Best Way to Keep Track of Gift Cards

I'm sure I've seen a thread on this before, but I've searched to no avail.

I've recently hopped on the 10% off gift card train and looking for a way to keep track of everything before it gets too out of hand lol.

What's the OzB approved way of keeping track of multiple gift cards and balances? Is there an app that you would recommend?

EDIT - Android user
EDIT 2 - My wife and I both use them so it would be handy if it can sync across devices

Great choice. Google Wallet allows for the storage and payment with the major gift card providers.

        • Oh, I will have to check that out. Thanks!

Depending on how many gift cards you have, Google Wallet does have some limitations (https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12059603?hl=en#zipp…):

          • The Google Wallet app has limits for how many gift cards you can add.
          • Within 30 days, you can add up to 10 cards total and 5 cards per merchant.
          • If you have multiple gift cards for a single merchant, you can ask the merchant to combine your gift cards into one card.
          • Otherwise, to add more gift cards, you must remove an existing one. Follow the steps above to remove a gift card.

I just use google keep. You can assign different colours and tags to each individual note, and when I'm after a specific gift card I just CTRL+F to search. Then use the checkbox function to mark it as spent when I'm done.

    • I knew I'd seen a thread on it before! Don't know how I missed it.

I guess it would work if I used the family Google account, thanks!

  • Sorry to hijack this but how do others on iPhone track it ?

Use their backup android phone and remain tight lipped.

  • I use spreadsheet. Each worksheet for each business gift card, Amazon, IKEA, eBay, etc. then column for date, column for credits, column for purchases and another for balance. Each time you enter in new card you put in value of the card and it's card no and pin. If you used up the credits you mark it as used.

I just use the same worksheet multiple cards from same business. It may confusing for some, maybe worksheet separately.

I use Excel, all cards in a single worksheet in a table. Just to keep track of how much I've got and where, how much is left and when it's expiring.
