Best Deal on Apple MacBook Air/Pro

Hi all, newbie to the forum and OzBargain as a whole.

I am currently a student in University in Australia, currently looking to purchase a Macbook Air/Pro. Preferably 512 GB. Also, flexible on refurbished provided it is from Apple Store.

Currently based on my research the Education Store redirected from Australian Education Union is the cheapest I was able to find.

Hopefully I could try Officeworks to price match?

Is there any other suggestions or options from professionals?

There's a decently-sized price gap between the two, do you need the features of the Pro to justify the extra $$$?

    • I was considering Pro only if the price is close to M3 Air. I am quite new to Macs as a whole.

  • Which one? Officeworks is often cheaper in either case. They love selling them at a bit of a discount, at least after a while if you want a recently new one.

How many external monitors do you think you'll ever want to connect to it, the limit depends on the model.

    • Actually 1 is sufficient

      • Then any M series MacBook will do, they all can do one external screen (was well as the MacBook screen, giving you two in total).

There is currently a used acceptable one with decent price. Usually it functions normally, sometimes comes with no cosmetic problem. Think you could even return it if not satisfied?

Not buying one is the best deal

  • Is 'currently' the word of the month?

      It is, currently.

      • I concurrently

  • For a new Macbook, the Education store or Apple Certified Refurbished (they are as good as new) are the best bets.

  • Officeworks won’t match Edu/Union pricing :(

  • Nothing to add on the deal side of things. But as Apple tax is so heavy on storage, have you considered getting a portable 2TB SSD to increase it instead of getting a few GB onboard?

    • I beleive 256 is way too low considering on something that you will be using for over 5 years at the least.
