[Audiobook, Audible Premium Plus] Homer - The Illiad $7, The Odyssey $6 + More @ Audible AU

100

I find these scrolling through Audibles discounted titles: https://www.audible.com.au/ep/sale?page=1
They are cheaper than a half price credit. Sale prices are available for current Audible Premium Plus members only.

Most of the books didn't interest me; they were the most appealing. However, I suspect a male would be better suited at translating the Illiad, a very testosterone-ny literary work.

The George Orwell Collection is $7: https://www.audible.com.au/pd/The-George-Orwell-Complete-Col…

Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky (Naxos version) is $6 (I read C&P for a university subject; it was my favourite book from the subject's reading list).

Audible USA seem to have a completely different selection of audio books for sale. The best was Watchers by Dean Koontz, at $7 ( assume that is USD): https://www.audible.com/pd/Watchers-Audiobook/B07D2JG8TH

Are they the original versions, or translations?

    • +3

      Translation, of course.

I do not believe Homer penned both The Illiad & The Odyssey in English.

I prefer it in Ancient Greek.

  • Listening to the Stephen Fry books on this at the moment. First couple through the library and Libby, last one on Spotify.
    Highly recommend.

  • Yes,are you listening to Stephen Fry reading Homer or reading something else?

    • It's called mythos, then heroes and then troy.
Really good. I went in cold on Greek mythology.
