Kawai ES120B Digital Piano - Black $775 Delivered @ Better Music

80

I have had my eye out for a Kawai ES120B ever since just missing out on this deal for a Roland FP30X, discussed here. Seems that the Kawai is actually pretty good, possibly even better depending on what you are looking for!

Anyway this looks like a good, even a great price. This instrument is one of the key recommendations in its price bracket at /r/piano and also from a number of reviewers - I'm sure there are better pianos out there but they would cost more.

After comparing this one with the FP30X I went with this because it has better sound quality, a lighter key action, and is lighter overall (12kg).

I don't know when the sale ends but it is an 'Easter sale' so I suspect soon.

Nice keyboard. Factor in a stand and seat.

  • Have mosts things on discount, eg the Kawai VPC1 for under $2200,
    And the Komplete s88 Mk3 for $1804:

  • Tempted as I've heard great things. Overkill for my kid but I really want them to have access to quality. I know nothing about them but is there a custom seat/stand. Saw something like a kit on the website but seemed to have a slightly different model number? An extra character?

    • You can get a stand that this attaches too and includes pedals. Comes in a bundle. There is also a fix stand version that uses the same guts I think but it occupies a bit more space and more solid in my opinion.

      Damn, beat me to it.

  • Does anyone know how the key action for this 'feels' compared to the Roland FP30X?

    • This is lighter according to OP

      • Yes I don't speak from experience but from what I read this is lighter. There are some very detailed reviews out there, not a direct comparison, but I read one detailed review of each keyboard by the same reviewer.

Same price at Australian Piano Warehouse, cheaper at Australian Warehouse with Black stand $1,049 and cheaper at Better Music with White stand $1,079

Quite easy to assemble, takes less than 30mins. Bought it recently, looks great in both black and white, keys feel solid in terms of weight and sounds wonderful to the ear.
Great 88 key piano for someone looking to go from beginner to intermediate.
Currently learning on it, and yes there are direct comparisons to the Roland FP30X on youtube, having listened to both instore, the Kawai ES120 sounded better to my ear.

Yamaha is the better than Kawai and Roland.
