I probably wouldn't risk it, just get a Breville.

    The infuser is currently $394.

Would avoid a Kogan branded coffee machine, without reviews.

At this price point I would get something like this.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404654877911 - Sunbeam Barista Max

Would avoid Kogan branded everything. Home brand is rarely a good value purchase. Sure, some people will say "I have x and it is OK" but even if 60% of their products are fine it's not worth the risk to be one of the other 40%.

That ebay listing is $741. You got fooled by a classic ebay scam, multiple items in one listing.

      • +1

        Oh damn, I did.

      • +2

        God I hate that "feature".

    • $741 ?

      That's hardly a fair comparison.

I think the safest bet is for a barista express sub $600, but that's double the price of this Kogan one. If I was in the market, I'd risk it tbh.

      • I goofed up with that ebay link. But you can often get a Sunbeam Barista Max for around $350, or a bit more for the Breville Barista Express. Either way my point is you can get a good well reviewed machine for not much more.

        • +1

Yeah I agree. Those two options are probably the safest bet. This $300 machine is likely a complete waste of money

    "Die-Casting Aluminium Portafilter"

This is why its cheap and nasty. Temperature will be all over the place and you just won't get a decent espresso shot.

You'll skimp on your purchase now and then never use it because it won't produce anything that you like, which wastes all of your money rather than saving up and buying a better item later on..

    • -2

How's that even relevant? An aluminium portafilter will heat up faster but retain less heat. Unless you've done some tests on this exact machine, you can't really speculate what temperature the espresso is coming out. Portafilters aren't that expensive to replace / upgrade if you feel the need.

That said, the rest of the machine is possibly junk.

Sunbeam all have aluminium portafilters….. I avoid them for this reason

Please do not buy this landfill

The Breville barista express is a favourite and I've had mine for about 7 years now.
Every now and then it goes on sale for just under $600.

Sure it's double the price, but it's a solid and proven machine that will.last for years.

The Kogan one looks ok for the price, but I'd just be worried about the longevity.
Most Kogan appliances I've bought, break just outside the warranty period.
(Air fryer, kettle, steam mop have all broken)

I’ve had mine nearly 7 years too, fantastic machine

Would I like a “better” machine? Sure.
Do I “need” a better machine? Not at all.

I was pulling better shots off this with the same beans as a well established cafe with a super premium Italian machine and triple filtered water.

      • I was pulling better shots off this with the same beans as a well established cafe with a super premium Italian machine and triple filtered water.

Not to be cheeky, but taking this with a pinch of salt - it must have been quite a bad cafe.

        • +1

It was actually my favourite cafe, with their own $70/kg bean blend and they used organic full cream milk in their coffees

    • +1

Agreed. Kogan and Aldi have quality control issues. At least Aldi have excellent returns. Kogan CS is purgatory.
Would defo go Breville or Delonghi for such fragile appliances

  • There’s no reviews for this machine or any kogan branded coffee machines

Not really sure why anyone would buy this tbh

  • +3

    Guaranteed to be garbage

  • Doubt the grinder can grind for espresso, you'll be better off buying the $96 espresso machine and spend the rest on a decent grinder.
At that point just look around for people giving away 2nd hand espresso machine and spend all your money on a grinder.

  • I'm waiting for the KFC/Crocs collaboration branded coffee machine.

    • Some wish for a Victoria’s Secret and Steggles collaboration branded coffee machine. Myself included.

  • Fast fashion but make it coffee flavoured

    Thank you for posting,
but OP please don't risk it
