LONGSTORY

Been asked for a white deal a couple of times recently, so posted this for the white win elovers out there!

Wine writer, Ken Gargett: "Put simply, the world can never have too much easy drinking, good value Chardy. A fresh, unoaked style can’t help but please. Bright yellow in colour, notes of herbs, citrus and stonefruit, with the flavours very much upfront. There is a burst of bright acidity and hints of white peaches on the palate, a pleasant picnic style, but it needs a touch more length to step up to the next level. Drink over the next two to three years."

Nose: The nose offers elegant aromas of lime, lemon and stone fruit.

Palate: The palate is smooth and refined with notes of citrus, peach and rock melon, followed by a lingering, refreshing finish.

Cellaring: Drink now 2025

  • Thanks Richard, just bought a CTN. I have some family coming over next week from interstate. Should keep some of them happy. Show off some good local wine.

    • @omblygombly Ah nicely. Nicely chilled glass of chardy, warm day. Happy days. Enjoy and thank you. Richard :-)

  • Spandau Ballet fan RD?

    • ah ha. right era, don't mind them. :-)

  • How would you compare this to the Pertaringa Chardonnay which we love? I know this is unoaked, seems to have different citrus notes and needs to be consumed earlier compared to the Pertaringa.

    • @Wac thanks for the kind words about the Lakeside. Stylistically and qualitatively very different wines these two with Lakeside being superior. The Lakeisde has disappeared for the 2023 vintage as it is just leaving to be poured on Cathay Pacific in Business Class. This wine is unoaked and, therefore, a simpler wine. Enjoyable but just trying to set the expectation level in case you do buy. Hope that helps. Cheers! RD :-)

  • In the Ken Gargett review he mentions it to be a "bright yellow in colour" but the website pictures show it to be a near clear colour.

Are these pictures and description the same product ?

    • @sgsg they are. Whilst Ken has characterized the wine in that way it’s certainly not the same description I would have used. Cheers! RD

      • So is it a clear lighter colour usually associated with unwooded chard or more yellow as normally associated with a oaked chard.
Just that the wife turns her nose up at a yellow coloured wine no matter what the type or style, its all about her initial perception :)

        • You’re correct. In my opinion a lighter colour usually associated with unwooded wines as this one is. :-)

  • Ordered, with a 6 pack of bubbles to go with it. We like the bubbles.

    More whites please!

    • Thanks STeve! Not many whites for a couple of reasons but we'll keep eeking a few white deals out where we can. Cheers! RD :-)
