty funny how they skimped on a 2c piece on the pump extender yet everything on the scooter itself is engineered perfectly.

      • Apologies for the delayed response. Just submitted it online for a price match on 99 bikes website and got an approval email a few hours later. So must be from head office then just paid online. It got delivered yesterday so much fun. Now i just gotta figure out how to do the speed hack.

    • Careful. This is the Max 2 G65. Different model. It doesn't have indicators or a motor that's as powerful as this G2 that has been posted.
