  • Thank you for calling it “bare tool” instead of a “skin”

Can this be used as a buffer/polisher?

    • I do with my, just slap on some meguiar pads. Probably not as pro as a DA but 1 4ah battery can get me 20-30min of usage.

    • Polishers make good sanders for removing large amounts of material because they have a larger orbital pattern. Not sure how it works in reverse.

    • As it only has a 2.5 mm orbit, its ideal for sanding , normal orbit for a polisher is 8mm-21mm, so although it will polish, it wont preform as good a dedicated polisher.

  • Anyone know if you can get an adapter to use a Makita battery on these Bosch tools. I do this with Ryobi tools and saves on buying multiple battery platforms.

    • I got an adapter from Aliexpress to use my Bosch batteries on a Makita worklight. You can't charge the battery though, so I assume you can do it the other way ? Makitia to Bosch

    • I believe you can find that kinda adaptor in Temu

  • Has anyone had success with any of the big box stores price matching an amazon sale where the product is the same but has a a 2 letter difference?

This has the US model for 5" vs ours which is 125mm.

    • Unlikely, local stock is usually a requirement. Some dispute for out of state/km radius too.

Almost had sucess, they were initally happy to match Amazon. Bunnings had it in stock as did amazon. Amazon had free shipping so matching price 1:1 was fine. Then we hit the nope…. This is the US model where measurements are in imperial instead of metric, model 5n vs 125. We went dow. The rabbit hole of comparing specs and they were identical. Then we found it, the Bosch SKU was off by few numbers on the BOSCH sites, Bunnings AU stock matched but not the US… as much as we tried, bunnings staff included we couldnt get management to give us the all clear. I knew at the start this would he my gotcha, never know unless you try.

TLDR; The old classic SKU is different was different. One day I'm sure they will get over the obsession.
