Note this is better deal:

If you missed out on the m2 max for $4200, then this is the next best thing.

It’s 14 inch though.

The 1tb has better processor than the 512gb, in case you don’t realise like me was. To me, this should be the minimum MacBook pro spec to get. Any lower then just get air

Maybe try get a price beat from officeworks.

    • Purchased, thanks for saving me ~$240!

  • The coupon code isn't working when I'm trying it.

    • worked for me.

  • The 16 inch seems to have been the better laptop if battery is important but this does have more storage…the temptations are there and as much as I want to get it. I will wait for the m3 to go to this price.

    • By then, m4 will be available.

      • That's ok. I'm just holding off with my PC until I go knee deep in uni

        • It’s strange that apple release m3 so soon. Maybe they will release m4 a bit later.

@Frankensnore: The release of m3 was expected and strategic. While Intel 4 (5nm) still isn't ideal, it did at least have the marketing trick to counter Apple m2. Furthermore, the AI wave, ray tracing, Apple needs a laptop CPU that has features of A17. Also, it doesn't make sense for Apple to be TSMC's first 3nm customer yet only use that for mobile CPUs.

m3 also cleaned up the SSD mess of m2 at entry levels (256GB for m2, and 512GB for m2 Pro, Apple messed up the SSDs). All these m2 is so amazing is somewhat ironic because you have to get 1TB SSD for m2 Pro if you don't want to get crippled SSD performance (lucky for m2 Max, it starts at 1TB).

m4, the expectation is first half of 2025 (with people expecting m3 ultra to be released in second half of 2024, if not earlier). People who haven't bought Apple silicon devices get excited with Apple silicon products, but once they own one, it becomes quite hard to entice people to buy another one for quite some time.

m4, will Intel Thunderbolt 5 be ready in time? I suspect Apple already done the design of m4 by now. WiFi 7 has a good chance to be added to m4. PCIe gen 5 support, I reckon m4 might not have it still.

Well, with the back to uni / school deal + 8% cash rewards + 10% discount Apple gift card, M3 Pro + 18GB RAM + 1TB could be had for $2669 about a month ago. Or, if you were willing to accept 512GB SSD: $2439 (M3 series doesn't have the annoying SSD single NAND chip mess like M2/M2 Pro did). Granted the $240 from Apple was a gift card, which means you do have to buy another Apple product later on.

Also, since that was buying directly from Apple, there will be less fuss when you visit Apple later on if you need support. It annoys me a bit that when I wanted warranty support for an Apple iPhone purchased from OfficeWorks, without producing the invoice, Apple would use an approximate date (based on when the iPhone was made).

          • @netsurfer: That's a very good deal was that on here? In guessing I can't get that anymore?

  • Can still be bought for 2829 on ebay
