EDU_15

Amazing prices for those that have an existing LG VIP membership. You must add to cart and the "EDU_15" code is automatically used to see the discounted prices.

C3 Range:
42" - $1,453
65" - $2,524
77" - $3,671
83" - $4,972

G3 Range:
55" - $2,677
77" - $4,589

The kicker is the 8% cashrewards promotion going on at the same time which ends today. My transaction was tracked within the hour.

Edit 1:

Ok it looks like there are two conditions to be met.
1. Your LG account needs to be an education account with a ".edu.au" email address.
2. The LG account needs to be upgraded to a VIP account.

Follow the below steps to get your VIP membership status:

  1. Go to https://www.lg.com/au/education-hub, then click on the 'Sign Up' banner
  2. Sign up with your ".edu.au" email address
  3. After the account is set up, click on this link https://www.lg.com/au/shop/vipshop/key/index/
  4. Enter code: HSBC_LG_VIP to upgrade your basic LG account to VIP with that code.
  5. You should now have access to the education store with the lower pricing. Remember to add to cart and it will automatically apply the EDU_15 coupon code.

Credit to "BargainsGrabber" for VIP account upgrade instructions.

    Damn, a 55” G3 would be nice. A shame it’s targeted.

    • +1

So apparently it wouldn't be nice to own a 55" G3 and/or the deal is not targeted LOL.

  • +2

I bought a c3 65 two days ago for 2641 just by asking the sales guy for those who don't have a VIP membership.

    • Which salesguy? Jb?

      • That information would be helpful wouldnt it facepalm @ JB HIFI

        • Thank you! Online or in person?

          • +2

@Tyler00: In person, I know they're hungry in store for sales.

        • +1

Good work, people forget that you can get some crazy deals by simply throwing offers at them in person. Because at the end of the day, they have sales targets to meet.

    • As in you asked for the same price instore as the online LG VIP store?

  • Average price for the 42", it has been as cheap as $1320 elsewhere in the last few weeks

  • @VIVh - Could you please confirm if the prices you listed on your post are inclusive of the potential cashback? VIP prices are not matching on my end. Tks

  • +1

Your Cashback got tracked but might not get approved because the coupon is not listed on CR. But here’s to hoping that it will :D

    • +1

YMMV - my last purchase from LG store, I used a code not on CR and it tracked + got paid

  • What is required, or how do you get access to the Education store?

  • I called LG yesterday asking about any upcoming easter sales and they said no. So I went ahead and purchased the LG C3 77" through Harvey Norman… anything I can do?

    • Have you taken delivery of it? Just cancel the order if it isn’t too late.

      • yeah its been received. So frustrating..

    • +1

      Nope being Harvey Norman nothing

      • oh shit… it says this on HN website

How do I request a Price Match?
Simply present proof of the competitor’s advertised price for the identical product, either at the time of purchase or within 7 days after your purchase.

        • +4

Doubt they will price match it because this price is offered to VIP education members only, not public.

          • @JimB: Yep, not a chance they will match this.

  • +1

Is it a fair assumption that if LG doesn't have 65 G3's then it'll be unlikely another shipment is coming to retailers?
    Should I just buy a C3 or wait for G4's or C4's?

    • Why would you wait for C4’s as they’ll be full price until next year (maybe some mid year sales) when they’re discounted like this again!

  • Any chance JB matches this deal?

    • Go try

      • +1

ye I’m going to try. They do have the 20% off bundle which brings down 83 c3 to $5196, but I don’t need a soundbar.

    • +1

Very unlikely. They would (YMMV) match student pricing as they do with Apple products but highly doubt they could match the VIP pricing

    • Absolutely no harm in trying. Let us know how you go.

      • JB won’t even try. Good guys happpily matched c3 83.

  • +2

That seems like a very good deal on C3 77"

  • Why isnt the C3 55" discounted?

Edit: Looks like they're out of stock. Bummer.

  • +2

Insane deal on the C3 77" for $3671. Thanks OP!

  • can someone send me a screen shot of the offer? I might use it to price match

  • +1

Killer deal for the G3, especially with cashback. Thanks OP!

  • +2

Goddamn it, couldn't resist and got the 77 C3.

Waiting for it to be tracked on CB

    • CB tracked after 1 hour @ $267.

Final price of $3404 if approved

      • Do you have a legit HSBC account?

        • strangely i was not prompted to put in any code when i joined VIP earlier this morning. But yes, i have a HSBC account

    • Had one for a while now, great tv.

  • Didn’t last time they asked for direct proof of a HSBC account otherwise your order was cancelled I believe?!?

  • +1

Damn OLED's are getting cheaper, i bought my 65" CX 3 years ago four around $3700 and that was on sale.
IF you are thinking about pulling the trigger on an OLED just do it, mine is still impeccable and i will always buy a good TV from now on thanks to the experience.
For the amount we are sitting watching a TV, why not buy a good one!!

  • Anyone else having issues with Step 3 - "After the account is set up, click on this link https://www.lg.com/au/shop/vipshop/key/index/" - the page is a dead end?

    • They might have closed the loophole already

  • Great price.

Ouch for me, I paid $6.5k for my 83" OLED ~2 years ago….

    This is $4.6k after cashback.

    • +1

But you had 2 amazing years with it I hope?

      • Yes and I still enjoy it most days when I get the chance to watch TV, but still does hurt a little haha

  • +3

Yes, for those $5k TV customers: students

    • Overseas students using the Bank of Mum & Dad.

  • Can we still claim the warranty in future if we lose access to education store?

    • Yes, the warranty process is the same. All they need is a proof of purchase.

  • How do you get the 8% cash bac!

  • how do you get an edu email address?

    • By being a student.

      • thanks, but any other way as I'm not?

        • Do you know anyone who is?

  • +1

ok so I managed to get all the way to payment, saw the edu_15 applied, then when I clicked pay it took me to the next screen, no longer had the 15% offered and now I cant seem to get the 15% edu discount back up. its disappeared.

    • +1

      Same thing happened to me

      • yeh I cant seem to get the edu_15 discount back. I mean 5399 is still ok but im in no rush to pay that, if the 15% worked then id buy now

    • I created an LG account using an EDU email address, never saw the 15% discount appear at checkout. Have sent email to [email protected] requesting assistance.

      • It just of been cancelled right as I hit payment on my end as it was there when I added to cart and went into checkout then when I proceeded to pay it disappeared.
It was there automatically too as an available coupon, i didn’t have to add it.

  • How can I get an edu email address

    • By being a student.

      • i go to a dodgy private school that doesnt give em out

  • +1

Mine got tracked with cashrewards, c3 77 inch ended up costing 3337 aud.

    • when did you buy, the edu discount disappeared on me for some random reason, it was there, then it vanished when I tried to pay

    • How? Mine was $3404 after CB cashback

  • Damm… I just missed it, I think this coupon has expired.

    • +3

Yes it looks like the coupon has expired. I have marked this deal as expired.

  • Oh man.. literally been waiting for this.. didn't know EDU_15 was time limited.. thought it was an always-on thing

    • +4

It was always on until it’s on ozbargain front page

      • As much as I love OzBargian.. sometimes we really ruin it for everybody.

  • Anybody who got the edu discount, have you noticed that your $100-$300 cash back coupon code has disappeared off your coupon list or it just me?

    • Yeah its gone, they've removed it I think because of the people who used the HSBC code to get VIP.

Funny thing is, if you've got an .edu.au email, which is required for the edu discount anyway, you didn't need the HSBC code to get VIP. In your account page, there was a link to just upgrade your account.

  • So they also pulled the HSBC_LG_VIP.
So I can no longer upgrade to VIP.

    • I think they’ve shunted the whole thing.

  • +1

The EDU_15 code appeared in my account again. Was able to nab the 83” G4 for $7649.23. Unfortunately missed the 8% cashback with CashRewards but got the tracking confirmation for 2.1%.

    • Are you a VIP member or just a LG Education Store member?

      • +1

VIP member took the price down to $8999 and then 15% off that, was able to get it through signing up using an .edu email and then clicking an upgrade link. Never had to input the HSBC_LG_VIP code at all.

        • Thanks, will setup an education account tonight and see what happens. Not expecting much but you never know until you try.

        • It worked! Setup the LG education account last night and the link to upgrade to VIP was there. Now I have the EDU_15 code in my Coupons but having second thoughts about buying the 83" G4, it's alot of $$$.

  • yeah managed to setup an EDU account today and when i logged in i got a button to upgrade so hit that and it made me VIP without needing a code. i tried that link anyway and when i put in HSBC_LG_VIP, it didnt accept it so thats gone and i think the prices are a bit higher - 77" C3 is $3,824.23 after the EDU_15 and i cant stack it with the welcome $50 off and 8% cashback isnt on so 2.1% only takes off $89 ~$3735

    • also the EDU_15 is from 11 Mar 2024 - 30 Apr 2024

any chance of getting shopback to do 8% this time :D
