    Hi TechFast,

Can all the parts be shipped unopened from their boxes? I'd like the experience of building it up myself:) Please let me know, cheers!

    • +1

Make sure you ground yourself to reduce static

      • +6

This has always been a really overblown risk that never, ever warrants concern in practice.

I must have opened up, worked on or built hundreds and hundreds of PCs, laptops and servers of all kinds in my career thus far.
I've never, EVER seen a device that was bricked, damaged or otherwise affected in some way due to human-generated static discharge nor have I ever really heard of it happening from a reliable source. I've also never used an ESD anti-static wrist strap/band and no one I know of in the IT industry does.

Maybe if you're working in a room full of inflated plastic balloons while wearing a synthetic tracksuit and rubbing your socks against a thick pile carpet, then you might need an ESD strap but otherwise you'll be fine. Modern ICs/PCBs are far more resilient to ESD and physical shock/vibration than most people give them credit for.

        • tbh during someday even getting out of my car touching door nobs can shock me badly. I dont live off building PCs, but surely I am lucky that no PCs parts was ever touched during those days.

          • @Hornpub:

tbh during someday even getting out of my car touching door nobs can shock me badly.

That's probably more do with you and your car and the materials/environmental conditions involved.

In any case, a car and a PC are quite different from a physics perspective and used in entirely different contexts, so I'm not sure what relevance your anecdote has to the mythical problem of ESD causing issues with PCs. It's like saying you got hit by lightning once so therefore you definitely need to be electrically grounded while working on a PC.

        • The issue is that you likely have, you’ve just never conflated it with static discharge. The difference with static vs other damage is that it’s completely unpredictable. You could have something fail after 2 years instead of 4 and you’d never chalk it up to static anyway

      • "Make sure you ground yourself to reduce static" NO

I've never done this in over 25 years.. I've even built PC's on carpet with socks on that generate lots of static.. :) The bigest risk when building PC's is poor QTY faulty parts out of the box or incompatible ram driving you insane with failed boots :) some type of motherboard led indicators are very helpful when this happens.. also.. LOVE Bios flashback

      • You can just ground yourself by touching the metal frame of the case every so often. It's better practice that way and dont need to wear a static band.

  • luke is THE guy

  • With the 4060 could I play 1440p low settings on warzone? Also would anyone recommend any upgrades on ram or psu?

    • Interested to know as well

    • Don't buy into the crowd that says you have to spend huge. You can get 1440 res out of a 4060 with decent settings as long as you dont expect to max out 144hz monitor.

Should be able to play 1440p low setting on warzone, the avg benchmark is 69.6 fps in 1440p high/ultra setting (Sadly, no warzone). Given you are fine with low settings and i don't think Warzone is top demanding games.
I didn't finish the video below, it's Warzone benchmark with 5800x3d/4060 (higher fps than this 12400f). You should've check it, as performance won't be far before your CPU is bottlenecked (could happen if you play at low settings, but not sure). 14:22 1440p medium setting.

  • Bought thanks bro

  • When will someone make a bundle that allows pci-e wifi card?

    • +2

M.2 key e card is actually smaller and come with Bluetooth: https://www.umart.com.au/product/intel-wi-fi-6-ax200-m-2-223…

      • +1

@s20525xxx So, this card can be used for wifi and BT in the 12400F PC? I am planning to buy it and want to confirm it is suitable. Thanks

        • yes, just buy an additional m2 wifi card plug it onto the motherboard, and connect the antenna on the ITX case, that is what I will be doing. Bought one fo the $799 deal and waiting now

          • @Yuhan: where to get the antenna from ? that umart link is just the chip yeah ?

          • @Yuhan: How hard is it to install this on? Does it involve in removing the gpu for example?

      • Ahh didnt realize they were that cheap. Thanks!

      • Save the M.2 for M.2 drives.
Get a mesh network setup at home, then get a cheap $100 mesh router in your room next to your PC, and plug network cable from the router to your PC.

        • @congo m.2 drive is an e type and is different to what you are talking about.

It doesn’t occupy one of the traditional m.2 slots. It actually sits behind the I/O shield.

          • @nutz: OK thanks, did some reading, the M.2 Type E is for the Wifi+BT device, and not for storage (even though it can be used for storage, it wouldn't be as efficient since it is PCIe x2).

  • A newbie question here, would this PC be ready to go straight from the box? as in do I have to set up windows, etc..

    • +1

They're ready to go out of the box with Linux. If you want to use windows you'll have to install it yourself - not a difficult task, see above comments

    • Ya, windows installed and tested

    • There's an option to add windows for $169 if you don't want Linux or the hassle of installing windows yourself.

  • Would the ITX be suitable to upgrade to a 4070 later down the line?

    • YES.. as the standard 4070 uses only 200w… just need to make sure it will fit in that case.

  • does it come with hdmi port?

    • All current card should come with HDMI port

  • What is the max height of a cpu tower cooler this case supports? And from the photo, it seems the case has a USB 3.2 gen 2 usb-c port on the front panel, right?

    • That’s oos

      • The $799 build one - INTEL CORE I5 12400F | RTX 3060 12GB

    • I would say this one is better. You got double the SSD and DDR5.And, the ITX formfactor is obviously smaller :)

  • anyone use itx before, will it be super loud?

    • Yes and no. Depends on what you put inside and the case.

      • how about the package above?

        • You can ask the Rep (if they willing to) to measure the noise level.
I avoid ITX for gaming. The air flow not good.

        • This PC doesn't need much airflow. The 4060 is very efficient and maximum power is at about 115 W - probably wont hear the GPU. Someone else may be able to comment on the stock intel fan noise and case fan noise.

There is no option to upgrade the CPU fan to a tower air cooler so I guess it wont fit in the case. You can upgrade to a water cooler but from my experience they are more noisy than a stock cooler with the water pump noise and high pressure fan pushing through the radiator. They will keep CPU temps lower though

  • Just bought, thanks Luke and team - a good package !

  • My finger is hovering over the button for the 4060 machine, but I have no experience with smaller cases and it appears only techfast use this case - will I able to upgrade to a bigger GPU down the line, like a 3080 or 4080? I.e. will there be enough space? And is there room to put a 3.5inch HDD, or is it limited to sdd? Also, the mobo is called a m-atx on the product page, but also ITX? Sorry a bit confused. Thanks

  • What’s the dimensions on the 800$ job?

    • Standing just 30cm tall, 39cm deep and 26.5cm wide, the Leaper Edge is an aluminium ITX case that ships with two side panels for the case's right side - aerated for maxium airflow, or tempered glass.

      • VERY VERY tempting

  • will the ITX one be noisier than mATX?

  • +5

    Hey everyone.

Just wanted to share my experience here with @luketechfast.

I ordered the Ryzen 4090 deal about a week ago with , and knew the dispatch time was 5 - 10 business days. It is written in big letters in the page you land on when you click the link. A couple of days after I did that, I decided I wanted a couple of things upgraded, and it was simply a matter of me emailing tech fast (or Luke), and they got back to me.

They then posted the March deal which had some components a bit different, so I contacted them again and asked a few questions. Luke got back to me within the hour, answered my questions and also pointed out misperception I had with one of the components. He then suggested a couple of options, and also listened to what I suggested.

I couldn’t be happier with either the support I have been given, or the outcome I will get. And it is not about the money, it is about getting a computer that will perform the functions I want. If I hadn’t communicated with him, I probably would have been annoyed at myself.

All this was done without posting stuff here and via emails and PMs.

I can’t recommend Luke and his team highly enough.

Just my experience and my 2 cents worth.

  • Nutz,

You talk about good comms but I have had the opposite experience.

I put in an order on the 9th of Feb (Friday). I followed it up a few days later and got a reply letting me know about the 5-10 business wait. Perfect.

On day 10 (23rd Feb ) I asked for an update as I saw my progress hadn’t moved from order recieved and I also asked about swapping the gps to a 4080 super and what that would cost with no response as it had t progressed to build.

On the 27th (day 12) politely asking for a response to my message and un update on my build.

It’s currently day 14 (29th of Feb) with still no update to my build status and no response to my email

    • Happy to look into it for you - can you send me a PM or give me a way to identify your order here?

    • Did you pm Luke directly? Are you aware that they have had sickness there?

I can only write about my experience. Often I have seen people come on this forum and bag techfast out about delivery times, where it is quite plainly written about the delivery times.

I pm’d Luke a couple of times before I pulled the trigger on the build I ordered with other questions, and he got back to me within a couple of hours.

They have not been more accommodating with my requests and the communication has thus far been excellent.

I see other people (not you) asking for updates publicly, which is why I wrote what I did.

Even yesterday, on a normal email when I asked about the expected build time, the answer was forthcoming - this week and I should have it next week.

I am sorry to hear your experience has been different to mine, but I would be very surprised if you do not hear from Luke soon.

Sometimes emails do get lost. It is just the way things are.

      • Replying to my own message here.

I see Luke is already onto it….

  • Bought the last deal. Been trying to contact techfast for a week with no reply. I’ve paid, some of the order. Price was wrong in original ad. And I’ve had no updates.

  • Anyone have experience buying from these guys?
Like to know how their shipping/packaging is and how return and warranty is handled

    • i bought a 4070 deal 1 year ago.
GPU was running hot in Dec so techfast paid postage back, they repasted the gpu and sent it back within a week.
Nothing but good service from the team.

      • Never knew gpu's needed to be repasted. It comes already pasted from the manufacturer right?

        • -1

like car oil. it breaks/down dries up

  • What x670 motherboard is been used?

    • Bearing in mind, I do not represent techfast, this is a link that Luke gave to me in the PMs we had.

He said ‘this is the current motherboard we have on hand’, so it could change with their stock levels. That was a day ago.

      https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-X670-P-WIFI

      • thanks, though it would be that since they mostly do MSI and it had WiFi.
do u know what brand RAM, Cool and PSU you got.

        • No - don’t know the standard 240mm AIO as I ordered the 360 MSI AIO cooler. I’m not concerned about the PSU as it was a gold +, and the RAM was only 5200 anyway, with no upgrade path to something faster. Most RAM will be fine. I may try to overclock, but if I was serious, I’d replace the RAM anyway.

Of note with this build, was that the February deal had a different case - this new deal has the Antec P20. Better case, and previously was an additional cost. Downside with the standard motherboard was no usb type c header for the front panel, however there is an additional USB header you could put an adapter on if it was a problem. Not an issue with the X670.

Both the 650 and 670 have a m2 type e slot for wifi, you can purchase them separately, although Luke is now supplying these builds with either the type or a dongle. The x670 will have the card.

I wrote it somewhere else, but for the price of a CPU, RAM and GPU alone you are getting a compete build, which is why I went down this path. Heck, you could even throw out the original motherboard and buy a more specced one and still be ahead.

          Cheers.

@luketechfast any chance the ITX i5-12400F RTX 4060 deal can be done without the Gpu? I have a 3x fan 3060 just sitting unused.

    • No sorry mate, complete builds only

  • How would the i5-12400F, RTX 4060 PC handle something like Helldivers 2 at… I don't know… max settings?

    Recommended is i7-9700K, RTX 2060.

  • @luketechfast Whats the psu brand for the itx build? Is it loud

    • define loud.. just get the upgraded one to be safe

  • @luketechfast
How are your products shipped? Is it possible to request the graphics card is not shipped in the system? I wouldn't even mind if all the parts were shipped unassembled.

    • Hi mate,

We ship via auspost in the cases box, with packaging around the interior of the PC. You can opt for GPU separate via the checkout.

  • How long is the ITX deal available for Luke?

    • Tried adding to cart but it's sold out.

      • Ah bugger, ah well. Wait for the next one I guess

    • Yep, this one just sold out sorry guys

  • Hi Techfast,

I ordered the ITX deal Thursday night, any update on the order status and estimate on when it will get delivered (NSW)?

    Thanks!

    • We're finishing off the Feb higher tier orders this week so I'd expect these to be going out from next week onwards.

  • Hey Luke I placed my order on the 2nd of March and I still haven't heard back from anyone regarding when my PC will be shipped.

    • We're working through orders every day. Hard to say exactly where without knowing which PC you ordered but the ITX builds from this deal for example are scheduled for production this week - a lot were ordered in a short space of time so that's a focus this week.

  • Hi @luketechfast sent you a pm enquiry

    • Replied thanks

  • Hey @luketechfast - Seems like my PC is DOA (GPU and CPU barely functioning at all together) and sitting at the desktop (doing nothing) is causing crazy increases in Utilisation for both.

I’ve sent through an email to try and get some movement or troubleshooting, but am yet to have a response from the team.

I got the Intel Core i5-12400F PC.
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks, Mark

    • Hey Mark, happy to escalate but need an order number or email address to track it

      • Hey Luke,

        Pm’d with the info.

        Thanks!

  • Hey Luke I just received my 4080 Super 7800 X3D computer today after a long 5 week wait just to find out that it won't boot correctly and continually tells me Windows won't load correctly. It will make it a little way then reboot. Just constantly reboots itself and is slow to load up. I have a sent an email and a message to your ozbargain's inbox. Need to get this fixed ASAP.
    @luketechfast

    • bro, this aint the thread for the 4080 deal. why spam all the techFast threads with the same message ?

  • placed the order for the 799 itx deal first day when this deal was posted, until today 19/3. it has still not been posted yet, i dont think i will be getting the PC even within a month, quite frustrated.

    • The final batch (purchased last before it sold out) are in build today so will be shipped tomorrow - given yours was day 1 it should already be done. Saw your PM - will check now.

      • I ordered minutes after the ITX deal went live. Still no notification that it is ready

  • Hi @luketechfast sent you a pm

  • when dispatch for order on 01/03

    @luketechfast

    • Tomorrow or Friday - all ITX will be completed this week. We ran into a bit of an issue with incompatible Team RAM on the Biostar board when we ran out of Kingston, but more Kingston is arriving to complete all the orders.

      • thanks for update

  • My ITX build arrived faulty. Have emailed service so let's see what happens now.

    • Happy to escalate if you need assistance - PM me with details if you need

  • +3

My 4060 build is constantly stuttering, crashing and switching off, any ideas

    • Same but techfast replied to me to do the following below and it fixes it:

To resolve this issue, you will need to enter the BIOS and enable PCIE gen 3.

To boot into the BIOS you will need to repeatedly press the "Del" key upon booting the system.
Once you are in the BIOS please follow the steps below.

On the chipset page > highlight system agent (sa) configuration > enter > pcie speed > enter > choose gen 3 > f10 to save and exit

      • @AronVL I can confirm this is correct and will resolve the stuttering

    • +1

I suppose the reason is that the default PCIE setting in this BIOS is PCIE gen 4/5, while the GPU riser cable of this ITX case is PCIE gen 3. not compatiable. It is expected that Techfast makes this BIOS setting before shipping. Actually, this setting must be done every time BIOS is reset to default, otherwise buying a PCIE gen 4 riser instead.

  • +1

Its a pretty disappointing that its a pcie 4 card and board but the riser cable is pcie3.. Not able to get get full performance from the machine. Atleast it should have been listed.

    • The riser cable is part of the Case - this is a common scenario.
The performance difference between the two is tiny - but if you really want to run PCIe4 then you can replace the cable yourself.
