I don't think I've ever posted an Irish because most of them are rubbish, but this is one of my favourite Irish whiskeys.

  • Agree Irish whiskey is dull but this is an exception. Good drop

First time in all my years that I've heard someone call Irish whiskey dull.
Granted, the availability of good Irish whiskey in Australia isn't great…but if you know what to look for you can find loads of beautiful gems out there.

      • the availability of good Irish whiskey in Australia isn't great

Yes, that's why I said most of it is rubbish.

Besides Teeling (with age statements), Green/Yellow Spot, Writer's Tears CS, and some Bushmill's, I can't think of any other widely available Irish whiskeys that are good. You really have to get IBs of Cooleys etc to get the great stuff.

I haven't tried too many Irish drams but I bought a bottle of Powers John's Lane a few months back and really enjoyed it. It crapped all over the standard Redbreast 12.

      • Yep, Powers is another good one

What's this like compared to the 15 which I already have? Trying not to buy any whisky at the moment but this is a good price .

I also like the 15, but haven't had it for years. From memory, the 15 is more refined with an oaky sherry influence. The 12CS is fresh and fruity, and has more of an American oak vibe. I think they're different enough for you to try this one.

  • Made mistake to had this on my first whisky leaning. Now hard to enjoy others….

Thanks OP, one of my favourites
Discount code UPTOWN5 brings it down to $150.09, so around $300 delivered for two bottles

    • Nice one. $150 is making me very tempted

    Bought.

So I live about 35km from closest pick-up point. My car uses about 10L/100 KMs.

    That will use about 3.5L.

    3.5L * $2.3/L of petrol (my car only takes 98) = $8.05.

    Shipping was $10, I paid the $10 (or $2 extra over click/collect).

Would you guys have done the same?

    • Yes. I only live 6kms from the city (closest JB, HN, Hype DC, Footlocker etc) and I still pay for shipping if I can't get over the free shipping threshold.

      • Yes but in true ozbargain style, what is everyone's threshold.

Sometimes if its only $2-3 dollar of fuel (so maybe 10 min of driving or less) but $15 delivery. I'll make the trip.

Did you factor in your return trip to the shop? i.e. 70km trip in total

      • Mate, I did not. What an oversight! Thank you!

        • Your ozbargainer status is hereby revoked.

  • My biggest regret is Talisker 18 when it was a deal on ozbargain. I had 2 but cancelled one. It is my favourite whisky of all time including some high end Jap ones.
