Aramex Lost My Delivery

Hi fellow OzBargainers, I need some advice. I bought a Dyson recently and it was sent by Aramex for a local delivery.

After much effort, I have finally received a reply after 19 days of it being picked up as follows:

According to our initial investigations, it appears the consignment may be damaged/lost. We will now refer the matter to our claims team, AIAP Claims Solutions, who will contact your Sender.

Reading online reviews about Aramex, it appears a usual occurrence and they are likely scamming the system with stealing people's items and then claiming with insurance. This is very frustrating as I was hoping to claim GST with my upcoming overseas trip but now I can't do that anymore and the product was at half price which is not available anymore.

Aramex reviews:

1.6 stars on Google with 715 reviews.
1.2 stars on Product Reviews with 6416 reviews

Apart from raising a ticket with ACCC in the hope that if enough people report this behaviour, hopefully there will be an action, any further advice or just suck it up and hope for a similar sale in the future? The Post Ombudsman only deals with AusPost and StarTrack. I have already initiated credit card charge back and seller is not disputing it likely as the insurance will cover their loss.

ACCC won't be interested in a lost package

Not individually but this is a pattern. See their online reviews. It has happened to two other friends too. This is how they are operating

      • -2

If it happened to two friends, who didn't you ask who the courier was before placing order?

        • -4

The seller placed the order. Different seller mate. I ain't stupid if that's what you are implying

See the pattern here? People generally review things when something goes wrong. The low rating has very little meaning, it doesn't represent the average outcome.

A Dyson hair-something? Or were you going to take a vacuum overseas??

Also you seem to be assuming that once Dyson is told that the item has been lost, they will just refund you? Or have they actually said that already? If not, I would try and speak to them before this happens to have a replacement sent instead.

    • It was another store. Yes Airwrap. They don't have the replacement in stock at the moment but happy to not contest the chargeback.

      • +3

You shouldn't need to do a chargeback, they (the seller) should just be refunding you if their courier lost the item.

        • -7

I had already initiated a charge back through credit card. Only after leaving a negative review about the store, then the manager reached out and said that they would let it go through without any issue. Any difference?

          • +3

@Royale with cheese: What did the store do wrong? Yes their courier lost the item, it happens. But they haven't done anything wrong unless they were refusing to refund or something similar.

            • -2

@djkelly69: I had gone personally to collect it at the first place and they couldn't find it on the floor. Then i had to push them to deliver it and they chose the worst courier available. Then when i contacted them initially, i didn't receive any help until i left a negative review (product review allows a private remediation option before publishing which is what i used) and was then contacted by the manager after that point. I wasn't complaining about the store in this post though.

            • @djkelly69: The store deserves a bit of blame if they are using substandard delivery couriers.

          • +13

@Royale with cheese: You shouldn't be doing a chargeback within 19 days. Nor should you be leaving a negative review. Chargebacks should be used as a last resort. Negative reviews should be done after everything is finished and not as a blackmail tool.

Unfortunately when something gets lost with a courier, it takes time to sort out. Most of the time, the item will eventually be found - it will have been routed to the wrong location or something. The seller can't just refund you or send out a new one until the package is declared as lost by the courier.

You need a bit of patience. There are a lot of advantages of online shopping. But you need to accept that occasionally things go wrong with shipping. If you aren't willing to take that risk, go to a store to purchase. If you had have been more patient and not done a chargeback, the store could have likely sent out a replacement to you (if that's what you wanted) after the courier declared the item as lost.

I do agree with you that Aramex is not a good courier. All you can really do is to provide feedback to stores that use Aramex that you won't buy from them (or won't be buying from them again).

              • @Royale with cheese:

Credit card charge back should be done asap as there is often a time limit for this especially if i was going away for 7 weeks.

I think you are missing the point here.
You going on vacation for 7 weeks is not a valid reason for a chargeback.

You should always try to work things out with the store first.

  • You plan to take a Dyson overseas and leave it there for 12 months?

    • -2

People buy gifts for people living overseas

    • You can’t take a Dyson on the plane. They won’t allow the lithium battery in carry on or check in. I’ve investigated before.

  • Did you ask the store to follow up? resent the loss item?

    • Yes i did. They don't have it in stock.

I guess reading above comments, it appears that there is no productive suggestion except criticism so will have to accept the outcome

    it was sent by aramex

    🤣🤣🤣

It's might be selling on Facebook marketplace. Have you checked?

Auspost reviews of 4.7 stars v aramex reviews of 1.2, will you trust your item with them not believing it is a poorly run business or something is fishy?

Aramax is beyond sh*t when it comes to reliable delivery

    • +1

This isn't the first time, not will it be the last, aramax loses packages all the time.

What kind of advice do you think we could give you that would help you at all ?

What would you consider a productive comment, one that commiserates with your misfortune ?

The only people who can help you is dyson and aramax, dyson did a great job by refunding you, maybe look at the positives instead of the negatives.

As someone who worked in the freight industry for just over 19 years, I can tell you that Aramex is one of the worst providers. If you see that something is to be shipped with them, choose an alternate shipping option, even if it costs a bit more. Believe me, it's worth the little extra not to have anything shipped with them.

    • +1

Easily the worst. Your be lucky if they delivered to the nearest collection point too because it never goes to the delivery address.

You won't neg this comment, you're scared..

In a real poll on OzBargain, Aramex were only the 2nd worse company

  • Surprised the Dyson store would use the worst courier in existence.

  • As someone who had 3 parcels outstanding with Aramex, one marked as lost, I was able to pick up all three at their depot in Brisbane (Hendra). I rocked up and the staff member there went and searched and I got lucky - all three including the one that was lost for 4 weeks were all there. So I’d recommend doing that if you can.

  • They lost a massive curved monitor last year. They are dodgy. It left the warehouse but never arrived. The drivers must be rolling in (lost) loot.

  • +1

Yeah, aramex sucks big time. I actively avoid using them at all. If a seller ships with aramex and won’t offer an alternative choice, I shop elsewhere. They have “lost” several thousands of dollars worth of items- from electric motors to 1k+ network switches to aa batteries, nothing is safe.

Easily the worst courier I have used (in my area at least).

Adding Aramex Trustpilot rating which seems to have been (conveniently) missed:

1.1 Stars on Trustpilot with ‎778 reviews (1 star being the lowest rating possible).

My experience with all the other couriers mentioned here, is that I have issues with them, on rare occasions, if ever.

So far, my experience with Aramex has been 100% bad.
