Vodafone as good as anything in Brisbane

    • +3

Yep! I moved from Voda to Telstra this year and I honestly think Voda was a bit better where I am (New Farm/CBD area mostly)

      • I'm sorry,In the other way round. Phone drops out on both me & partners account as it gets dead spots like patchy reception & one day I asked my son to check something while driving & he said your internet is so lousy. I had never in my previous years had any issues in Brizzy!!!Had this for 4 months & my international calling also has minutes all used up so time to move back to Amaysim.

  • Anyone know if this can be stacked with discounted gift cards in Everyday Pay and then the monthly 10% off?

    • can stack with 10% discount not sure about gf

    • Someone in another thread mentioned that one could add gift cards in the wallet and it goes through.

    • +1

Yes can stack with 10% and use gift card to pay.

    • As it's a starter kit, it's not considered a gift card/recharge voucher, so yes.

      • I bought 2 packs a couple of months ago. I used the 10% off and gift card. The only sad thing is that now is a bit more expensive ($150 vs $125 but no points so in reality is now $140 if you consider the points)

  • +1

    Is it include international calling?

  • I've had Woolworths/Telstra/Boost/Optus/Aldi. I'm on the Vodaphone 12 months deal since November, it's had the worst reception of them all. If you don't leave the city, then this deal is possibly for you. But even then I had certain places in Sydney I had 0 reception and it does get annoying.

If you value reception stay away.

Vodafone is decent in Melb, terrible on public transport or regional.

Even Optus has picked up their game but Vodafone is still a fair way off.

      • +1

I use public transport 5 days a week, I'm on Vodafone in Melbourne and don't have any reception issues. What line/route are you referring to?

        • City loop. Unless they've fixed it in the last year or so. Happy to be corrected.

          • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Vodafone has their cells installed in the city loop in the exact same locations (throughout the tunnel itself) as Optus and Telstra. I've not had any reception issues in the loop in a while now and I use the loop multiple times a week.
As long as your device utilises all their frequencies (device approx no longer than 2 years old for AU stock) it should work fine.
Eg a Pixel 6 doesn't utilise all the frequencies they operate on, whereas the Pixel 7 does. Same as iPhone 13 vs iPhone 14.

I'm sure this is highly dependent on locality. voda has been fine for my area and commute.

    • +2

      I feel your pain…

We were with Boost. Patchy reception at home (using WiFi did help there) but better out-of-city performance (in general) than other networks.

[Contrary to my 'handle', we're in darkest Melbourne].

Now with Vodafone (thanks to all players for making churning such a necessary pleasure) and home reception is better. Out of town? Not so much. Still find that there are times that my secondary Aldi SIM gets no connection while the Voda SIM is still firing.

  • Vodafone even in metro areas is unfortunately extremely ass…

  • Thoughts on using this as secondary to Telstra/Optus main in a dual sim phone? Telstra still has black spots where I work

    • Unless you know what reception is like at the exact location you are referring to, with any network, it's probably pointless asking on here :)

  • +2

So when you add in the 10% ER discount and if you have a 5% off GC and then the $10 in points, it's $9.85pm for 20GB pm. Impressive value

    • The bonus data expires tomorrow though. Hopefully they extend it.

  • Where is the link? Can’t find this deal

    • In the weekly catalogue that the link directs to

  • I'm on vodafone Kogan, came wait for it to end in 5 days. I've done one year, given its 500gb it's incredible data value but call quality is hideous.

Going to go Aldi $29 25gb monthly or shell out for Boost 365gb for $365. Can't get my cashrewards to work for my $50 cashback though.

  • Other things to consider.
The bonus 90GB offer expires 9-4-2024. The $100 discount starts 10-4-2024 when it goes back to 150GB instead of 240GB.
Once you've used your My Data, Data Bank and all other data, you can then keep using infinite data at speeds of up to 1.5Mbps until your recharge expires.

    • +2

Wait so technically this deal is only 150GB for $150? Since the deal only starts on 10/04/24?

      • it does say "unless extended"

      • 150GB for $140 if you factor in the 2000EDR points. At Vodafone shops or online it is 240GB for $149 so the Woolies deal is $9 cheaper if you don't need the extra 90GB data.

        • Save $9 lose 90GB of data, not "cheaper" if we are talking relative terms.

          • @rekke: I only used 36GB of my 130GB plan over the last 355 days so it's relative to your usage.

  • Does this have International calls included?

    • +1

Nope, better go with Boost, Coles or Amaysim.

      • Yessss, true!!!

  • Ahhh predictably there’s a 6 month expiry when my 12 month on boost is expiring in November

It’s aight tho I’m sure another will pop up

  • Any international minutes to Zone 2 ?

    • Seems like there is no international calls included at all. Vodafone gotta be kidding us.

  • Does anyone know if these are generally stocked at Woolies Metro?

  • Can I use discounted WISH gift card for WWS? Someone said I will lose the 2000 points, is that true?

    • You still get the points too

  • it's already on if you wait till tomorrow you miss the 250 gigs and you will be back to 150 gigs
it has to be activated by 9 April
Woolies already selling this on special today no need to wait till tomorrow

  • Can I buy this for to use in Apple Watch ?

  • -1

for those who are looking at this price range but fear Voda reception is not good in their area, may be try Moose

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/837729

I am currently running both Moose and Vodafone both on 5G and each with its own good and bad but in general very good speed.

  • +1

Looks like the official Vodafone website has the same deal without obviously the 2000 EDR points

    https://www.vodafone.com.au/prepaid/plans

The offer ends on the 7/5/24 and it also states that
It's only available in Vodafone retail stores.

I wonder if that means that the current prepaid SIM from Woolies has been extended too?

  • +1

Can anyone confirm if it has 240G or 150G please?

    • +1

Second this, was going to the shops to try to get it, but will not if it is just 150gb

      • +2

Chatted online. They said not to buy it!

This is what they wrote ….

Please do not purchase the starter pack it is old offer.

Currently The offer is $250 prepaid plus starter pack at just $149 which will give 150GB + 90GB bonus data, unlimited national calls and text, 50 international text which is expiry 365 days(1 Year)

The offer is available in Vodafone retails store(exclude Airport Vodafone stores) and online as well.

        • So?……

        • woolies advertised and front desk confirmed at my local since it can take up to 48hrs for activation of sim and promo should apply on all activation during this promo period …i got the catalogue for back up when the time comes. If they f it up.

          • @PaKoRa: Im guessing it has 240GB as listed on the catalogue

            • +1

@hohoisme: The image of the starter pack in the catalogue shows "150GB + 90GB bonus data on activation. Ends 09.04.24 (unless extended)." See bottom left of the red starter pack.

              • @GCSteve: Then why is it (the one shows 240G) still on special from today 10/04? It's really confusing…

          • @PaKoRa: How did you go, did you end up buying it from Woolies and trying to activate it with the 90GB bonus data?

  • +1

So bought the sim at woollies did the porting from my voda post pay to pre pay you’d think same company porting to same company would be simple right? Think again it still has not ported thru after umpteen hours - apparently the paid pre pay at woollies can take up to 2 days to show that sim was actually paid mine is showing unpaid - essentially paid $150 for an empty sim and sneaky Vodafone did not even send me any trail of the porting I did i.e an an sms or an email to confirm I have initiated a porting like any business would normally do. After submitting nothing it just fell into a black hole no email no sms - presumably to protect them that you never did a porting on 9 April so no bonus data for you - TIO here I come, also this delay is to ensure I may end up paying another month of post pay Sneaky Vodafone and their overseas call centre did not help, no sense of urgency in doing things or unable to articulate that over the phone which gives an impression of ‘do not care’ attitude and no follow ups no taking ownership of the issue more like passing the buck around.
When told they did not see the sim was paid I offered to send them the receipt- this was refused for no apparent reason but then kept humming along that I purchased a blank sim with no money paid, yet refused to see the proof of payment. What kind of problem solving customer service is this?
Vodafone - you want cheap we give you cheap- all the way to eternity including how you want to be treated - cheap

    • Sorry to hear the bad experience - did the promotion work properly for you though, giving 240GB of data? (150GB +bonus 90GB)

  • +1

Finally I did get everything sorted after about 2 Days and almost 2 hours in the phone here and there transferred back and forth they say they made an exception to give me the bonus data so I did get the 240 gb

    • +1

So Woolworths are falsely advertising in their catalogue, claiming 240GB yet Vodafone had refuted that promotion and only allowed to give it to you based on an 'exception' ?

Very dodgy indeed - will be skipping the WW deal and get it from Vodafone directly ..

  • +1

Yes indeed it was an exception not to be repeated it’s only 150 official as of 10 April
