  • Great deal! Wondering if VIC has the same deal.

  • Has anyone tried using this to spray weed killer? Seems like a better option than having to constantly pump the handle.

Edit: just realised this needs to run off 12v car cigarette sock, thought this was a battery rechargeable unit.

    • you could adapt it

    • I think the pressure is way too high for weed killer. It'll probably disrupt your soil as well as atomise and drift everywhere for people and animals to conveniently breathe in.

    • Seems like a better option than having to constantly pump the handle.

You are using a trigger-pump sprayer?! Get an air-powered garden sprayer for $10-20. Pump air first, then go spraying.
If thats still too hard, attaching a 12V air compressor to that would be easier than trying to convert a water pump.

Looks good, only thing is you'll have to leave the window open a bit to run the lead into the ciggy lighter.

    • I think it maybe better to run the cable along the bottom of the door and close it, shouldnt be thick enough for the door to squish or cut it.

      • Good point.
Need to be careful to find a part of the door that wont kink and cut it but if its just to soft seal area should be fine/

i could see its application at the beach (cleaning sand off before getting in the car)
but i can't think of much else to use it for?

maybe washing hands at a picnic? what else?

    • washing your house walls or windows from the outside?
(you'd have to park your car nearby though!)

    • Thanks for sharing this idea. I hadn't though about this. And honestly, that (cleaning sand off before getting in the car) is the thing that annoys me the most when we go to the beach.

    • cleaning that deadly bat sh1t! man, that stuff has eaten away on my clear coat damn it!, iv tried using the hose from the mains but man, this stuff is caked on tough!.

i wonder if this will be enough to remove it in the future?

mmm ill try it out hahah.

Washing the car within water regulations. Saves getting bucket after bucket & just sloshing it to get the suds off. Looks like that brush is just made for giving the car a wash too.

      • +1

I should add, I know in SA during Summer you are not allowed to use a hose running off mains to wash your car. You must only use a bucket. The irony is that you can use a hose to fill the bucket. Go figure.

        • +1

Yup, my buddy got done for washing his car with his garden hose during water restrictions here in NSW a few years back; he wasn't impressed!

The council ranger told him that he should have used the hose to fill a bucket for rinsing…but there was no restriction on how many times he could fill the bucket…he still has WTF flashbacks!!! ;)

        • +2

What's even more stupid, is that you use more water when rinsing by sloshing a bucket over the car than you do by squirting it with the hose, plus the hose gets the suds off better.
I'm happy to wash it with the bucket, but I want to rinse with the hose.

        • It's a lot more hassle and effort to fill a bucket and use that bucket to rinse the car.. I'm guessing the added hassle might make people more careful in how much water they use.

  • Oh man, this looks like it would be awesome for cleaning my shower if I could get a mains adapter for it.

    • rig up an old computer power supply? they have 12v rails.

      • Could work I guess, the instruction manual reckons it draws 90 watts, which I imagine is within the ability of an old computer PSU.

  • Bargain! Thanks OP!! I could think of many uses for this either as is or strip it for parts to use in other car-azy projects. Here's hoping my local Bunnings has a few in stock…

  • Is this in any way an improvemnet over a garden hose? It is not high pressure.
And the 16l tank is only two buckets worth.

    • I suppose it's been designed for remote use when you're away from the mod-cons of city living (camping, 4WD'ing, large properties etc.) but you're right I doubt it'd be much better than decent town supply pressure and a good quality jet nozzle.

Who washes their car while they are camping!?
Perhaps such obsessive cleanliness explains why all the 4WDs I see here look like they've never been off-road.

"Who washes their car while they are camping!?"

… and there's the reason these are now $19 :)

  • Anybody had any luck in finding these in Melbourne?

Just called 3 stores in the west and neither had any in stock. One of the guys I spoke told me that they reduced a lot of the Ozito range (not just this product) and many stores probably wouldn't have any in stock. They could possibly order it but not at this price.

Other 2 stores had no idea what I was talking about. Despite describing the product to them in detail.

Wonder if this is available in wa, our dog has this annoying habit of rolling in sh1t when we are out camping…

    • +1

At least it doesnt eat its own crap, like my friends dog. Kind of clean and dirty at the same time lol

    • -2

      Like owner like dog?

      lol jk…

      • i listen to crap lol jk

    • Pretty sure I would rather it eat it… (if it doesn't make it sick)

Just stopped by Bunnings in Narre Warren, VIC…
These are still marked as $49.95 there.

    • Same @ Mansfield Bris, $49.95

      • are they able to price match it or is this just a store specific offer?

        • ive had Bunnings price match interstate stores before. It really depends on the person helping you. Ive been denied at one store, and no problem at another store.

  • I have always been staying away from 12V DC applicances (i.e. using car 12V socket) since last time using a vacuum cleaner and drained up the battery….

    • Having a car jump starter for this is handy, although you make a great point!

    • You need to run the engine while you use it (or any 12V high-current device, really). You'll then be using the car's alternator, not the battery.

  • are these available in sydney ?

Just checked Albion, Rocklea & Oxley stores here in QLD. Albion & Rocklea still have a fair amount of stock by the looks (10+) and Oxley only had one however all stores had them marked at $49.95 :( I didn't bother asking to price match as I didn't have a lot of time to blow plus the last time I did that it didn't work anyway.

Ah well, still a good deal OP and worth keeping an eye on so thanks for that.

    • +1

You checked Oxley, Albion and Rocklea but were short of time. Really??

      • Ha, they were enroute while I was on the road at lunchtime. Had to get back to work so I can afford more OzBargain stuff ;)

  • …was told by the tools guy in bunnings

"Hi. Who the hell are you?".

"I'm Bruce, the tools guy at Bunnings".

I scored one of these for $5 at Bunnings Ashcroft (?) in Qld last sunday week. They had then reduced to $19, then $12.50 on the saturday, didn't grab one but went back on the sunday for some more junk when they were getting rid of the last few for $5. They lasted about 5 seconds at that price.

    • wow! 5 bucks!??! man, i thought i got a good deal at 19$ haha. nice one.

  • Still 49.95 in Bunnings Rockdale (NSW) unfortunately…
Anyone got this deal anywhere in Sydney metro?
