I bought this for $39 in 2018. Camels said this dropped $24 today. With vinyl prices rising, this is a decent price, cheaper than ebay and other sellers. Sure, the price might drop, but this is a good price for a classic LP.

classic rekkid but if this is a bargain these days I think I made a smart financial decision to stop buying vinyl over a decade ago

    • Depends on how you look at it. You probably could have doubled your money if you kept them sealed and stored properly!

      • +3

That’s true, but I bought records to listen to them :-)

        • They increase just as much in value if they're opened. In fact some people don't like buying sealed on Discogs as there can be pressing flaws, especially with colour vinyl.

      • "kept them sealed"

        Nice one lol.

Got some for $6 from Amazon in 2018. Loved their vinyl pricing (mistakes) when they started here! Got to see them in London (Brixton Academy from memory)… great gig.

got this on CD back in the day, a foundational album - just so good. No bad tracks on this one.

Just not enough of a neckbeard for vinyl

Agree that would love for them to come back out. Same goes for daft punk…

    • Neckbeard? Do you mean hipster toolbag??

  • If only I still had a record player …..

My afternoon listening is set. Thanks for reminding me of this album.

  • Paying $30 for cds in the late 80s and 90s still pisses me off. How you lot pay ridiculous prices for LPs is a total mystery to me. Yeah yeah I get the smell , the big cover in your hands, the sound quality but come on for most of us with wireless buds and portable Bluetooth speakers . etc etc .. it's beyond me but hey, enjoy peeps, they are a great band! The thing is I listen to dozens and dozens of great bands every week so if I had the pay $63 per album… well , you get the drift! 😁

20-30$ was the norm for CDs, I bought my fair share of them (hundreds). Good having your own collection at full quality. Spotify and YouTube music still don't sound as good.

Anyway depends on your equipment and how much you care about sound quality. Tidal and lossless wasn't really around at the time.

CD is still the best format, but I get that people love the nostalgia and cool factor of vinyl (and the pops and crackles). I agree that they shouldn't cost more than CDs, but they aren't exactly in every store or that easy to get

      • "CD is still the best format"

When online music came along in the form of steaming and even before the streaming platforms like Tidal, Spotify etc, when people started uploading stuff to youtube, I always felt like digital streaming was the same, albeit the quality of the youtube upload which made CD's irrelevant for me.

Sure if you want the crystal case and the 5"x5" booklet, but lets not forget the nostalgia value of CD's which came out in Australia in the 80's as well.

I know CD's are a more convenient format but now things like Apple Music do HI-Res lossless and Dolby Atmos, which when you plug an AppleTV into a receiver that can decode the lossless it's a nice thing.
I will state though that a CD will still work when your internet goes down before all the "physical format" lovers come at me with that. But then again if you've ripped all your CD's to your library and synced them to your device, it won't matter if the internet goes down then either👍🏻.

I'd better stop now, this blog of mine is getting out of hand…..

"How you lot pay ridiculous prices for LPs is a total mystery to me."

Let me explode the mystery for you. When something is reissued or repressed, sometimes, just sometimes, whoever is doing the job does a really good job of it. What's that, you'd like that reissue across two 12" records with a third 10" record with two unreleased tracks from that album that has only been pressed on vinyl ONCE, when it was originally released in 1996? You'd like those records to be transparent for sh#*s and giggles or would you like traditional black vinyl? Or if you're a real hipster trust fund kiddie, you can try for the orange edition of 500 for full price from the U.K!?!? You'd like a 12"x12" 16 page booklet with photos and linear notes from the artist talking about the equipment he built and used to create the music? Did I also mention it's the 25th anniversary of that album?

That album in particular is available right now from Amazon for $46.70, I know for you guys with your wireless buds and bluetooth speakers this would be hard to understand, but for some of us that enjoy music in all formats, because y'know….we like music, this is a nice purchase of something that we have enjoyed for the last 25 years, not to mention it hasn't been available on vinyl since it's release.

Thanks for reading my blog lol.
