Unlimited Usenet + VPN €29.85 for 15 Months (~A$49, Ongoing €47.88 Per Year) @ TweakNews

90

I received this in an email yesterday, for being a lapsed customer. I don't think it is targeted, but if it is we can cancel this bargain. It also mentions a 500GB Usenet account added add. I assume this is 500GB/month and you get access to their Web Interface as well for tracking down specific files like an ebook or music track. I believe the offer period is only for a few days, so don't procrastinate. If you can get it at this price, it seems like a great deal.

  • 99.99% File Completion
  • 4500 Days Binary Retention

Minimum term 15 months then price increase.. total approx $50 aud

    • There's a deal on reddit for a whole bunch of usernet providers; kings day, although I doubt the king had this type of freedom in mind. And personally I stay away from usernet as you can't stream directly.

I wouldn't stay away from Usenet just because you can't stream. People have diff setup, consumption behavior and preferences.

I posted to provide basic information to what usenet does and the limitations of usernet. Similar to mentioning the kingsday deal forum; I don't care about the deals but I might as well let others know.

I should also mention you can download with usenet using easynet (which can be hit and miss), offcloud (more miss than hit), and downloading into a cloud drive using rclone (advanced). Not to mention for most usenet you also need to pay for a good indexer. All things people new to usenet might not know.

But honestly it's hard to beat streamio for ease of use.

          • @JustJay: Also dont forget that using RealDebrid negates the need of Usenet as you will vlbe protected while torrenting

            • @meong: This is why Stremio and Debrid works for 90% of people. Don't get me wrong usenet is great, but I'm also aware that even if usenet suits my needs that doesn't mean that usenet fits the needs of most users.

              • @JustJay: i agree, not sure why you were downvoted though as its a valid point… usenet is useless for me too as i dont store anything I watch…

        • +2

Completely agree. I run Xpenology on an old PC that in turn runs Sonarr and Radarr….. Plus more.

I'm never without stuff to watch and I get everything else I typically need for my overall existence from Usenet.

Sure, I could just torrent but Usenet is so simple and I have no concerns about people watching what I may share, cos I'm not sharing anything.

@jollster101: That's a good setup. But for majority of people who pirate setting up Xpenology, Sonarr, or Radarr is beyond them. Remember most pirates are aged aged between 30-45 (47%) so they're used to torrents and are aren't necessarily computer experts.

(Personally I much rather download and store so I have content while travelling and such)

      • That nazzczzie ain't my king.

Eweka is also on special going for €2.50 per month which is very good. According to reddit you can also stack your current subscription. I am paying €2.99 so might look at adding an additional 12 month to my account at this price.

  • My newsdemon $46/2 years will expire soon. Looking for a cheaper alternative if anyone come across any, else I'll just renew and wait another 2 years.

    • Sweet deal. Hard to come by anything like that
