Looks like pickup isn't available, greyed out when trying to select click and collect

    • +1

works for me. If you mean greyed out in the cart page for pressing "continue to checkout" have you selected a store?

      • +3

Ahh sorry, the indigo blue is saying it's a "customer direct" item, the midnight blue can be C&Ced

  • +2

Indigo blue - The Customer Direct range is not available in store.

    Midnight blue - C&C

    JB will price match

  • +3

    OW come on!

    • Hahaha omg of course… Even better

    • +1

      is OW price beating?

  • Will this run any heavy games?

    • Run? Maybe. Will it be a pleasant experience? Likely not.

    • +1

It stutters a bit while running Shop Titans while my old Poco X3 Pro runs the same game smoothly like butter. Maybe that will give you a good reference?

    • My kids play minecraft on their G54s we just got this year for about $460 for two, this phone runs it better and more consistently smoothly than my $749 Pixel 7.

    • Depends on the games that you'll play but aim for phones that have Snapdragons CPUs with Adreno GPUs as they are the most supported and games run better on them.

    • +10

did you just call Harvey Norman the No.1 deal maker? That's a very anti OzBargain thing to say. 😂

        • +32

No, you did not stutter Gerry.

    • +1

Calm down, Gerry's not going to F you.

      • +2

But he already has by the shenanigans he pulled.

    • No.1 deal maker

I prefer to bend over and ask for a JB deal

  • +1

How "average" is the average camera on these? Coming from a poco X3.

    • +3

Probably worse than your Poco X3

    • Camera's pretty good under strong lighting but struggles in dim conditions (as to all cameras to some degree). However, it does offer a "pro" mode where you can manually adjust camera settings such as ISO, Shutter Speed and White Balance and save the photos in RAW format.

Overall, I don't see that much difference from my Poco X3 Pro. However, note that I only use these phone cameras for casual snaps. For more serious photography, I break out my old DSLRs so I rarely push these phone cameras to their extremes.

    • $200 - 5G 8/128GB eSIM anything else is a Bonus

Not an Android vs iPhone debate but if the budget is low and need a reliable phone with most features and new battery you can not go wrong
6 year old 4G iPhone XR is sold for the same price at Market place

  • +3

Is this an upgrade from a Redmi Note 9 Pro?
Miss the chopping action for the flash light and the twisting of the wrist to turn on the camera function that's synonymous with Motorola.

    • +7

Should be somewhat of a speed boost.

I said this before and i will say it again. Not afraid to say it over and over.

That karate chop action to open the camera flash should be baked into android.

Same for the twist action to open camera app.

That karate chop action to open the camera flash should be baked into android.

Same for the twist action to open camera app.

This is why I can't get away from Motorola.

Just waiting for a new deal on the G84 at JB.

    • +1

      Yes.

I upgraded to this from a Note 9S, which is the same as the Pro. The G54 is noticeably better for the way I use it.

      • Does it support Chinese language?
        Asking for a friend.

        • Yes, you can change the system language to either Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese.

  • +3

Such a bloody bargain. I got one for 224 a few days ago for the wife-bot but i dont really need one for myself, still rocking my crappy Redmi 10C for another couple years i think. Bloody bargain for anyone needing a phone tho.

    • +3

still rocking my crappy Redmi 10C

Replace it. You know you wanna. Just not from Gerry. He can get stuffed. Get OW to pricebeat. Heck get jbhifi to pricematch.

  • +1

How would this deal make the Officeworks manager 'cry'? and does Officeworks open that early - (7am?_)

    • +1

How would this deal make the Officeworks manager 'cry'?

Pricebeat mean less profit for them.

does Officeworks open that early - (7am?_)

      Yes they do.

  • will Amazon match ??

    • +2

Ask the baldman and find out. Worse they can say is no.

  • one day i will be able to upgrade my oppo ace 2 eva edition

  • +1

As much as i hate gerry harvey $26 bucks is $26 bucks

    • +7

Or you can get OW to pricebeat or get jbhifi to pricematch.

      • +1

Do it at JB hifi they do price matching better than Ow

        • +3

But JB Hifi only price match whereas OW price beat by 5%.

          • @KRRacing: Yeah but how many reasons and excuses they gonna have to not accept your price match and usually they matched it already so you cannot get that price beat

You can just offset using giftcard but you could also with Ow. YMMV

  • This or G14 (that can come to ~$150)?
Need for a kid who smashes the screen every now and then

    • +2

this is much better. Get several packs of tempered glass and tell the kid to be more careful.

    • +3

Buy the phone and a pool noodle. You know those long foam thing

Cut a piece long enough to wrap around the side of it.

Then cut a slit so the phone is snug into the slit.

Hot glue so it stays around the phone.

Then using a scalpel cut out pieces so one can still use the phone but it wont fall out.

    • I missed out on g14 also. Not sure if that will come down again.

    • Buy the kid a dumbphone. Teach them the value of looking after their belongings. Don't reward them with an upgrade or else they'll start breaking them on purpose.

      • +1

nah, that doesn't work. My friend's daughter threw (unintentionally) her phone into the toilet 3 times :D

      • That was a bit like my old job, when a new iphone came out all of a sudden peoples phones started breaking.

  • +1

That CPU how is it compare to Snapdragon and Kirin??

    • +2

They are comparing it to a snapdragon 695 and kirin 980.

Though the mediatek 7020 nudges ahead slightly i still prefer snapdragon as the difference is only minimal.

      • I can’t recall what phones use those CPUs any examples? but for this price is quite unbeatable

        • The g82 has a 695. Huawei p30 pro has kirin 980. Just as an example.

    • Using whilst getting pixel 6 fixed. Can't even tell the difference . Well except pixel 6 is hotter..

      • So basically in a nutshell a pixel 6 performance but with Motorola skin and better hardware

    • 7020=dimensity 930. You can compare here https://www.socpk.com/cpucurve/ . Use 920 as it's the closest. Has a better cpu curve until 3w, then gets beaten by snapdragon 865. Gpu wise, horrendous. Has the same power curve as the 855 but extremely gimped low power, 2W vs 5w https://www.socpk.com/gpucurve/ But for the price I guess it's ok?

  • Waiting for a model with Snapdragon 6 gen 2

  • Had to cancel g84 with TGG after waiting 3 weeks for pending delivery….

  • -3

    it's no G84 though :(

  • Time to upgrade the Pixel 2 XL (again)

    • +1

Still rocking my Pixel 2 XL 💪

      • +1

I wasn't going to upgrade it until it died but for the price this phone is definitely a steal and the SD slot and 3.5mm jack is something worth supporting

  • +1

Just about to jump out to OW to get them price beat before they close. Checked online and they are out of stock :(

$188 would be a ripper deal

    • +1

There's more stock of Midnight Blue compared to Indigo Blue.

      • Sadly all my locals are OOS. Might try my luck price matching in store at TGG tomorrow then use this for another $30 off.

  • +1

Hmm, bought in the good guys sale last week @ $250 but $40 shopback cashback. Claiming price protection on this would make the total $158. Wonder how much further this will drop on the next year

    • Does it support Chinese language?
      Asking for a friend.

  • +3

Can confirm this is a good phone for everyday use however there is a bit to be desired from the camera quality.

  • Gcam for camera possible?

  • Bha why they do this just after me buying the one on amazon for $224….

Officeworks Penrith did a price beat this morning. It looks like there are three left of the midnight blue, not sure about the Indigo blue

    • Online, or do you need to go in-store?

Trying to use my Coles Gift Card from yesterday.

          Does it support Chinese language?
          Asking for a friend.

  • +1

Solid phone and especially good value at $198

Only disadvantage is lack of dual physical sim support

    • +1

      And the IPS screen

    • Why is a second physical SIM preferable to multiple extra eSIMs?

      • I use Aldimobile :)

  • +1

Just sashed my screen on my $199 G825G. I was quoted $199 for a replacement OLED screen.

Would i just be better picking this up?

    • +2

      Do itz.

    • I have a G82 and a G54. In my opinion, the G54 is as good as the G82 in just about every way.

Being IPS, the screen isn't quite as good. The brightness is about the same on axis but brightness, contrast and black levels drop a bit off axis and it has a slightly cooler hue no matter what the setting.I have both set at natural with the colour temperature at the middle setting. I don't find it an issue in everyday use, but my eyes are old and worn out, lol.

Couple of other differences, the G54 has e-sim, OTG and reverse charging if any of that is important to you.

Ultimately, I would be happy with either. And am happy with both of them.

  • I’ve got the latest iPhone SE but desperately want back into the android ecosystem—would it be crazy to trade the iPhone and pick this up?

    • Insert just do it meme here.

  • Price beat at OW. Super easy via phone.
