      • what is the shelf life of the beers? (from date of manufacture)

        • -2

The shelf life of beer can vary based on several factors. Here are some key points to consider:

          1. Average Shelf Life: Generally, beer has a shelf life of around 3 to 6 months from the time of packaging. However, this can vary depending on the type of beer and how it's stored ²³⁴.

          2. Factors Affecting Shelf Life:

            • Pasteurization: Whether the beer is pasteurized or not plays a significant role. Pasteurized beers tend to have a longer shelf life. Most big brands pasteurize their beer, which involves heating the bottled or canned beer to kill bacteria and extend its freshness.
            • Container Type: Beer in cans tends to stay fresher longer than beer in bottles. Cans are more effective at removing oxygen and have a more airtight seal, reducing oxidation.
            • Refrigeration: Proper refrigeration helps preserve beer quality. Unopened beer stored in the fridge can last longer.
            • Alcohol Content: Beers with higher alcohol content can remain viable for up to 1-2 years, especially if unopened.
            • Date Stamps: Many beers now have date stamps indicating when they were bottled or canned. Look for "born on," "best by," or "enjoy by" dates to gauge freshness. Choose beers with the furthest future date for optimal enjoyment.

          3. Enjoy Freshness: Remember that beer is meant to be enjoyed fresh. So, pick a beer with a "best by" date that allows you to savor it at its best.

In summary, while the average shelf life is around 3 to 6 months, individual beers may last longer based on the factors mentioned above. Cheers! 🍻

shelf life depends on style and IPA might not be drinking as well at just a couple of months old, particularly if not stored cold

I'd guess this Brown Ale would be drinking fine well past a year

    EASTER SPECIAL!

    Beer for Lent ?

During Lent, the pious monks largely stayed away from solid foods, gaining their calories instead from Fastenstarkbier, a dark, strong beer with a malty flavor and a typical alcohol content of 7% or above. A daily ration of five litres of the potent stuff was not unheard of.
