Travel Stroller Recommendations

Hi guys, flying overseas soon on Qantas with our 2.5 year old and keen to buy a travel stroller.

There appear to be a few options, but apart from Yoyo2 (which measures 114cm L+W+H), others appear to be >120cm. Qantas carry on luggage requirement is 115cm.

Yoyo is probably a bit too much than what we would like to spend.

Anyone with experience flying Qantas and what travel strollers they could take onboard with them?

Thanks

Just buy the cheapest one. Knowing Qantas they’ll damage it and they’ll replace it with a better new one.

    • You have any recommendations?

      • Thousands get by without our recommendations when it comes to strollers.

Usually there are hand-me-downs from relatives , friends and neigbbours.

But yes, for a single trip the cheapest will do.
The infant will outgrow the stroller by the time the next trip is organised.

    • I traveled quite a bit. The crew never handled our travel pram.

  • Sorry, it’s been a while. That’s what we did when we went to Disneyworld.

Here you go, someone posted this.

    • Only goes up to 17kg. Others go to at least 20kg.

Your 2.5 year old is 20kg?

        • lol no, but if I'm buying a new stroller I don't want it to last 6 months only either..

@Pbm33: Your kid will be walking around fine at some point. 20kg plus is about 5-6 years old.

          • @Pbm33: Lol, when kid hit 3y, you be using it to carry shopping.
It's not worth to get a new one for 2.5y old kid, unless you planning to have more kiddies lol

We've been using this redsbaby skip and flying with different Airlines. We always took it onboard https://www.redsbaby.com.au/shop/prams-strollers/skip2-strol…

    • Skip 2 is excellent.

We got one used off FB marketplace for under $100.

    • Really happy with our skip 2 as well. Never had any issues taking it on board.

      • I had issues with redsbaby, harness broke off. Not the Skip 2 model, then I had to bring the big gun's, ACCC, next day new harness on the mail, Lol

  • We got one of those little tricycles-prams like this off marketplace for $50. They let us carry it on one way, we checked it on the way back becasue A) it's free to check a stroller and B) at 2.5 he didn't need it.

Downside is he can't sleep in it easily, but we found it suited his desire for independence. At 2.5, we mostly made him walk everywhere and left it in the rental car, but that depends on your child and where you're going.

Edwards and Co Otto an option?

We bought one of these yoyo knock off's that are on marketplace. Not the same seller but it looks exactly the same.

We paid $100 new 18 months or so ago. We bought it knowing if it got destroyed we wouldn't be annoyed, but it ended up becoming our daily driver as the 12 month old at the time preferred it over their fancy Joolz Geo 2. We used it for another 12 months and it has had no issues.

It probably doesn't meet aussie standards (it didn't have the safety strap that no one wraps around their wrists). But a good option if you can get it for $100 and if you just want something to travel with.

    • Have used the yoyo knock, they not steady, not sure real deal also the same. But easy for travel.

      • Oh 100% not the same as yoyo but 1/5th the price and works just fine.

Just bought the Joolz aer plus.

    • We have the Joolz Aer

Collapses and goes into the carryon bin no problem

Has survived snowy winters and the tropics with multiple kids.

    • This is my choice, planning on getting it as soon as I’m done with my vista. Do you love it? Any draw backs? Remind me does it have a skateboard attachment?

      • They do - we've got one on order

  • Have you considered buying one second hand? This post reminds me to take out my yoyo and mb out if storage and get rid of them.

  • Just buy something cheap at your destination, and then just leave it there?
Saves having to board it on the plane, only to find it broken when you get off..

  • Mountain buggy nano is pretty good it weighs under 7kg so you can take it onboard as a carry on. We bought one for travel but ended up using it day to day as well as it was so easy to use and light weight.

  • I've taken our Baby Jogger City Tour 2 on a few flights, haven't had a problem taking it on the plane.

Both of my kids stopped using the stroller from 2 - 2.5 years old, so be mindful you might not get a whole lot of mileage out of a new purchase if your child is 2.5 already.

  • We love our Yoyo. Bought it for travel initially five years ago but it soon replaced our main pram. We have flown with it many times on many airlines and have never had a problem - all the crew recognise it. I see them on Marketplace from time to time.
