Lifetime Health Cover Exemption Letter from Medicare

Hi,
need help and guidance since getting through medicare on phone has been impossible. Any help is appreciated
how can i get the lifetime health cover exemption letter from medicare to provide to health insurance companies to avoid LHC loading ?

  • There's no such thing as a medicare exemption letter AFAIK. You are either under 31, you need to provide your insurer with your medicare registration date (which I think you can get through mygov, although likely you'll just need to sit on the phone longer) if you're new to Australia or the transfer papers from your previous insurer will say you were exempt.

  • If you are transfering then it is part of the process. Speak with your new health insurance company about the process.
    There is no such thing as an exemption letter. There is only a letter that says you currently have insurance and if you have LHC or not.

  • ok yeah i am taking it for 1st time and registered for medicare last may in 2023 and bupa keeps asking em for the LHC letter to avoid loading

      You should have ticked the LHC letter thing on the form you submitted to register for Medicare.

      • Yep this is correct, went through same process for my wife back in 2022.
