I've been waiting for this to drop in price for a few weeks now. Amazon did have it for around $330 for the big smile sale, glad I held out to this recent price drop.

A previous deal posted 10/10/23 reported an all time low of $249 delivered. Today's deal not as cheap but close enough for me.

Other stores also showing $266 (e.g. Harvey Norman). Bose online store has a price match promise that you could try.

It shits me they don’t list how many channels this has.

    • +9

Even if it had 130 channels, it’s still all virtual except the centre channel.

      • Well then that’s shit.

The more decent soundbars actually have speakers per channel.

        • +1

Yes but they are all in the centre, so they are virtual.

  • The Bose soundbar is better than the TV Speaker.

    • +1

I have the soundbar, it is ok but i would go Sonos over it if I had my time again

Bose over Sonos for me, I find Bose better for conversations.

        • Voice clarity is good on the Bose, I just found Bass is lacking a little on the Bose. I enjoy it for the bedroom I just don't think it would stack up against my system in the loungeroom.

          • @Snowy83: Sonos is better for bass/music but Bose is way better for conversation. I've got an Arc and a Ray and both are terrible at dialogue compared to my old Bose soundbar and wish I bought the 900 when I got the Arc.

      • Bose and Sonos are similar. They compete in the same space.

        • -2

Yes, both compete in the overpriced crap category

        • @congo… "Bose and Sonos are similar. They compete in the same space"

I don't know why someone gave you a negative vote. Opinions vary about these two brands of speakers for the last decade. After 50 years of experience and witnessing for myself various speaker systems, one fact remains true and that is that individual experience is and will always be a subjective one.

I have used both Sonos and Bose speakers and personally, I prefer Bose, although their older products have performed better than current models.

          • @et tu brute: Yeah I prefer Bose over Sonos as well. But they are close.
It all depends on individual's use case and the type of genre they watch or listen to.

I have a Commodore, it is ok but I would go a Maserati over it if I had my time again.

  • Suitable for karaoke?

    • Yes.
For movies, you would need a sub.

      • Can a sub be connected to this?

        • +1

          Yes, it's in the OP

  • Does this have hdmi arc? I can see hdmi input but its not marked as ARC.

*ignore. Yes it does have ARC. I just bought one from the good guys

  • Reckon this would be a good PC speaker?

    • If your PC can output audio via optical or HDMI then yes

      • but how to connect this to hdmi? i mean for me the hdmi from two monitors connected to dock then from dock i have usbc going to my laptop.

  • ill upvote this because for sound its not bad BUT….be aware if you use hdmi you may experience lip sync issues with Sony Google TVs even after a firmware update on the bose speaker. Not sure about other brands. Optical no problem though.

  • can we connect our mobile to this and play music from the speaker? so just like portable speaker thingie. thanks
hmm tempted to upgrade my yamaha YS series also bought around $200 like 6 years ago

    • +1

That was a 'nice-to-have' item on my list of things I was looking for when I settled on this speaker.

The answer is yes (at least I'm sure that's what this means):
Bluetooth TV speaker—Pair your device to this Bluetooth soundbar to wirelessly stream your favourite music and podcasts

      • is the speaker good? has a little bit bass?

        • Hasn't arrived yet. Comments above indicate that other speakers are better. My use case is primarily enhancing dialogue, which reviews say this does well.

        • +2

So I've had my TV speaker for a few days now and I'm happy with it.

I can see why people say Bose lacks bass… but if I wanted bass I would have gone for something with a subwoofer.

I might have had buyers regret at RRP, but at $266 landed (not a lot more than a good Bluetooth music speaker) for a device with dialogue function, I'm happy.

          • @fomo gmo: much better than original tv speaker, yeah? what is your tv brand and old/new model?

            • @CyberMurning: ~10 year old Samsung… UA55E6200. Pretty slim for its day, not a lot of space for speakers, so any soundbar is a step up due physics alone.

  • Now $239.40 with 10% coupon

  • Anyone compared this against JBL Multibeam 5.0 sound bar ?
