"…Jetset and other members of the Jetset Travelworld Group (Travelworld, Harvey World Travel and Best Flights) requires you to waive your chargeback rights in its booking terms and conditions."

    lol that's dodgy

    • Is that even legal?

      • I suppose it's legal cause they tell you in the T&Cs just like how TPG asks you to waive your Customer Service Guarantee Rights.

        • I suspect that VISA/MC/AMEX have their own clauses that disallow this sort of T&C from being enforced. They really are pricks, hiding it away. Even if they take it off, I would never deal with them because who knows what else they are hiding or trying to hide.

        • I would imagine that T&C's can't abrogate your statutory rights to recompense either as a consumer of the travel agency; or as voteoften said, superseding the T&C's of the issuing CC company or under the credit act.

Either way, I'm glad that I know about it now, coz I won't deal with them either…and I'll sure as hell read the fine print before I sign with any other travel agent or booking company again too!

  • The awards are a bit all over the place. The Jetset chargeback policy is dodgy but the Toblerone and Cabcharge are just silly. I mean 10% is a lot but how else would they make money. 1 less chocolate piece? lol

yeah ticketmaster and ticketek really get to me with all their extra charges and if go to the event just to buy it there to bypass those charges, you're more likely wrong since the prices are jacked up to cover those extra charges anyways :P

To a lesser extent, Event, Hoyts are annoying to deal with online with their 'booking fees' because you think booking online would take away the hassle and keep costs down. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have to go to the front desk when I arrive to pick up a ticket - going to the cinemas when you're not a student is expensive enough as it is. those 10/11 dollar tickets from "promos" are more like 15+ if you're movie isn't playing in a basic setup.

  • It's funny, I just came across this post - and then on the other day Liquipel comes along on my Youtube as an ad.
In other news - this is pretty cool :)
Neverwet, don't have to clean your shoes again!

Jetset is offensive, but I think that the Nature’s Way Kids Smart Natural Medicines are more dangerous.

I see these moronic mums at my daughters school who want to lecture other mums about only feeding organic food to children, but drink alcohol like a fish when they are pregnant. AND who refuse to go to a circus if said circus has animals, yet they have dressage nags that they beat and spur and ship around the world, as well as numerous domestic pets who know tricks and who have kidnapped wild hermit crabs to have as pets.

So, I pretty much despise the whole nature only brigade because there is so much that doesn't apply to them, but they shouldn't be misled when they dose up their kids.

Another logical disparity is with these people who believe in "only eating local". I met some "only eat local" Yanks who had jetted across to the Yarra valley and who were loading up on Yarra Valley Olives to bring home on an aeroplane. They were then going to Margaret River to eat more and drink more. Hypocrites! I am tired of being lectured to.

If anyone deserves to be disadvantaged because of their silly beliefs that they impose on others, it is these greenies, but their kids shouldn't be made to suffer because of their parents' retardedness Those Nature’s Way Kids Smart Natural Medicines should be taken off the market if they are misleading users.

  • And here is an example of where Jetset would love to totally screw you over with disallowing chargebacks. A cruiseline with cheap cruises out of Oz has hit financial difficulty and the is being held in Europe. Jetset would have you wear it apparently.

  • Toblerone

16 serves but only 15 pieces.

    wow

does anyone even look at 'serves' and 'serving sizes' on packaging? especially on chocs?!!

      • What if you have 16 friends and want to give them all a Toblerone? You'd expect the packet to come with enough if it says 16 serves.

If you wanted a serve yourself, then you'd now be two pieces short…

        • it's madness!

a candidate for next year's shonkys? flight centre http://www.couriermail.com.au/travel/qcat-finds-flight-centr…

    • I read through the entire thing, thinking I can't believe it but then towards the bottom of the article:

"The evidence from Flight Centre is that at the time it produced its quote, the quote given to Mrs Banjac on the internet from lastminute.com had lapsed and those seats in that class on those dates was not available.''

Assuming FC are telling the truth then there is nothing to be matched. Same deal with Jetstar. If you call up for a price match, they will go onto Tiger's website and confirm the price of their competitors flight.

That said, I've rarely heard a price match and never heard of FC ever giving someone a free flight.

Mr Oliver, in refusing Banjac leave to appeal the earlier ruling, said Banjac's "fundamental problem'' was that he "did not enter into any contract with Flight Centre.''

"Therefore there was no contractual obligation for (Flight Centre) to honour the guarantee,'' he said.

So what really needs to happen is for him to bring his case to the advertising board. Legally speaking, there appears to be nothing wrong but from an advertising perspective there are issues.
