Just a reminder, the K6 burrs are predominately focused toward filter/light roast/clarity forward coffee. Not so much espresso/body. Best hand grinder for (anywhere near) the price.

    • Is there a hand grinder for espresso that's recommended for this price point?

      • +3

this will be great for espresso, there's nothing really else that will compete at this price as the 1zpresso stuff seems to be much more expensive
I'll be getting it for espresso

Hi mate, if you're looking for more traditional espresso/shorter ratio pulls with more fines etc, the K4 or K2 will do you just fine. The K6 is great for espresso but more turbo pulls/longer ratio stuff etc

K4 is probably what you want. The bang for buck on it is amazing.

        • Daily k4 user here, can confirm. Shots from my bdb+k4 taste like a friend's shots from bdb+niche zero.

I do have to work somewhat harder for it though.

I got my k4 off Amazon in October last year for about $130 on Amazon…they do occasionally stock it. Good luck.

This is good for the k6, I got the k4 for 108 and use it at the office a couple of times a day. Well made and no complaints so far. Grinds nicely and consistently.

Also have the k4, been using it for about a year now and it's been flawless, great coffee grinders for the price.

  • have been waiting for this

When I was traveling overseas last year, I used a cheap ($30) battery powered electric grinder from eBay (link below). It worked very well for my French coffee press as I only need coarse grinds. However, I don't think it's electric motor has enough power to grind fine enough for espresso machines.

    Got one! Thanks OP.

Been thinking about getting a grinder for a while now and got this based on the comments.

    • For espresso I set it to the 1st level and click 30 for a 3:1 ratio on the airjo enterprise blend. Although it's designed to be used with a drill also, I try not to go full bore and only try to go about as fast as i could hand crank.

I bought the K1 a few months ago, and it’s so much better than my Hario

This is good but cant beat comandante grinder, worth the extra.

Comandante lost my support when they went after resellers of other hand grinders, like 1zepresso and Timemore, a couple of years ago.

I don’t recall the detail but if you want to test copyright infringement then go after the manufacturer. Don’t threaten small and large businesses who choose to stock other grinders, in addition to yours. That’s very cartel-like behaviour.

100%. And also, they are a lot more money for very diminishing returns.

        • I nearly bought a Comandante and then ended up going a 1zpresso JX Pro at half the price. I'm super glad I did - I don't really know what the Comandante would have done better.

Just Googled that as I have not paid attention to grinders for a while now.

Yeah, total BS they were pushing. Hand grinders have been around for absolutely ages, there is nothing unique about Comandante vs others.

  • Was going to buy K4 next time it went on sale back at the cheapest price…but they arent selling it anymore on Amazon? Damn! Should have bought it last time! (Didnt really need it)

  • OOS :(

Can definitely recommend the K4 too. Has been great for my Aeropress and so much faster than my old Hario Skerton.
