Apps for Keeping Track of Digital Giftcards

Ok, OzB seems like you guys would have a solution - do you have an app or a way to keep track of digital gift cards on your phones?

I've received a few Coles gift cards across the years and they are a particular boon to me as they cannot be used with online shopping - so when I get to the checkout I usually forget or the net stops working and I dont end up using the gift card …

Any systems or apps, ideally for free that will help out with this problem?

Needs to have the ability to put pins in with it which rules some loyalty cards apps out, Some gift cards are letters (netflix that I bought numerous in small increments so I can just activate as I want and switch between streaming services)

Thanks for any input or thoughts

Stocard is one I've been using for a while and works very well. Most giftcards are supported.

Any app you use to store these cards I would presume means you're giving them the card details, so if they get hacked then you lose all your balance FYI

I'd just stick it in a Google Spreadsheet and have that on your phone.

    • How does that work with barcodes/Images?

upload to google drive and link to the file is one solution.

I find that the barcode scanner on coles is rubbish at reading barcodes from a phone anyway and end up typing the full barcode in.

        • just a tip on the barcode scanner - from memory you can scan them at the seperate flybuys barcode scanner and that tends to work better, but yeah - definitely another area coles sucks at compared to woolies … (insert mandatory, they both suck anyway…)

I just put them in ios Notes, have a bunch of tables for each type of card (e.g. eBay, Amazon, BCF, JB HiFI, Vanilla VISA) and a field for the value left on the card, the other is the card number/code.

If the type of card rquires a PIN or CVC then I give it extra columns.

Key for me is having them on hand in a convenient way on all the places I might need them (Notes is auto synced across Mac, iPhone, and iPad), tracking the value left on the card, and being able to easily see the amounts I have left individually and in total. I don't think putting them into a loyalty card tracker like stocard would give me that visibilty.

  • There's a "Coles Cards" 3rd party unofficial app for the coles ones on Android which I've found pretty good (pulls balance for you, and turns the barcode into something that can be easily scanned at the self checkouts - find some of the coles card PDFs to be insanely hard to scan)
