  • Got this in an email, possibly targeted?

  • cool, but how?

  • +5

I can see it on the eBay homepage, but when you click "Join Now," it still shows $49 per year. https://ibb.co/6YTcSrh

    • +3

I got the notification, and banner. Signed up and got charged $49. So beware, now chasing up support.

      • Me too. I did not renew as it was still showing 49 at the time of payment.

        • same here. Thought I must have done something wrong.

      • Did you hear anything from Support yet?

    • Good catch, I see it too.

It's new so maybe it hasn't quite been activated yet? On the positive side it may not end up being targeted.

    • Same, $10 offer on screen, dates in the pic say 3-9 May, offer available on the page though.

      • I think the 3-9 May date is for "Ebay Weekend", but confusingly in the same banner as the $10 annual subscription offer.

    • +1

      What?! Is eBay plus $50?

      Dreamin'

There no way that would make sense for me given I have nearly completely transitioned to AliExpress.

Has anybody else found that eBay seems to have become… how do I say it… crappier?

      • +1

I buy/sell a lot on eBay so for me it's worth it just for the discounted postage promotions.

        • Selling only a few items a year is worth enough for a discounted subscription. With 0 variable fee promotions that is almost free to sell anything I don't need like the Hubbl thing that Foxtel had targetted giveaway.

        • Rofl. Yeah, they're going to last. Ebay is determined to kill off all benefits to sellers. In less than 12 months there won't be any consistently

        • they havent done any discounted postage promotions this year however

          • @lantal: There was this month and last month too I think

        • Fair enough. I don't sell via eBay at all.

  • It seems the offer date are between 3-9 May as shown in pictures above the button?

Ebay customer support confirmed it's not a targeted offer, this is for all members that wanted to be an eBay plus member.

    • +2

You might want to link some proof that people can use as many are seeing $49

    • have you got any refund yet for the difference?

  • https://www.ebay.com.au/vlp/ebayplus - new banner added but the link still shows $49

  • +4

nowhere near as good as it used to be. I am going to let mine lapse when it is due for renewal. Used to have the $5 vouchers and only had to spend $15 to redeem it each month, now it is $35 min spend to use the voucher. Unless I get a Shopback or Cashrewards deal after my membership expires, so that it makes it almost free, I won't bother

    • Your lucky my min spend is 50 ! 15 would have been so good

      • +1

There are 2 monthly $5 coupons, $5 off $35 that works on most items and $5 off $50 which only works on eBay Plus items.

        • $35 force spend to get $5 off is not good
since you might need to just get some junk to get $5 off..

$15 min spend is more palatable.

    • +5

The decrease to $5 off $35 killed ebay plus for me

    • Same, I cancelled mine and still waiting for the prorata refund. It's been amonth waiting, chasing 3times still no refund.

  • +5

    Targeted. My email says $7.99

  • Possible for existing subscribers?

  • +3

I have this offer in my app but I am not sure I’d even get $10 value out of it

  • +1

what min spend are the 2x$5 per month vouchers you get ? will bite if say $20, useless to me if say $50 or $100…

    • +2

$5 off $35 that works on most items and $5 off $50 which only works on eBay Plus items (you can make up the $50 minimum with non-eBay Plus items but the $5 can only come out of the Plus item).

      • thanks, sounds pretty darn hobbled !

anyone got any ongoing good use exampes for this type of voucher on ebay?

  • Did this a year ago, expiring in one week. Fingers crossed they renew the offer. Should I just wait and see , if they don't?

    • +1

Make sure you cancel the existing, otherwise it will auto-renew.

Usually when you try to cancel they offer you something to stop you. Used to be a $30 voucher.

      • I'll do that for sure, last minute 👍

    • do you find ebay plus of much use?

with amazon/ali/temu these days, i dont use ebay much any more personally

      • I had all the above and ended up closing all accounts but ebay. I usually find all I need in there and had some mad discounts for expensive stuff (1k+).
Definitely worth for me, I live rural and do most my shopping for non food items online.
Guess when you spend a lot you should be considered elegible? Will see

    • Mine expires in a week also - I can’t see the current offer but I’ve already cxld EBay Plus so it doesn’t auto-renew when I joined up last yr.
Def not getting much if any value out of it.

      • +1

No point in dropping the fifty then, if was ten tho how to resist hey lol

    • It seems you missed this time

    • Are you new here?

  • I can see it on the eBay Plus page (no email received though), it is sounding like its not working as intended from peoples accounts above..

It probably needs to show the $49 figure since thats what u r signing up for.. but unless they also show the one-off $39 discount, I don't want to mess around and have to chase refunds etc.

  • +1

Great deal for $10 eBay plus, just the $5 monthly voucher and the $1 / 0% variable selling fee (1 item) already paid the membership
I am not going to pay the RRP though LOL

    • +1

$5 off $35 sucks. Just use shopback

      • +1

some categories only got 1-1.5% cashback rate
$5 off still better in small purchases

        • -1

Who the heck doesn't use Westpac. Westpac is 20%. Which means the $5 voucher was only useful when spending up to $25-30.

          • +1

@justtoreply: Westpac is 2% bonus cashback, not 20%
Even if when there are special raise in cashback they were 15% cashback last few times (once in few months for only a day), they are not stacking with most other promo codes in eBay (as they are usually not listed in SB). While the $5 eBay plus promo stack with most eBay promo codes.

            • @littlesoldier: 20% total with Westpac right now.
Agree cashback doesn't stack with codes, but they are better than the codes after Ebay screwed the min spend requirement on the $5 coupon. Codes still better for big purchases over a couple hundred or so yep

    • +1

eBay didn't give me a $5 voucher for 5 months. They emailed me saying they acknowledge the problem, and were "looking at it from there end".

Called support 3 times. They fobbed me off 2 times and on the 3rd offered me a.one off $5 voucher, nothing more…and said " I was greedy for asking for more".

      eBay can get stuffed.

If taking up this deal..assume you will get nothing..AND…

Pay with a credit card..so you WILL do a Chargeback when they fail to meet the T&Cs.

      • That is so radiculous. You are just asking for what they promised.

      • I feel ya. That happened to me and I asked the same way you did to no avail. So I boycotted them and during the next offer posted on ozbargain I took a look and the offer was given to me on my account.

Leave it if you can and probably at the next round of discounted rates they may give you the offer

        • Yeah, done with ebay. Have an active Ebay plus membership, but avoided buying anything for 8 months now…

Has been useful for price matching Sparesbox at Supercheap Auto. Put sparesbox item in cart for checkout, apply promo code (plus has free shipping with plus), show checkout operator at SCA (show free shipping). Got some CV grease for $15, was $24.99 at SCA yesterday.

      • Agreed, they are crooks.

I contacted eBay a year or so ago to cancel my membership renewal. They cancelled my membership effective immediately, meaning my remaining eBay Plus membership was removed entirely from my accouunt (there was around 6 months remaining).

I contacted eBay 'support', explained the situation, and their response was along the lines of: too bad, our membership is very generous, pay us again for a new membership.

I found it funny that they congratulated and thanked me for my loyalty at the start of the phone call, as I have been member of theirs for almost 20 years.

  • +1

Looks like they just pulled the offer and made it a 30 days free trial instead.. maybe It was not intended to be a live offer.

    • +2

yea, i got the email offer too, but when clicked its just regular $49 annual plan, no mention about the $10

      • Well, I got the offer 2 hours ago (I had deleted it without reading). Clicked on the link and it seemed to be asking full price. The T's & C's state "Offer Period. This offer is provided by eBay Marketplaces GmbH (“eBay”) and commences at 10:00am AEST on 23rd April 2024 and is available for a limited time only, for as long as it is advertised on the eBay.com.au site" - and as it does not appear to be advertised on the site maybe it's no longer available. On the other hand maybe it's terminology - you are signing up to the "$49 Plan" but perhaps it only charges $10 for this first year? Dunno.

    • The front page banner is indeed gone, unless they send out a retraction email though there's hope they still plan to implement the deal.

  • +1

I know this is a decent deal but I am just reluctant to have anything to do with eBay due to recent experience. I seldom sell stuff on eBay but recently I sold a brand new T shirt on eBay. Before posting, I took as many photo I could then sent it out. 12 days later after the the buyer receiving the T shirt, they asked for a refund as there is a hole on the shirt at the front of the shoulder. I am 200% sure this wasn't there, proved by the photos I took. However, eBay refunded anyway regardless my evidence to prove the shirt was all good. Now I have a damaged shirt returned and a loss of the postage lol. Well, I just can't convince myself to pay another $10 to this awesome eBay.

    • Absolutely, ebay will never side with the seller. I have had a few dodgy buyers recently who have received the item, claimed defect and it hasn't been worth my expense to have them post it back to me (damaged / broken apparently) and so they also get a full refund.
To make it even sourer, they also enjoy leaving negative feedback regardless!
The ebay fees are a whole other issue…but they know they've got the market cornered here and we will continue to sell.

  • No dice here. Got the email, $49 upon checkout

    • same, seems none had success

  • +3

Since the deal appears to be a no-go for now I'll expire it, if it becomes available I'll un-expire it.

  • -1

So…who do you report eBay to?
    Consumer Affairs?

I think being international they are in touchable.. avoid.

Use a credit card so you can at least do a Chargeback on any plus fees. They won't give you all the vouchers. Probably won't charge you just $10 either. ..

They have no interest in fulfilling their own promotions or T&Cs.

    Scum bay.

    • Albo…he's taking on X ;-)

  • Unobtainable.

For what it's worth I just tried the link now and was able to get it for $10!

Previously it was showing full price when I first got the $10 email.

  • +1

Thanks! Worked for me too now!

  • Worked for me too

  • Worked for me too! Great timing as I just cancelled my other account before it was due to expire on the 30th April.

  • Why there is another same post, by the same poster
