Is It Possible to Sit Together if Tickets Were Bought Separately? - Singapore Airlines

In summary, the fam bought plane tickets on same flight via separate online orders for CC Travel Insurance.

Is there a way we can all sit together (4 of us)? Can we just go to check-in station and request to sit together?

Is it unavoidable to incur fee to sit together?

TIA!

Why not just select your seats online if you have the booking reservation code?

By the sounds of things, they don't want to pay for seat selection.

First check the cabin class of the tickets you have. Higher classes let you change seats any time free of charge.

If you are on economy and if you don't want to pay for the convince of choosing adjoining seats you can wait till check-in opens 48hrs before departure and choose your seats. Considering you need 4 seats together YMMV depending on how full the flight is so I'd suggest jump in immediately after check-in opens on multiple computers or different browsers for each ticket

You can sit together at the gate if you get there early enough

Odd, I purposely sit at least 12 rows away from family when travelling.

I know people who fly on different planes!!

    • Don't you feel like a heel flying first class while the kids are back in coach

      Nahh the kids are fine

lol your comment reminded me of this in Home Alone. Don't forget to count your kids!

Can you not select your seats online?

You can go to the check in counter and ask to be seated together, BUT unless there is a block of 4 free it won't happen.

Surely you can all be ok to sit apart for the flight?

Had an expat friend who's company paid for business class flights once a year for vacation purposes.
He would book the missus and 2 kids into economy and he would fly business. (FWIW he was Scottish)

We would do the same, only on boarding we would swap legs so everyone had one in business - never had this denied by staff, but it was for the whole leg no inflight swapping.

Except once with Cathy where the staff were extremely pleasant, and even assisted with their hand luggage mid flight.

      Only part Scottish….

  • Can’t you all just go on at the same time and pick a row so you are all together? Even if you are 2 in front 2 behind etc.

You can't go on a plane and just say "I'll sit here." Seats are assigned.

      • You can if your name starts with a special 'K'…..

      • Sorry I should have been clearer. I meant you all go online at the same time and select your seat using the seat selection tool, not rock up and assign yourself a row.

When I travelled last the guy sitting next to me didn't book with me, so I'm guessing so.

Best to pre-purchase your seats. If you get to the airport and there aren't 4 unassigned seats sitting together then you are SOL. Don't bother some stranger to move on your account.
