Some mixed reviews, DOYR before committing to large investments!

    • I prefer to ROTNOBU though

      • Rotnobu?

    • Definitely read reviews first. This appears to use LFP as opposed to NMC battery, so that's a plus.

  • Does this package (I.e., battery + solar panels) require a separate inverter (e.g., fronius, etc)?

  • Hi Worf, thanks for your inquiry. AlphaESS battery already includes a hybrid inverter and you don't need another inverter to add 7.5kw solar panels.

    • Oh wow, that’s pretty cool as long as the in built inverter is reliable… but that would also apply to a separate inverter.

How many solar panel strings can this take?

      • Hi Worf, it takes up to 13 panels per string.

  • +1

    Do you use Staubli connectors?

    • Thanks for your inquiry. The MC4 connectors we use are Staubli Genuine MC4 connectors.

  • Alpha ESS get a bad wrap on crap solar on Facebook. Were $2999 in 2018 (thanks to govy rebates of around $6000). Spec wise seems ok.
I went with a Growatt system (also get some stick)..but has worked perfectly since 2018. .. except there is still no VPP for it (yet the govy rebate was only for VPP compatable systems)….classic government. Probably can get my money back for breach of T&Cs

  • What size battery do I need to run a dected aircon in a 4 bed room house all night (it's zoned and only will only use for 1 zone)

    • You would have to check this with your brand of Aircon.

The battery can expend around 12.5kwh of its 13.3kwh depending on the set up.

So if it uses 1kwh in the zone, then you get 12 hours of use. Of course that will also vary on temperature outside. Other factors are Temp you set to go to and how big the zone is.

We have single a/c unit for a bedroom (which uses about .6 of a kwh for a 5X5 bedroom

      • Thank you, I will check the info.

        • +1

Note the single unit would probably use less than the zoned system (its 5 star rated), but also uses less in early morning when temp drops (When cooling heating would be opposite)

    • Hi Hopper, Thanks for your inquiry. A residential battery system will not be sufficient to supply a ducted aircon system at night despite this AlphaESS battery is already sized 13.3kwh. You will have to consume from grid to use your ducted aircon system at night.
Usually, a 13.3kwh AlphaEss battery will be able to support a split system for the whole night.

      • Just got the info, it's has 5 zones. But looks like it still doesn't support. Thank you

  • How come no one recommends the Winaco panels which are one of the best out there? Is it because it's too expensive for deals? My 7.5kw system outperforms cheaper bigger systems that my mates are running.

    • Hi Stylsh, Thanks for your inquiry. WINAICO is a small Taiwanese solar panel manufacturer compares to Hanwa Qcell which is a large Korean global enterprise.

We can install 7.5kw WST-425NGXB-D3 (Full Black) panels for an extra $1000 on top of the standard cost of Qcell panels.

  • Recent projects: July to December 2020. Read More buttons don't work. Only one OzBargain deal in May 2020. You did nothing for 3 years?

    • Hi alvian, Thanks for your inquiry. Please feel free to check out our Google reviews and Google photos which are up to date.

  • Can these be added to an already 3kw system in place?

    • Hi Aftos, yes for sure. The AlphaESS battery includes a Hybrid inverter that can work with any existing solar system and the battery will be charged by both existing panels and new solar panels at the same time.

      • Assuming we just call 1300 211 230 and have a yarn regarding solar panel layout, installation dates, etc?

  • Hello Green IOT, can you do installation in Cairns (North Queensland)?

    • Hi cool1, thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we don't have a local team in Cairns.

  • Is the price shown without being enrolled in a VPP, or does it include the discount that the VPP offers?
If you need to be enrolled in a VPP for this can you confirm if the warranty is 10 years if you're part of a VPP - SolarQuotes shows this to be questionable with AlphaESS
"If the system is used for purposes other than self-consumption, assumed to include use as part of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), the warranty will expire earlier - when total energy of 2.92MWh per kWh of usable capacity has been dispatched from the battery."

    • +1

Hi WazzaP, thanks for your inquiry. The pricing shows without being enrolled in a VPP plan.

No discount has been included by VPP yet for the pricing we are offering for OZB.

You can join our energy retailers partners' VPP plan later on to have additional discounts.

For example, Origin for $400 onboard credit, high FIT and $1 per kwh when running VPP.
Nectr for 60 months of interest-free finance, or a $0 bill guarantee for the first 12 months.

As far as we know, energy retailer's VPP plan doesn't reduce the battery warranty.

  • Hi there - I see you have a branch in SA. What would be the interest free price for the above battery & panel deal - including removing an existing system.

Solarquotes list of cons show that QCells are no longer available in Australia.

      • +3

Probably because all the membrane wasn't up to the Aussie sun and fell apart in their mid 2000's gen panels.

Were supposed to be "German Premium Panels".

Just a heads up, after a shite fight, Qcell honoured their warranty, but it doesn't include the physical labour cost to take them down, put them back up. But this true for all panel warranties (not just Qcell).. ie. product only.

So the 'Warranty"is still going to cost you a few hundred. I bought another new set of panels for the same price as just the labour. Took the old panels down myself. The guy whacked the Qcell replacements up there as goodwill at the same time. So doubled the capacity. One string of each. will see how the cheapies go compared to the Qcells. Currently the cheapies are just ahead in terms of output (108% of their rating), Q cells are 99%.

Lastly, this battery used to be $2999 in 2018 (with the gov rebates).

        Hi Wetwork,

The panels are of good quality and we also sent the same question to Qcell Au. The panel brand can be changed to Jinko, Trina, or JA which cost us similar amount of $$.

Below are we got from MD of Hanwha Q CELLS Australia Pty Ltd.

        Dear Customers of Qcells,
We would like to express our gratitude for support that we have received throughout the
operation of Hanwha Q CELLS Australia Pty Ltd. It has been always our vision to provide
customers with premium products based on our technology comparable to none.
Notwithstanding our endeavour to realise this vision, escalating uncertainty and volatility of the
Australian solar and battery market has continuously undermined the premium segment,
making it unviable to sustain. This has unfortunately led to a difficult decision to close the
business of Hanwha Q CELLS Australia Pty Ltd.
Although its entity in the Oceanian region will no longer be operating, Hanwha Qcells
continues its operation in other countries. Directly supplied by Qcells’ factories, all our
products in Australia and New Zealand are engineered and manufactured by Qcells who
provide the manufacturer’s warranty. Indeed, we would like to assure you that Qcells’ solar
modules and ESS products having been sold and being sold in Australia are and will be
supported by Qcells’ manufacturer’s warranty program through Hanwha Qcells headquarters
and its local service partners in Australia.
If you have any concerns or questions, please contact Qcells’ partners in your region for more
        information.
        Best Regards,

        Tae Hong Kim

is Candadian Solar modules with Fronius inverter an option?

    • GreenIOT installed my solar a couple of years back, completely happy with the quality and their service. no issue with my roof after the installation and i get roughly 35kwh every day which is sufficient to offset 50% of my total electricity cost.

      • What's your system size? And what are the components?

        • growatt inverter and longi panels
          6.6kw

    • How do we calculate how much kwh we need for our household? Essentially we want to have enough to have zero electricity bill plus charge a battery for evening use.

      • +1

As a rough guide I have a 6.6kw system and generate enough for a family of four and would have enough to charge a battery as well so this deal for a 7.5kw system should be enough for most for those in Sydney unless you are very heavy users of electricity.

      • Do you have some sort of energy monitoring? You could do rough calcs with your energy bill.

There are battery calculators from Solar Quotes or from Solar Choice both are relatively reputable and may help.

This is all assuming your energy consumption habits don't change after the solar and battery install

        • Unless you have kids or fully WFH, the better assumption is only 1/3 is consumed during daytime or covered by solar.

      • Hi ozeebee,

        Thanks for your inquiry.

The 7.5kw solar panels can generate about 9000 kwh per annum or 25 kwh per day.

Assume you consume half of the solar generation daytime and the rest of solar generation charges your battery.

When your daily usage is around 20kwh, your energy bill should be very small.

The 20kwh per day is close to Syndey's average household electricity usage.

    • Is the battery compatible with a SolarEdge inverter?

      • Yes AlphaESS battery is compatible with any existing solar systems.

        • Thanks. What is mobilisation and is there an install cost?

          • @pOint01: Is this a price when you signed up for VPP?

    • -1

How much it will cost for 550w longi panel(24panel) and 10kw Fronius inverter, double story and 3 phase( post code 2287)?
