Some new prices live. On classic.

  • Hi OP, any chance on dropping the blunt sports, too, please?

    • +1

No there's no chance of that. Sorry not sorry.

      • Thanks. Worth a shot. Entertaining thread, cheers

        • +3

I try I try. I know… I'm amazzzzing. Btw.. this is what happens when they say to the intern "go list this on ozbargain".

  • Wow timing, my umbrella just broke. Ordered a blue exec

    • Timing is everything.

  • If this design + material is so good, why don't they all make umbrellas like this instead of making the same old for years and years? Economy of scale can bring down the price from $100+ to maybe ~$25 (who knows!). I am sure more people will buy them and benefit from them. I am referring to mass market, not specialised brands like this one.

Because capitalists like selling you stuff that breaks. There's more money in it even if it means our imminent demise as a species.

Planned obsolescence is a business strategy where products are designed to have a limited lifespan or become out-of-date quickly, prompting consumers to buy replacements or newer versions. Here’s how it works and its impacts:

      Business Model
      - Encourage repeat purchases: By limiting the durability or relevance of products, companies ensure a continuous demand for newer versions.
      - Market dominance: Companies can release products in a controlled manner, dictating market trends and staying ahead of competitors.
      - Maximize profit: Reducing the time between purchases increases sales, boosting profitability.

      Profitability
      - Short-term gains: Companies benefit financially in the short term as consumers are forced to replace products more frequently.
      - Customer loyalty vs. backlash: It can lead to higher customer loyalty if new versions are perceived as significant improvements. However, it risks consumer backlash if seen as exploitative.

      Environmental Impact
      - Waste accumulation: Leads to significant electronic and consumer waste, as products are disposed of long before their potential end of use.
      - Resource strain: Constant manufacturing to replace obsolete items strains natural resources and increases energy consumption.
      - Pollution: The life cycle from production to disposal of products generates pollution, including emissions from manufacturing processes and landfill waste.

Overall, while planned obsolescence can drive economic activity and innovation, it often comes at the cost of increased environmental degradation and consumer dissatisfaction if not managed ethically and sustainably.

Well for the 1st time ever I just paid $99 for an umberella. The exec.

    Wind tunnel video wins.

Can you hire the machines by the hour?

    • Welcome to the $99 umbrella club. You need to find a commercial aircon unit.

    • The exec is heavy. Thinking of getting a classic but it doesn’t come with sleeves.

      • You can buy sleeves from the Blunt website for about $25 delivered from memory. Pretty solid sleeve too

        • Plus delivery.

          • @ca6leguy: Yes, you're right. I bought mine when I bought my Classic umbrella at the same time

  • -2

Are you taking the ride? So you place an insane rrp and put and even more ridiculous discounted price and say its a deal?

    • +5

No one has ever accused me of the idiomatic expression of "taking the ride" @Raj09. Except the uber driver…. when i just stood there and he was like "dude, are you taking the ride??" so … him… and you … that's it. But his made sense, because i just wouldn't get in. You, you on the other hand are confused about what an RRP is, who sets them and how value works.

    • +1

I hope you are using a cheap Realme phone of sorts and have a cheap FFalcon TV because if you open your eyes and look around, pretty much every premium brand have an 'insane rrp'. Apple, Samsung electronics and whitegoods, Makita, Sony, Bose, DJI… even average clothing and shoes Nike and Adidas today for that matter are not so cheap.
Yes, they're just umbrellas and have a premium price to it but they are for a reason. engineering, R&D and QC uses lots of money and time.

    • +1

Just an FYI for when you get upset the next time a deal is posted on a higher end product:

Are you taking the ride? So you place an insane rrp and put and even more ridiculous discounted price and say its a deal?

      You're mixing your idioms.

It's "taking the piss/mickey" or "taking me for a ride."

  • Back to $139.

    • wait wat?

    • noooo… this is an error. let me fix

    • fixed

      • Thanks.

        • you… are welcome

guys please report any pricing issues.

    • Not sure if I missed it - Blue and Pink back to $115 and $99 respectively? Most of the others back to $149 (but dunno if they were ever included).

Bummed cause I was looking at these not 3 days ago

      • We have a few pinks left and then they will be priced back up closer to RRP.

  • Got a dodgy umbrella when I tried this from the last deal - did not spring open properly after 30-40 times, still needed to be manually pushed, and a small bit of dodgy stitching that seems to be coming loose. Encountering quite poor responsiveness from customer service to try and get this resolved.

    • Did you buy from us?

    • if you bought from Rushfaster, you get an email from the CEO after you purchase and if you are unsatisfied with any response you can email him and he'll personally see to it that you're looked after.

      • I hope you’re listening, Apple. Pickup your game Tim Cook!

  • I have Bunnings umbrellas but actually want one of these, have ordered. More classy than my Bunnings and better design than the Senz.

    • be like @cammyg

  • OzPremium

    • x_x

Who would have thought you could sell so many high priced umbrellas in less than 5 hours 😂🎉🎉

    • +5

The first step is believing in yourself

      • You are a natural salesman!

    1. Emily Blunt
    2. Smoke a blunt.
    3. Blunt umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
    • Literally and strangely the first Rihanna joke of the thread, ed ed ed.

  • Can you add the black to this sale? I have uniform standards.

    • Like school uniform?

      • +1

        Like military

        • That escalated quickly

          • @RushfasterAu: 🤣🤣

            • +1

@Fitzwah: Unfortunately you have the following options
              1. Tell the military that uniforms aren’t the future and you should be able to express yourself with whichever colour umbrella you choose.
              2. Purchase a blue umbrella and a sharpie.
              3. Buy at full price.
              4. Convince someone else on the thread to flip their umbrella in exchange for a pretty blue one.

But honestly sorry we can’t do any more at these prices because the price was just so good.
