ALDI Has Discontinued Their Logix Platinum Dishwashing Tablets 40pk (19c Per Tablet) - What Is Alternative Now?

Hi guys, my local Aldi store rep told me they have discontinued Logix Platinum Dishwashing Tablets 40pk.

It used to be good value 19c per tablet…not the best but did decent job with our Bosch Series 6 dishwasher.

As for the discontinuation reason is unknown or at least he didn’t know. Anyone know why? Also, what are other similar options for dishwashing tablets?

Thanks.

Costco Kirkland are about the same price and work brilliantly. I used to buy the top Finish Platinum Pro before all the ridiculous price increases. Tested these and they are just as good. 115 for about $20

    • I've found these as good as anything else as well, been using them for years now.

Earth Dishwashing Tablets are my go-to. They're also recommended by Choice.

    • +1

Of all the tablets I tried this one doesn't leave stinky detergent smell. Also, I have never used any rinse aid with this tablet. Fairy tablets leave the strongest detergent smell.

    • I only found them at Coles.

I just saw a post on FB last night from someone saying she had finally go a hold of some dishwashing tablets at Aldi. They have new packaging and now in the dissolvable gel-type ”triple power” pouch (similar to Finish ones). So, I’m guessing these will be be back on the shelves at your local Aldi any time.

    • +1

Yeah they’re squishy pods now that cost a lot more… 29c a pod I think. I really hope Aldi hasn’t discontinued the platinum tablets because they work great and are so cheap.

    • Yep its a new range and slightly more expensive. I picked up some over weekend

    • The 18 in 1 tablets (not gel type, just the same as before) are back in stock now, same packaging as before.

sigh…. someone was going to post it eventualy…

      You're doing it right, @Bensonzaclucy.

    • Thanks for posting that vid, I'd never seen it before. I was always told you must rinse most of the food off dishes before going in the machine, so I never used the machine as I thought what's the point of cleaning them for the machine? its like those people that pre-clean their house before the cleaner comes.

    • I read your post in his voice!

  • I tried the Somat Duo power gel to compare to the Finish Ultimate Pro tablets after having a wee breakdown over cost of living.
It performed just as well. I still like the convenience of the pods, but the power gel is a great alternative.

  • Floor cleaner has been hard to find too for a couple of months.

And there was an Australian manufacturer of these types of products that went broke or had production issues…

    Wonder if that's a supplier?

    • But those are still 39c a tab…

    • yeah not happening at that exorbitant price.

  • I use the standard Aldi tablets in a Series 6 - works perfectly. I'm not sure the platinum ones really add anything apart from price.

    • I found a non-platinum ones wouldn’t clean avocado off things, whereas the platinum ones did no problem.

  • Finish Classic Tablets Original 110pk - $19
    https://www.rejectshop.com.au/p/finish-classic-tab-orig-110p…

Been using since 2017 with no hassles.

I’ll have to give them another try! I kinda hate finish because of their stupid plus max optimum pro infinity plus one marketing and that they price their tablets at twice the price so they can regularly go on half price sale though…

      • +1

They do an "ok" job, The Aldi ones were head and shoulders above the finish classic though. But I will probably go back to these if aldi gone.

  • The only practical difference I've seen is whether tea cups come out tannin-free. If you're not tea drinkers, pretty much any tablet or powder will be acceptable.

    • For me the standard Aldi ones don’t get rid of avocado on crockery or cutlery, the platinum ones do.

      • Did you notice a change over time? I used to use Logix Platinum but noticed a decline in performance a few years ago.

    • I drink many cups of tea every day and have never had a problem with tannin stains, no matter the tablet or powder. How long are you leaving cups between washes?

      • Daily wash but economy cycle which could be a factor?

        • +1

That's likely it. I've found the economy option on most dish washers to be false economy due to the poor results.

          • +1

@banana365: Economy is only good for stuff thats basically clean anyway, or stuff that is washed inmediately after use. Nothing thats had a chance to bake or dry onto the dishes.

      • Look up your dw manual, use the highest temperature mode. Quick wash cycle usually doesn't work very well with dishes caked stain for days.

I tried the Shine Optimum Clean Pods from Woolies last time Aldi was out of stock. The Shine washed just fine but had an overpowering chemical smell, wouldn’t buy again based on that 🤮

  • I used this powder from woolies and it always worked better than any of pods:
    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/720962/shi…

  • I buy these wollies homebrand premium tablets and they have been great for me.
    https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/184249/shi…

17 cents a tab if you buy them with your 10% off + 4% off gift cards.

    • The 100 pack is even better value (:

  • +1

Woolworths home brand tablets (Shine 10 in 1) work well. $12.80 for 100 tablets. Made in China, but for me they wash as well as the Luxembourg product.

  • Di-San laundry sanitizer powder, sensitive. 1-2 tsp in the dispenser is about enough. A small squeeze of dish detergent or dash of powder for the pre-wash helps things along.

50/50 ammonia and metho in the rinse aid dispenser.

Melbourne water here — not sure how this'd work in hard water regions.

Was at Aldi yesterday, they actually do have Logix Platinum but it's changed packaging. It used to be a in cardboard box but now it's in a big bag. Also the price has gone up, can't remember exactly but is is around 25c a capsule now.

    • +1

      It's 37 cents now

  • -2

I save money by not using any of these powders or tablets, hot water does just fine. Suckers.

    • +1

I've forgotten to add powder or a tablet to a wash more than once.

Surprisingly, all but the dirtiest plates (and greasy plastic) comes out clean.

      • That grease adds flavour to your next meal.

        • Certainly tastes great for some people.

          Also might get sick quicker

Go to your local discount store - ours (Choice Discounters) sell Finish Powerball,120pack for $17.99 = $0.15c
Confirms what most of us know…Wollies / Coles are totally gouging us.

    • Those sort of shops usually grey import the tablets don't they?

So it's not just Coles and Woolies price gouging, part of it is the multinational suppliers jacking the price up when they are distributing into Australia.

      • At least in the past, the grey imported dishwasher tablets were lower quality and less effective.

In fact overseas, a lot of items are lower quality, even simple things like chocolate has less cocoa for the same brand/type.

  • Coles brand tablets are good enough and cheap.

  • I used Finish Classic/Powerball for many years then about 2 years ago tried the Aldi Logix ones and found them just as good, so never went back.

If Aldi discontinued their tablets they might bring in something else or it may just be a different box size to replace it.

  • I was in Aldi earlier and they had their tabs for sale. I asked a staff guy and he said they'd been struggling to get stock (typical of Aldi) but they were continuing to sell them.

  • +2

Had me worried for a minute, as I use the (Logix Complete](https://www.aldi.com.au/groceries/laundry-household/househol…) ones. Been using them for years with no dramas.

    • -3

Seriously, try the standard powder from Aldi. Much cheaper for the same results.

      • have not tried personally, but had read reviews previously that while their platinum brand is top notch, their standard powder is substandard compared to most other items on the market.

    • It’s gone as well.
      Replaced by this https://ibb.co/4ZyN4xr

Given we don't have an ALDI do in Tasmania, google foo for the cheapest finish tablets - sometimes it Powerball, sometimes it's classic. Chemist warehouse has a sale on at the moment for classic https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/79075/finish-classic… for $18 for 110. So not the cheapest but pretty reasonable cost per wash.

Bunnings has a really cheap cost per wash product - reviews look positive https://www.bunnings.com.au/exonic-dishwashing-tablets-100-p…

BIG W sell a 100 pack of classic finish dishwashing tables for $26. So 26c each i thought is pretty good and they do a great job. Not that fancy powerball stuff, but still works.

  • +1

I just use the Woolies brand ones, shine I think is the name. 100pk for around $10-$12
I've used the branded ones and besides a slightly nicer smell, these clean just as well. As long as you're using rinse aid everything dries well too

  • Buy discounted Finish dishwashing powder from NQR. I once bought 13 units of the 1.5L Finish dishwashing powder bottles $2 each. Probably gonna take me a decade to finish them.

  • Buy EUCA powder. Can be bought from their website or Mitre 10.

Works great, and is concentrated so you don't have to use much. The price per load represents great value for money.

Also, check out this video that explains why powder is better than tablets.

  • No other alternative just Finish platinum when on half price or Earthchoice I guess

  • I am using an Ariston dishwasher and can see very obvious difference between using the Aldi tablet and the Finish Ultimate Pro tablet. Rating from 0-10 I will give Finish Ultimate Pro 9 and Aldi's 5

  • +1

Just use their powder but put a little in the machine as well as the dispenser

  • Finish Powder. Some in the drawer and some on the door.

  • I just purchased x3 boxes of the logix tabs and after reading this thread am thankful I did! May be time to invest before they're gone for good.

  • Been using Bunnings el-cheapo Exonic dishwasher tablets and powders - just finished the first bag of tablets and first bottle of powder. They both work well! They clean well and don't have the overpowering scents of the Finish / Fairy brands. Also very cheap.

https://www.bunnings.com.au/exonic-dishwashing-tablets-100-p… - works out to be about $0.128 per tablet

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/exonic-1kg-dish-washing-powder_p…

  • Get the ALDI 15c per tablet box. Works just as good.

    @bluespider
Fyi: After weeks missing from shelves I think I found it stocked at aldi yesterday.
Its called logix platinum dishwasher capsules, 46 pack now for $12 in a plastic container (big price increase).
It doesn't say 18-in-1 on the packet so not 100% it's the same thing.

  • +2

There's a new ALDI Logix box of dishwashing tablets, different packaging, we picked one up today. $6.29 for 45 tablets. It's 12 in 1 which seems to be in between the cheaper 10 in 1 and the platinum 18 in 1.

  • +1

Visit aldi again, they seem to have rebranded the tablets. They have two versions now, the liquid tablet version and powdered tablet version

    • And both are more expensive

    • Are they version so the 18-in-1 or the 10-in-1?

  • cheap blue and white ones from coles or wollies are ok.
Bunnings often has good prices as does Reject shop

  • +1

I too have an Bosch DW and also use the Aldi Tablets. Once when Aldi were out we had to buy some from our specialised Deli across the rd (Woolworths). Bought the Woolworths brand tablets which were reasonably priced and their homebrand tablets did a better job. Haven't continued with them because we normally fill our trolley 1st with Aldi products before we cross and get rheemed by Woolworths. The Aldi tablets do a good job, Woolies homebrand did a better job.

    • What does Woolies have to do with hot water specialists?

  • Only got the all in one per tablet lot more expensive

Capsule one 37 cents per tablet

  • +1

They are back in stock, just bought 3 packets this week.
