Doesn't sound like you can do much unfortunately. RAM is maxed out and it's already on a SSD

It's a weak processor to begin with, I don't think you can do much hardware-wise

If you're desperate debloat Windows or ditch it completely?

Or look at getting a refurbed ex-corp laptop? Any of the sub $500 ones posted here on OzB

  • omg Celeron….

Whatever you do don’t try and ‘download’ more ram

  • Celeron processor so that is your main problem. You could make it run a little faster by running a lighter Os like Linux or Chrome Os flex, but otherwise the limitation is with the anaemic processor (which is also a couple of generations behind)

Also, most laptop screens are very easy to repair / replace, with some exceptions being Apple Macbook and touchscreen devices. If your laptop is a traditional clamshell notebook chances are you can do it yourself by following some YouTube guides or reading the service manuals.

    • the original laptop slipped and fell right way up however it smashed the screen? and has buckled the case still useable however the screen is multicoloured

      • was hoping i could upgrade ram instead of replacing a screen - assuming it would be cheaper if i could

Can you sell the ASUS Vivobook Go? If you could, then use it to fund a new laptop purchase.

This Dell Latitude 5500 for example costs less than $200 from eBay and it has a quad core coffee lake processor (Core i5 8365u), 16GB RAM, 256GB storage and a 12m warranty. Would be many times faster than any N-series Celeron.

Don't waste your money buying ram for a low-end device. You could give it all the RAM in the universe and it will still be slow.

  • need to invest in a more durable device like thinkpad or macbook. this laptop lasted just under 3 yr?
