did you actually read the reviews?

    • Ahh yes, four reviews which are about customer service, on a product that has been highly reviewed and listed as the best-in-class by 10'000's for decades. Hmm.

  • Seeing $599 for me

This is a KitchenAid product and the price is no where 'cheap' . Its just a good low price. and sold by Good Guys.

Those reviews seem to be quite off and related to Kitchenaid Customer Care. I have heard heaps of praises about Kitchenaid products. Will know in a few months time if any problems at all.

    • You can get this price any day of the week

      • oh - been waiting for a bigger discount, and this seems to be the lowest comparing to 'any day of the week' prices on the KSM195. But good to know..:)
Maybe i jumped in too quick…

        • Look it's probably close to the best price you'd get without a blue moon special but it's not worth it if you're not already planning on buying it.

      • Anything to back your claim and a neg here?

Noting it's KSM195 and a quick googling shows it's more expensive elsewhere.

I've been watching Kitchenaids for years. There's a standard sale price that you can get any day of the week (you might have to wait a week tops), it used to be between $450-$500, after COVID it's now more around $550-600.

Less deals posted recently so I'll assume the deals are more scarce atm and retract my neg.

  • Not a review on unit but instead a review on warranty, and one of their service partners.

Parents had one, use it once a week for bread, mixing arm started to wiggling off center and was loud, unit was out of warranty by 2months, KitchenAid's rejected it, pushed a bit, got approved.

Got serviced in Alpha Appliance Repairs in Lane Cove West (NSW), turnaround was 1 days which was fantastic. Although no warranty at all on the repair afterwards.

    • I don't think these do well with heavy doughs.

      • +1

I know nothing about mixers myself, parents went and paid RRP after speaking to a shop rep and was recommended it (and of course they would), and it has only been lightly used since purchase until its initial demise.

A lot of us are used to doing our own research and finding deals, but I thought it was quite disappointing for any average mum and pop or just basic folks who hear KitchenAid all the time and cemented in their mind that it's a great+premium brand, and would think bread making is a pretty normie use case.

They read the manual and stuck to a low-mid rotation speed and just assumed they were doing the right thing, there certainly were no material nor mention to indicate otherwise. I'm not looking forward to when it next breaks that's for sure, they've probably made 50 loafs in the last 18 months of ownership.

        • Fwiw the last time I checked the manual it was pretty specific about 1.15kg being the limit for dough, which is the total weight with all ingredients (flour, water, etc.) and when I was repairing them I rarely saw issues when that was adhered to.

They're great machines and long lasting when used within that limitation. Not my first choice if lots of dough is a priority though.

          • @wintermadness: I can't comment on the weight of the dough as I don't know but they're pedantic and know their shortcomings with tech and with their past history of buying extra x year warranty for not insignificant amounts only to have an issue afterwards so they're always extra careful.

A recent example was of their LG TV's remote's air cursor moving thingy stopped working, I spent weeks going back and forth with LG and they can't replace as it's now discontinued, got fed up and replaced out of my pocket for $70 told them warranty came through as I know dad would otherwise just silently put up with it.

Not taking sides and this may certainly just be an isolated situation. I think dad had grand schemes for it initially but they don't eat much/sweets nowadays so it's been purely used for bread. They never asked me else I might have done some digging for them, though to be frank my mind would have gone to a KitchenAid as default anyhow.

    • Although no warranty at all on the repair afterwards.

I don't think it works that way.

I don't believe it can be that you have it fixed as a part of the warranty and they're done with warranty. Warranty is not a one-off favour of the manufaturer/seller - it's their responsibility and assurance to you, that what you paid for lasts reasonable time (and not: until it breaks the second time).

If it breaks again, in any way, and it's still within 2-3 years of purchasing, I'd push KitchenAid to repair.

  • Good price. Bought this exact model for the missus 2 years ago for about this price (with gift cards and cashback)
