Review from OutdoorGearLab

Our Verdict

The Hoka Kaha 2 GTX takes the cake regarding comfort. With 2 inches of compression molded EVA midsole to absorb all the impacts of foot strikes on the trail, these boots will make you feel less tired and sore at the end of the day. With a tall ankle, you can be assured that you're protected from impacts or rolling when carrying heavy loads. Made of nubuck leather, these take a little bit of extra time to break in, though once they have been taken on a couple of good hikes, you should have no other comfort issues. The lacing system isn't perfect, but it is a small problem and can be overlooked in light of the overall awesomeness of these boots. Durable and waterproof, we love these boots for their top performance across the board and heartily recommend them.

  • Hi mate, been trying to figure out if the TAKE10 is eligible for cashback. I can see Shopback mentions the massive warehouse sale but doesn't list the voucher TAKE10. Do you reckon its eligible l?

    • @gotyourback tagging you if that's alright, would you know?

      • @gotyourback tagging you if that's alright, would you know if TAKE10 eligible for 18% CB?

  • doesn't seem to be a huge discount really. the salomon hiking shoes are similar and go down to almost $80.. anyone got any views/feelings on why these are worth the extra dolsh?

    • +2

I mean, they are different shoes. yes they are both hiking shoes but the salomon shoes for $80 arent 'similar' other than being called hiking shoes (probably not getting an goretex ankle boot from Salomon for much under $150 if that and certainly not getting one with the Hoka sole since Salomon dont make that style)

I have been hiking for, well, many decades and the most important thing about hiking shoes is that they fit and are comfortable. Saving $50 or whatever is very much not on your mind when you are 2 days into a trek and have huge blisters and your toes are squashed together and the nail is coming off. If what fits you is Hoka or Salomon or Merrell or whatever, then that is what you get.

Are these worth the extra dosh - if they fit you and the Salomon ones dont then of course. If vice versa then no

FWIW, I run with Hoka shoes and have for many years but none of their hiking shoes fit me very well. I tend to have Salomon hiking boots although their current range has updated what I used to like and not a big fan

    • Completely different shoe to the Salomons.
Go into a store and try on both.
Not saying one is better or worse - I own a pair of Hoka Speedgoats and also a pair of Salomons for different types of treks.

  • OOS except for Bigfoot sizes….

    • Not bigfoot enough :(
