No Idea where they getting them, from but back in stock again. This time 10 at the time of posting.

I can't see any further discounts for eBay Plus but I am no longer a member, so may be different for you.

Below are some cheap (around the $460-$480 mark) brand new 5.1 AV receivers to do a search on, or for even cheaper, look for a used 5.1 receiver on FB or Gumtree.

  • Do the rears come with stands like in the photo? Thats a bargain, sans or no

Comes with wall mounts and stands for the speakers and a wall mount for the sub, which can either sit on the floor or be wall mounted.

Apologies, I just realised I misinterpreted your question. They don't come with the tall stands. Just the short ones you see in the pics.

  • I wouldn't trust these without a demo unit to play in-store. Way too much work (especially the wiring) only to have an impossible return possibility.

How can you go wrong with a set of 5.1 speakers for this price from a reputable brand built back in their heyday?
Also how involved / intricate is your wiring going to be? If you actually want 5.1 or more, wiring is a prerequisite.

Got one for giggles to use in garage.

I have a 2.1 amp i bought from ali for $50 which i will use this. Cant post a link as ozb blocks it.

    • Yeah, I bought a set to use in my bedroom with an old receiver. And bought another set for the garage to use as a 2.1 same as you.

They still have stock for such an old model.

Speakers are an old technology. Not much innovation at this price point in analog form without the digital components.

Sh*tty logitechs sell for 2x this used lol

You are looking in the wrong places my friend.

My yamaha 7 speaker system ( including 2 tower speakers) with amp and dual subwoofer setup cost me less than $100 and its probably 10 years old in terms of tech.

At 25% volume, i can hear the tv clearly from my street parking

@xdpx: My point is you can get a better system than this second hand if you do your own research, even for smaller systems.

Previously i had a sonos soundbase and 2 x play 3 speakers which all cost me around $200.

Speakers are best bought second hand mainly because they have past the "break in period" and you can immediatly enjoy them. Its also hard for a passive speaker to die, as long as casing and cones/tweeters are in good condition, you are good to go. Always make sure no dents or punctures in cones/tweeters

Just as a point here, that's hardly proof of any sort of quality. Most speakers can move quite a lot of air, the quality is in what they sound like doing it. Making noise isn't hard, making pleasant noise though…

Not gonna argue that you can get some good deals on gumbookbay, but those deals are rare. Getting an ns 555 for $100 just because the seller didn't know its worth isn't an everyday thing.

Then you'd hope the guy has an avr on hand still to demo the speakers to make sure they aren't crackling or distorting.

I don't agree with speakers being better second hand. Break in is like 200hrs if you believe that sh*t, play white noise overnight for a week. I'd be more worried about the condition the cones have been through Eg. Moisture, listening levels, dented domes.

If you need small satellite speakers or looking at a set for computers, this is the best you'll get at this price.

Thats why you always buy from sellers over 50yrs old in wealthy suburbs.

I see them everyday on marketplace, you are either too lazy to look for or looking in the wrong place/suburbs

            • @xdpx: Not rare , just look in right place.
Some examples for quick 5 min search, might not suit everyone

              Yamaha $50 from Sans Sousi

Full yamaha system with amp and sub $80

Another yamaha system with amp and sub $200

I see deals like these every single day. Just wont bother driving unless its an exceptional deal for really high end speakers

I was even going to drive to melbourne to pickup a very high end yamaha system (speakers/sub/amp) but someone outbid me by $50 (i offered $200, they got it for $250)

                • @xdpx: Thats just a quick search "speakers" to prove that there are better bargains out there for those who want a decent setup.

Im sure ill find more higher end bargains with specific search words and criteria and widening my search area

Don't know what i am buying but still bought one

  • Thinking of pairing these with a Nobsound 5.1 amp from Ali — love the name, love the knobs. Any advice.

PS, what's the trick with posting Ali links?

    • I guess if it can decode/output Dolby Digital/DTS etc, it should ok

  • Does it come with whole shit or just 2 speakers please:)

  • got mine yesterday including a 2.1 amp I bought from Aliexpress, dont have time to hook it up for a while though as I am in between houses.

    Anyone got theirs? impressions?
