  • How would the C745 go with showing sport?

TCL aren’t great for motion handling. I recommend looking at one in store if you’re sensitive to this.

Thank goodness TVs with centre stands are coming back into style. Legs on the end is the stupidest design and required unnecessarily long TV units.

A TV unit shorter than the TV is weird bro.

  • This or Samsung Q70C or CU8000 (both Samsung options ~100-150 more)?

  • How do you get the S54 for $284.40? With the 10% sitewide discount and the 2% voucher I get $348.39.

  • I dont know about the larger TCL's but we bought a 32 full HD for the bedroom 6.months ago. It can barely run the google os. Lags, freezes etc.

We bought a $30 google tv and it runs smooth. Odd that a dongle powered by usb can run the os better than a $300 tv….avoid TCL imo

Any cheap TV like in this deal is going to have a slow Android OS and is easily solved as you say by something like a chromecast for cheap. If you want a snappy OS you've got to buy a higher end TV and there's nothing wrong with TCL at this level. The C series is a good example.

      • I know what your saying, i have a nice Sony for the main tv.

But i find it odd that a google TV 12v usb powered dongle for $30, out performs a 240v $300 tv (yes, i understand power draw etc).

What makes it worse, is the google TV gives me the exact same interface options and UI as the TCL. How bad can the chip be in the tcl?

        • I think it's more that a $300 TV has to cheap out somewhere and the processor is one of those things. I have 3 TV's, one dumb TV with a 4K Google TV dongle, one TCL P50 budget TV and a Sony Bravia Android TV. The Sony's Android OS runs way better than the TCL's but I just accept that the TCL cost me a great deal less and for the most part it does the job.

  • We've had the C745 75" three months .. we're satisfied with the picture quality however the GUI is heavily pay TV centric, atrocious and their attempt at PIP (they call it multivision) is bug riddled and almost unusable. I'd probably go back to Samsung given the opportunity (our Samsung Plasma 65" died after 15 years .. RIP!!)

Why don't you just buy a chromecast?
