Seems like a good deal, is this decent for photoshop?

I have a laptop with a 680m (but 32gb ram) and it works perfectly for photoshop.

      • Thanks I might look at getting one of these 2-in-1 laptops with 32gb ram and 780m, I feel like you need the 32gb ram with lots of layers as I've struggled with 16gb in the past

      • I have a 16GB ram 5800U laptop, and the 16GB is a problem when stitching large panoramic shots in lightroom. Or import of shots, 32GB is min for a fast usage IMO.

Can you please advise the 32GB varient of the above unit? Touch screen, higher then 1080 res oled screen, current gen AMD.

        Thanks in advance! 😀

        • Pretty sure you can't upgrade this to 32Gb Ram as there's no option on the non edu site and the specs do say 16gb as opposed to up to 32gb

Great price. As usual with 780M config, IMO it is hamstrung by 16GB RAM due to it being shared memory.

Agree, need 32gb minimum to get the best out of 780m

Good deal. Be better with 32GB RAM and higher capacity battery. Depends on your use-case. Good for office machine. 1.9kg is a bit heavy to lug around.

  • Sorry bit off topic but seeing a few of these Lenovo Edu deals come up regularly. Just looking through their website but haven't been able to find any good deals for my needs. Do they have/put deals on for more portable options (~ <1.3kg). Thanks.

  • Lenovo have been disabling AI features in the non-ThinkPad lines. They did it with this CPU on gen 8 of this model.

    • Why does Lenono do this?

        Preventative for SkyNet

      • Perhaps make you buy the more expensive ThinkPad line, not the IdeaPad.

  • Very close to pulling the trigger but 60Hz put me off. Good that we're quickly getting reasonably priced 16" OLED laptops though, only a couple options and multiple times the price when I was last in the market 2-3 years ago. I'll put it off another year for 120Hz to hit this price bracket.. Hopefully by then also proper 2560x1600+.

I bought a Lenovo Thinkbook 14 inch through Aliexpress for $1335 AUD a few weeks ago.

This model comes with a 3K 120 HZ IPS panel
      Ryzen 7 8845HS
      32 GB RAM
      1 TB SSD
      780M Graphics

Really well built computer with an all aluminium body and good sounding speakers

The Acer Swift Go would fit your requirements. 8845HS, 2.8k 90Hz OLED, 14", good build quality. $1.3k at Officeworks.

      • Bought this couple of months ago for school. Performs well under stress with light to medium intensity gaming on high settings. Has a great battery and very light. Only problem so far is it overheating (over 90 Celsius) which causes its self to shut down mid game and flimsy build quality. Can easily be bent back tho lol. Both issues can be fixed by getting a laptop stand and I used a fan pointed at it which reduced temps by abt 30 degrees. Also got it on special then for $1100 so very happy.
