Absolutely. Entitled parent kicking up a fuss, wanting their 15 mins to shine.

Majority of the discourse surrounding this seems to be supporting Arj, thankfully.

The fact that she couldn't make it through an interview on The Project without the child being disruptive should tell you all you need to know.

    The entitlement is real.

    • +4

She was also interviewed by Ally Langdon on ACA but she chose to persist with the interview despite the baby being disruptive!

It's a no-brainer… if it was a "Open to all, bring your kids along" type show then sure, but it's clearly 15+.

I'd hate to have a baby next to me crying during a show.

and when OzB poll hit 100 votes it was also 96% in favour of Arj!

    • G'day it's fugitive journalist Shane Dowling of the Kangaroo Court of Austraya love his stuff

      • case in point who are the media backing?

        And ozbargain in contradiction mode

        • +1

They're backing whoever gets them the most confected outrage and engagement.

It's funny how all these news articles are saying there's all this debate when really there's 99% of people in agreement that she's in the wrong.

whether its 15+ or not, its common sense NOT to bring a baby to a comedy show! what an absolute moron

On a related note, was watching Dune 2 the other day, and someone brought in their laptop (they were sitting at the back, but still)

  • F YES!

Always multiple sides to the story, Lady called up Fox FM this morning saying she was sitting 2 seats behind the mum and the baby. She said people around her and herself could not hear Arj at all and was about to walk out.

  • +3

Well this backfired for the mum. Wanted her 15 minutes of media fame and thankfully Arj is coming out the clear winner. I also see no mention of her supportive partner or friends. I guess they are embarrassed by her entitlement, lack of respect to others and rules don't apply to me attitude.

  • Yes and yes. We are too unwelcoming of kids in this country. I like Spain, where kids play together at restaurants at 1am.
BUT we parents do need to act when the kids get out of line. And taking a baby to a show means you might have to take it outside and miss the show yourself. Common sense compromise.

  • Comedy is for adults not babies, plus it is noisy and could have flashing lights, that is no way an environment to take a kid let alone a baby. She was being extremely selfish.

Everyone else paid for a ticket to be entertained.

I do love those (largely feminists) that initially jumped on the bandwagon trying to take down Arj for chucking a mum out for 'breastfeeding' when in reality they were the vocal minority.
The fact that the mother couldn't find a babysitter to take the child for a night was selfish tbh and sitting up the front as well because you thought "it would make for an easy exit" is just logically stupid.

NGL the mother is entitled and Arj was 100% in the right.

  • +1

    100% with Arj

if the show was 15+ she and the baby should have been stopped from entering. You would assume these shows have paid securitry/staff checking tickets.

    • +3

In today's age, no security guard is going to stop a mother bringing in an infant unless it's a licensed venue.

I got stopped from bringing a 1yr old into a little suburban bar. Probably only seats like 30 people, and 10 of those seats are outdoors. I was speechless, I didn't even realise that was a thing that "Over 18s Only" literally means EVERYONE

No assistance dogs allowed under 18 years old either.

I'm so sick of mothers thinking that the world should revolve around them and their kid(s). It's a two way street - If they want people to be considerate of them, they need to be considerate of others too.

  • I'm still not even sure what Arj Barker is tbh

  • +1

I bet that freeloader didn't even have a ticket.

Its amazing how much entitlement people suddenly get after having unprotected sex with another to to reproduce their genetic line.

    This sums it up nicely

  • I am with Arj. But unfortunately he'll still be cancelled. We may never see him back here because of this self-entitled nincumpoop.

Its very distracting for a performer to have the audience having kids and babies screaming, talking, making sounds etc. If the parent wants to enjoy a show with their baby, they can watch the show in the comfort of your home where you can do what you want.
