  • I feel like they run these every 2-3 months.

    • How long do you feel you've been an OzB member though?

Enough for me to be concerned about how much SB/CR cashback I have…

        • You just reminded me that cashback is a thing, thanks! Found nearly $400 waiting for me from various purchases. Next round is on me

Anyone got the kitchen mixer tap? Does it pull out a good distance?

    • +6

      That's what she said

    • +13

I'm using it instead of garden hose.

    • +8

Yes, retuned it the same day.

Poor quality and the metal coating chipped which became an instant hazard to cutting yourself.

      • That's bad πŸ™„

        • That's $90. You can get better quality but might run you $900. That said I got the non-pull-out-so-much-simpler one for $40 on clearance a couple years back. So far looks and functions like new.

    • We bought a mixer tap from aldi 4 years ago, and works great. I think i had to buy something from bunnings to tighten it though. Looks the same, but might be different.

The tap head started leaking water out of the spray switch when tap on, about 3 weeks after installation. I ended up buying a replacement head on eBay and it's worked like a charm since.

      So no, not great quality.

  • Damn, I dont think these are the ones that included bonus free lead contamination unfortunately.

    • not only that, stainless steel has smooth internal surface unlike the copper, copper will develop black stain inside. Stainless steel tap has been popular in China for some years, Australia is really lack behind.

Will need to keep an eye out for what Bunnings will offer as competition.

Thoughts on Enduroshield glass treatment? Just reno’d our bathrooms and have new shower screens. I’ve read very polarising reviews

    • Personally, I don't think the extra amount of time and effort to apply it was worth it for the slightly lesser amount of cleaning.

    • I've had mixed results. We had both bathrooms fitted with new glass shower screens about 2 years ago. One still has the water beading perfectly and super easy to clean whereas the other has undergone two separate coats with a third pending. It may by due to the way I applied it (shrug) but that bathroom does get used a little more than the other so that's probably a factor.

  • Are mixer taps hard to install?

I've managed to put a special non vibration type washer in one of my taps before, is it much more involved than that (relatively speaking)?

Not at all mate, easy as if you already have isolation taps too.

      • thanks, that's good to hearπŸ‘ I'm not sure what isolation taps are,I think I just have normal taps

          • @WatchNerd: Ah I see, thankyou

            • +1

@wonderboy4: Even if you don't, just means you have to turn off you mains water.

Brasshards loose nut 15mm a good option to make it easy.

              • @neo: @neo Thankyou for this!

I found one online at Bunnings and people are singing it's praises in the reviews. So if I don't have an isolation tap under the kitchen sink (which I don't think I do) then I can just turn the mains off, install the mixer taps and also install this under the kitchen sink while I'm at it, for future ease of use.

                Do I have this correct?

                • @wonderboy4: Spot on.

Put the isolation taps, connect the mixer hoses and you're golden.

                  • +1

                    @neo: @neo Thankyou πŸ‘ πŸ†

                    • @wonderboy4: Also, in case your mains doesn't fully close (sometimes it still lets a little through) just open up another tap that is lower like a bath tub etc. and that should minimise any leaks. That also provides a peace of mind check that you won't end up flooding the place either haha.

                      • +1

@neo: @neo Thanks for the great tip, I will be sure to do this, as anything to minimize potential disaster is well worth it, in my opinion! πŸ˜…πŸ‘

Thanks again for all your advice, I really appreciate it πŸ˜ƒ 🍻

  • Aldi paint is rubbish btw. It's like water. I ended up going to Bunnings and buying a can of Dulux to paint over it. Never again.

    • Came here looking for ALDI paint feedback, thank you.

      • Looking at the picture it appears to be made by Wattyl. Don't forget you can return within 60 days if you're not happy.

        • That may be a bit difficult.

I bought the airless paint sprayer to paint two shipping containers. I did the first and the second but the sprayer stopped before I could do the small wall on the back and did both inside outside in less than an hour. Used 15L Solar Guard on the outside and 15l on the inside. I didn't do the outside of the roof.

Took the sprayer back and got a refund

  • Waiting for bunnings price beat options

    • Did you find a mixer tap price beat yet?

    anyone used the ceiling paint?

    • Yep, it's okay. I used it in my garage and a spare room. Coverage is fine. Needed 2 coats over a spot I'd used an off white undercoat.

Anyone care to comment on the "beverage chiller" for $299 I think it was - Im sure it looks like a similar model to the last time they had one of these sales. Seeing if anyone had purchased it previously.
Keen to see if I can use it in my outdoor kitchen / undercover alfresco area
