  • Doesn't this also qualify for free shipping? http://dicksmith.com.au/help/delivery-information-content

    • Yep, it sure seems to meet the criteria, but it's telling me $9.95 to my postcode! :s

      • +1

It subtracts the delivery charge at the final payment page

        • Cheers dude! :)

Kogan is selling this for $339.

    • +3

Body only and grey import for $339 at Kogan.

It's $409 for the equivalent deal from Kogan, plus shipping.

      • +3

$29 shipping it seems, making the Bogan equivalent $438 for a grey!

Even though I'd expected these to come down a bit more over the last year; I was kinda hoping the TLK would get close to this price; I'm still very tempted…and the wife's not around to veto the purchase! :p

  • Does anyone here has used this camera before and hows performance?

    • +2

I own one and I've really enjoyed using it so far. It is my first DSLR and the many "auto" modes it has are really useful for getting good shots if you're not confident of getting good shots only using the manual modes (like me). So I kinda use the auto modes to make sure I have some nice photos, then I mess around with the manual modes to see how I can get the same effect by myself.

I am just a beginner though, so more knowledgeable people here can probably give you more info, but I think it's a pretty good camera to start off with to familiarise yourself with DSLR photography.

I owned one before got 600D from last JB deal. Got my 1100D from HN for $396, but it wasn't IS lens.
It's a good camera for beginner, but after exploring DSLR more thoroughly, I think u will need to move on better camera. I was very happy using this camera, but the JB deal was soooo tempting.

The overall performance is good for entry level DSLR around this price. But if u keen to spend more money, I'd recommend to get 600D instead.

    • More than capable camera. I know of someone who uses a 1000D and wins competitions with it.

I've had a 1000D as a experimental cam (if the cam fell of the car going at 100kph…it's not as painful as a $3k camera) and it's a great cam. A bit small for big hands tho. I've got stubby fingers so it fit ok :P

Make the purchase now before she makes it on something else

    • Bah, I'm also tempted by a $399 17" i3 laptop at Aldi Kotara NSW (opening special)!

  • so its a good deal ^^

  • Thanks guys. title updated to $399 delivered.

  • i got this for $368 from HN a while ago but yeah non-IS lens.. this is a good deal with stock IS lens.. grab it while you can!

  • How long does delivery usually take with Dick?

    • They usually ship your order within 1-2 days. Very efficient.

final words and conclusion of a review for anyone considering to buy this…

  • no free shipping for medium item…..

It is a good deal but I would strongly recommend you to buy something like 600D once it on sale like JB HiFi one. imho.

Excellent deal. I have this camera, very good if you're new at photography. This is a beginner camera. I took this photo on it on Australia Day.

  • Hi All,

OK so I have used both of these cameras….. I thought the 1100D was great (it was a work camera) and it led me to buy the 600D. I didn't want a grey import so went for this from CameraPro (who were excellent).
    1 x Canon EOS 600D + 18-55mm IS II | AUSTRALIAN STOCK () = $587.00

    Discount Coupon bluedogevo applied: -$50.00
    Sub-Total: $537.00

With the discount code (bluedogevo - which worked 2 weeks ago) this is a really good deal. (I have no idea how this code worked - found it on net… I HATE having coupon boxes that I can't fill!)

Anyway - Naturally I prefer the 600D, unsurprisingly it is a better camera…. I feel it is something I can grow into a little more and the build quality is better.

Hope this is helpful to anyone who is torn between the two models…cheers

    • So other than the size (build quality is the same IMO, plasticky and all. Buttons all feel the same.)

What other bits do you think the 600D has over the 1100D?

  • Thanks poster we took print out to jbhifi to price match , even after manager got involved. The absolute lowest they could do was $488. .. So purchased from dse , awesome deal love this site

  • +1

Thanks, just picked mine up for $379 delivered ;)

    • What's wrong if someone gets it a little cheaper, or was that a typo on your part?

      • +2

Not a typo, it seems like my woolworths staff discount card worked on the purchase :)

        • Actually, you could have saved extra 5% by using Giftcard. You can go to Woolies and buy giftcard then pay using ING Paywave ;)

  • My camera arrived today, now I need to purchase an SD card what would you recommend?
