I Am Done with Trusting ShopBack with Large Cashback Amounts

Recent Shopback Good Guys 18% offer.
Sounds to good to be true yeah?

So I bought a $1400 fridge and think "yeah, nailed it"

Was very anxious though, given my less than stellar success with Shopback.

Of course now they said that I'm not eligible because it wasn't clicked through properly.
I showed them a screenshot of 4 clicks recorded by them and my item added to cart and purchased within those clicks.

They finally gave me this "reason (excuse)" "Unfortunately, The Good Guys won't process rewards for your recent order due to recent updates. This decision is influenced by factors like attribution to another marketing channel."

What is that?

How can I trust any Shopback deals moving forward?

    Cancel the order.

    • Wish I could.

The fridge has been sitting in the kitchen for the past four weeks.

It's easier getting cash from Shopback than to return a used fridge to Good Guys. BTW I know I'm getting neither.

    Trashback /thread

    • And ironically after I said this in the last shopback fiasco (hard to remember which one since there are so many) I got downvoted to oblivion…

But it's ok… OP will get a $3 voucher to spend at some store they have never heard of, so it will all be good…

I wonder how many people got done for this…

Good Guys suck for their own storecash promo, and their website doesn't work if using AdBlockPlus/Adguardhome - I wouldn't trust them to track a cookie if my life depended on it

Would you have still bought it without cashback? If not… then why did you buy it in the first place?

The simple rule is don't buy it with the expectation you'll get cashback to avoid disappointment.

All cashback sites have a similar issue where it's not 100% that the cashback is tracked properly.

      ^^^ this…
And I think its been said in every one of the last 500000 threads of disappointment.

True, I had an Agoda shopback, supposed to get like $80 back, it was recorded then shopback retracted it and wanted proof after the holiday dates. Gave it to them and they still rejected it. Now they wanted the airline boarding pass to check I didn't cancel the flight.

Like wtf…. I got it after 1 year complaining but shop back can track a measly 10c eBay transaction instantly and I even broke their coupon rule.

    Funny that huh

Ahh this old trick. Disappointing and frustrating I'd cancel the order unless you really want it. I now also screenshot the shopback promos pages too because sometimes if you submit the missing cashback they'll only approve the default % and you have to reply and tell them there was a promo on at the time at a higher %.

How can I trust any Shopback deals moving forward?

You can't, I stopped feeding CR for this same reason……

  • imho cashback sites aren't worth the hassle. There is a good chance you won't get the cashback and it encourages you to spend more $$ than you would have, or spend with retailers that you wouldn't otherwise, or pay more because of the marketing link (travel sites), or forego another offer. In the end you may well end up worse off than if you'd never heard of Shopback.

I always favour reliable cashbacks like coupons that apply discounts instantly or Amex offers compared with Shopback clicks that don't allow coupons etc

Still if you would buy it anyway then Shopback is worth a try, usually they pay out
